Neerblog: Saucy Summer Edition

It's been a while since my last dev check in, and wanted to give you updates on what's going on:
I've unfortunately been a bit ill recently past few months which has caused a bit of a delay on the Spring Update (which is now moving to "mid summer update"). That said, I'm doing quite a bit better and the update coming along! Here's a list of features that will be rolled out in the second half of this year:
- Improved UI (In Progress)
- User profile banners (In Progress)
- High resolution file support (In Progress)
- Trending pages (Complete)
- Up-and-coming artists (Complete)
- More unique store merch!
We'll have more information available on the above, most likely towards the middle to end of July (along with some previews to boot!).
Additionally, our longer term projects in development:
- Account renames (we've done a massive amount of work on this already)
- Block and tag features
- Video support

We want to show off what's popular, but we realize that kind of does a disservice a lot of people as not everybody's up there at the top, so it tries to find a good middle ground for those who seems to be on the rise, but haven't quite the attention we feel they deserve.
There will be more options of "species" when uploading artworks? Like adding more animals like Maned Wolf?
Maybe a Twitter poll and a Q&A for which species do people want added the most.
a set of radio options to choose whether it's a mammal, scaly, etc. and also not to forget a "multiple" if there's multiple characters that are different species and a "Hybrid" option if it's a mix of 2 species that are from different areas of species like mammal + other. it's a little tricky to describe
However how I envision it to work is like this:
- Radio selected brings up a dropdown list of species in that category
- Will only bring up a dropdown list when Hybrid or Multiple are not selected.
Not sure what other changes that may ensue but It is a thought nonetheless.
I'm aware it's an issue, and it's something I'm looking into.
Additionally, can I ask why the keywords are still SO LIMITED? Not going to name names, but certain other sites allow for unlimited amounts of keywords and keyword combinations, rather than a hard character limit. I mean, no offense, but you can say more in a Twitter post than you can in FA keywords.
As far as keywords, that's something we can look into potentially. I think increasing keywords/tags isn't a bad idea, but will make a bit more sense once we're able to improve that system all around.

Ahhhhh,. I look forward to it. I can't wait. Can I suggest if this could also include ratings? like if you want to block a tag for Adult rating only? But still even if not AHHHHH I'm excited and can't wait. This will make things nicer.

Until then, i can get by using the user title for my current name.
This would not only help with easing stress on FA's servers with not having to host it.
But also get the double moderation of both FA and YT for any potential unpleasant content.
Even if, as a temporary or alternative measure for the time.
I know it has it's own issues, but figure I'd throw it out there since we can do it via journals; might be possible?

Something i'd personally like is a way to kinda see what going on at the development side of FA, some place that gets an update bimonthly or something like that
Instead of most popular how about promoting only pages of newbies and mids! I think the most difficult thing is finding someone who has really cool creations but under 5,000 views and 10 watchers and under 100,000 views and 2,000 watchers. It's really easy to find popular art through favorites, posted commissioned art, and other natural networking spreads. The functionality of the site itself highlights recent and categories/tags, but the most bridging feature is the front page sections which, if clicked through, should result in a +watch or fave. It would add more disparity between missed and popular if the already exponential growth of popular views were highlighted.
