She knew that the only way that she was going to stop, was by colliding into the hospital wall. But, with one sister in her arms and the other on her back, the only option left to her, was to shoulder the force of the impact at her side.
"After I hit, I need to crawl along the wall to the entrance." Sweetheart reasoned. "So, I need to hit the wall facing the door. My left side, then. I'll hit the wall with my left side."
Though she was thankful that her dominant arm was her right, she still was afraid of the pain she about to endure. A concrete wall. She was flying at breakneck speed toward a concrete wall. The collision was going to be painful, surely excruciatingly so. But, there was no choice.
Tears stung her eyes and trailed down her cheeks, mixing with the salty water that swirled around her. She was scared. Her body trembled with fear. But, to save herself and her precious sisters, there was no choice. She closed her eyes, whispered a prayer to the Great Spirit and let the water carry her to the hospital where it slammed her mercilessly against its unforgiving stone wall.
