I left twitter for a long while because it is just a stressful nightmare, and it has changed but for the worse.

Ah no. How has it changed? I like the idea of having polls and being able to share images with said polls. I have a few ideas I want to put out but it would be difficult to discuss this with just words and show no images.

Perhaps putting it on private and only allowing Fur Affinity people in would be a good solution?

Which is fair! I'm only interested in some of the bits they offer. Such as the polling systems I mentioned. I have some ideas that I want to share but I also don't think I could properly express myself without being able to share some imagery and have a poll system as well. I'm not likely to use this as an alternative to Furaffinity, you guys are my home here! I'm more interested in the bits that this website does not have. I do like the idea of having retweets and such and expanding my stuff but at the same time, I'm not really looking for fame haha! Sure it'd be nice but it's not something I'm actively searching for.

I have some announcements I want to make once I figure out some logistics and I think it's a good idea and I genuinely think it'll be cool! But I still don't know how to properly announce it and poll it outside twitter and survey monkey is crap!

Plus, Twitter does allow retweets which gives me a much larger market research which is what I ultimately want.

I'd personally use https://www.strawpoll.me/ for such things. You don't need a sign-in to make polls.

Thank you for the link! I'll be honest, I haven't looked long but I can't seem to find a lot of places to look to be honest haha but does this have an option to add an image? It's one of the reasons I'm interested in twitter, aside from the polls there are a few other reasons (such as the retweet options, hashtags to get the right people interested, etc) that interests me as well. The idea I have is rather niche but I think it will have a few people interested! The hashtags will likely get the people that would be interested to notice. As well as trolls of course but that's nothing new. I had to deal with a few in person but I can always tell you that in private!

I participated in a few polls on twitter without signing in which is very good! I think the only thing it doesn't allow you to do is see the results, which can only be seen if you have a SN name which isn't that big of a deal personally. The hashtags are also an interest.

I suppose being obtuse doesn't help. I don't want to say something at the moment and get people excited and have someone else beat me to the punch if that makes sense. I haven't seen anyone who does this yet which is why I'm keeping it on the down-low :) At least until I finish my research.

I'll be honest, though I am leaning toward getting an account. I still haven't decided because to make it work there I would need to have regular updates which I doubt I'll be able to do because I would rather focus my energy on here. I think that's why I'm tossing back and forth. Because, yes, on the one hand, I would like more engagement but on the other is this the right path for me? I won't know until I try, unfortunately, which is why I'm always thankful for alternatives. Especially if I end up changing my mind. I'm very thankful for your input my friend.

Also, I'm at a huge disadvantage as well, mainly my own doing of course. I disappeared while at uni for nearly four years with occasional peeking in for a hello and posting one or two bits of art before falling off the grid again. I am thankful I did so and was able to focus on the work because it gave me the experience I wanted and craved! I am so thankful for it. But because of focusing on this, I no longer have the level of activity I had prior to starting university. There is a possibility in the future if I do get an account I may end up removing the account later for personal/unknown reasons, which is why I welcome any other alternatives as well as any advice for more engagement on my very silent account :)

Have you had bad experiences?

I got my account taken downn 3 times in a row due to the site thinking I was a bot. That and Twitter is pretty much the most toxic social media site

They thought you were a bot??? Why? That's bizarre. I've mentioned above why I want an account. I haven't fully decided, though I'm leaning toward to getting an account mostly for engagement.

Sadly, through my own doing, my account is very silent and inactive. I have been on hiatus for a long time while finishing university. This makes it difficult for me to find that same level of engagement I had prior to making this choice. I wanted to get Twitter in part to this but also in part to getting polls (I have an alternative booked marked thanks to another user) and I have some ideas that I think will be incredibly popular but I need to do some research first.

Interesting mix bag I must say. I have friends who say it's the best place they been for interaction. I'm very curious to know why some people seem to have such a hard time there. I wonder if it's like the lottery where only one or two people out of hundreds have good luck there. :o Another aspect to consider. only so few get lucky. My hubby has a Twitter mostly for his hobbies and he seems to have found a good community there. But I know many aren't so lucky or had bad interactions. I never saw them personally as I don't actually have an account but I heard of them.

It's okay it's good to have all the details. My hubby is part of another fandom all together, each fandom will e somewhat different so it's good to have all angles before I make a choice :)

I follow artists twitter account, but I don't really care for it. A timeline won't show you everything and it's very easy to miss unless you go to their timeline and search it. I like galleries where the art posted is easy to find.

ah no. That's awful. I heard about that for facebook and Instagram I didn't realise it was like that for twitter too :( it's almost like why bother?

Yeah it works as a timeline (Remember Tumblr?)

But there's no actual gallery. So everything you post or tweet is shown in order and doesn't always get shown to followers and can be missed. Also if you tweet, you could bury your own artwork under tweets and retweets. Yes people can filter to just find things you've posted, but having to do so and still scroll down through it one thing at a time is a bit more tedious than just having a gallery imo.

perosnally i dont/wont ever get a twitter account from what i have seen its just as bad as facebook with its trolls backstabbers and genral arseholes i know pretty much all social media sites have there arsehole people

I was considering it for what was stated in another comment above, for polls and getting a bit more engagement in my page as I been gone such a long time due to working so hard on my field. Now I have some free time. I want to get more engagement but it's going to take some time I know :) I also have some fun ideas that I want to get people's opinions on but sadly (and I am so guilty of this) my journals are not really read by many so I feel like they may be missed by people who may be interested in some of my ideas and fun things that may be missed that may be picked up elsewhere through hashtags or other silly things. I wouldn't switch platforms. I like it here :) I just want to expand my engagement.

IMO, I'd avoid Twitter like the plague. While you may be able to post NSFW stuff there, the site is loaded with trolls and people who show ZERO decency. I have other reasons, but these are one of the prominent ones. I don't use Twitter and I never will.

I'm sorry if my opinion is on the negative side. I don't want to say too many reasons, as they tread on "wrong person may not want to hear it" territory. If you wish to hear my biggest reasons, let me know and I'll tell you in private.
