As a monster hunter fan they lost me at the part where they added American soldiers... like what?

Same here, I haven't been too committed of a Monster Hunter fan with only playing a few games on and off, but the moment I realized it was a movie of the franchise, after seeing the modern militaristic soldiers being a thing in it.. I was kind of just instantly put off of any thoughts of watching it.

They lost me as soon as I heard Paul W. S. Anderson was directing it. I had SOME tiny bit of hope but that was crushed when the line "I dont care what those creatures are, we destroy them and close the gateway" dropped in the trailer...

I knew how it was going to turn out just based on the trailer, I didnt want to believe it though.

One thing that made me go "Wait what?" was how much marketing they had for Rathalos while compared to his on screen time in the movie

I haven't seen the movie yet but the previews here showed a Diabalous as the main monster they'd fight. It made sense at the time because they were in a desert but I've been burned by those kinds of movies before and don't really have much of a desire to watch it.

I am sooooo wanting to watch it but already kinda went meh, after watching the preview.

We totally gonna watch, make you SUFFER like me and Spike had~
