I did something today that I was absolutely dreading to do: I went and cleaned out my watch list. Accounts that have voluntarily deactivated, accounts that haven't seen postings in years (the average was about 6 year, the longest stretch was 13), alt accounts that are there for archival purposes...It was quite a bit.

I started at around 681 on this list. I am now down to 251.
Ooooh boy. A lot of talent has come and gone in the last decade and a half, hasn't it? But that's the nature of it all. Things appear, are awesome, then fade. I miss a bunch of 'em. At the same time, though, there's always new talent coming in to show us what they've got. There's never going to be a shortage of stuff to enjoy.

So, to those who have faded, thank you for the memories. I'm fairly certain I've got my favorite pieces of your work stored somewhere on a flash drive.
To those still here, keep on rocking. I know I will.
And to those who are new, welcome. I look forward to seeing what you bring to the table.

I've been here for what seems like forever, and by god, I'll be here long after most of you are gone, keeping the records and telling the tales.
