I feel bad when my submissions don't get faved
4 years ago
Really I do. I know I'm not entitled to faves or even views (nobody is entitled to pretty much anything but being left alone provided they are innocent and haven't harmed anyone to deserve punishment) but it still feels bad to not get them.
It's just that a fave shows someone liked what you did rather than just merely viewing it. A view can be done just out of curiosity. Like, someone could see a picture as a thumbnail and click on it to see the whole thing but not like it. But if someone faves a picture that shows for sure they viewed AND liked it.
Getting views on a picture is good but faves are better. Faves are basically appreciative views!
Also a fave can be an indicator that did a good job. That you're doing something right. That you have skill.
I mean I noticed a lot of the good pictures on any art website have faves. A fave can indicate that you're good with the anatomy, lines, coloring, texture, content, etc. with the picture or at least people think you do.
If you're just getting views but no faves chances are people don't think you're excelling with your art.
On another note a fave shows a person wants to save your art to look at for later. To store it for themselves on the website. If they just view it, chances are they aren't looking at it again.
Now you may be thinking that I'm worrying over stats and appreciation too much and that could be the case. In fact, in relation to that, I've heard some artists say they don't care about stats at all and that they just want to draw personal art and share it with the world. Maybe I should have more of that attitude.
But I can't help but feel better with a fave than without one. I mean I can still feel good without a fave but I feel even better with one.
For now at least to me stats matter especially certain ones.
