I was cringing so hard throughout the entire video because I know for a fact that if I did anything even somewhat similar to what Chauvin did, I not only would be fired, but I would be put in jail, doubly so if the person I did it to died.

Police should really not have qualified immunity... They should also need a "rules of engagement" like the military.

They are supposed to be civilian law enforcement, and not "above" the laws they enforce.

Many police officers need MORE training... Though it will be hard to provide the training with this whole "Defund the police" moment, as training isn't free, so I only see things getting worse as the bar gets lowered as police quit en-masse in the big corrupt cities. Hell the reason police are so militarized in the USA is because of the last defunding movement, and the NDAA that BOTH the democrats AND republicans constantly renew every time while bitching about it at the same time... Surplus military equipment can be bought for pennies on the dollar, while specialty police equipment can cost much much more.

The cop who shot Daunte Wright while trying to use a taser is a 26 year veteran of the force and head of training. Her department received millions and millions of dollars a few years ago. No amount of money is going to fix the training problem. It is a government program, and it has no incentive to increase quality because at the end of the day, they're going to get their funding regardless of how terrible a job they do.

She has NO excuse. She is supposed to be the one training people NOT to make "mistakes".

I don't know where their money is going or what training they are providing with said money, but her ass should never have been in a position like that if she couldn't tell the difference between a gun and a taser. Looks like that is a case of having a bad trainer, unfortunately that means she likely trained a bunch of other people incorrectly.

Though it would be interesting to see where their millions of dollars are actually going.

And the sad part is, even if police have to answer to an outside watchmen or internal affairs group, who watches those groups? Big cities are rife with corruption and "slush" funds.

Oh the media definitely lied, especially trying to make George out to be some sort of saint that never sinned when he definitely was a "bad guy", but the cops still went way too far and he didn't deserve to die.

I agree the guy didn't deserve to die, but the cop didn't have his knee on the neck and actually used far less force than he was allowed to use for the satiation that george was causing. Top that with the OD'ing of drugs, the high O2 rate, the bad heart and other testimony, if not for the terrorist that is BLM, Antifa, Maxine Waters, and other "peaceful protestors" with their intimidation of the jury, the cop would have been acquitted.

And then he'd be facing charges for Tax fraud. I'm not sure if having his knee on his back is going to hold up as assult to get to the murder and manslaughter charges under appeal. You can't have the two latter without the former. Anyways sentencing is in 8 weeks and the other officers go on trial in August. Considering what the media is shifting twords now, people will likely not be paying attention once it goes to appeal, nor will the current administration tolerate what went down over the summer since Orangeman is gone.

It's utterly insane that they did not sequester the jury throughout the trial, and that will probably be the main point in the appeal. Maxine and the Mayor handed them a good deal of material as well.

I have to disagree with you here. It has since emerged that the level of drugs in Floyd’s system is what killed him. Also, his airways were not being cut off like people thought, so he could indeed breathe. Make no mistake. If Floyd had been killed in a black on black gang shooting or something like that, nobody would even know his name. This has all become political theater to smear white cops for doing their job. And while I agree that there are some bad cops out there, the same is true in every profession. But yeah, Maxine Watters should’ve kept her big mouth shut instead of inciting riots. She alone may very well be the reason that Derek may ultimately be acquitted. The justice system is no longer balanced anymore. When you have the mob able to influence trial outcomes, that is NOT justice. I say if they try to burn down Minneapolis, the police and military should respond with all necessary force to stop them.

It all starts at the top. Until elected officials and celebrities are held to the same standards as everyone else, injustice will always exist. As far as police go, I've never had any problems with officers, though I haven't had a ton of interaction with them either. I don't know what their current rules and regulations are, but the whole body-cam thing sounds like a good idea, as long as the cameras aren't "broken" when it counts.
I do find it ironic, though, that the people who scream loudest about more training are oft the same ones calling loudest for defunding. Do they think training is free? And as for sending social workers instead of armed officers to a crime scene...I've never heard a better argument for keeping the Second Amendment intact.
