Do you ever make an art that's bad...

but you sunk like several hours into it so you're not sure if you should kill it or just finish it? I feel like that about this thing I'm doing.

I scrap most pieces I make honestly if it comes off looking not good in the concept stages, it's usually a goner.

I didn't realize I hated it until I started coloring it, lol. But yeah, I do too.

I do, a lot.... And then I realise that I can fix parts of it, or reuse ideas. :3

It's really far along now though, and I'm not sure if I want to finish it... I want to redo it entirely. :/

I would suggest putting it aside and trying a second version? :3

Probably what's gonna happen.

I like to keep backups either way. At times I mix stuff, like a scene enters a different story...
Invert the colors, add lens flare, call it an experimental piece

I have issues with this a lot- I usually fall back on a few people to send WIPs to and get their advice or opinions. I've found nearly all artwork has an "ugly" stage where you're probably going to hate it, or something feels off, but you just don't know what. I think finishing it, even if you still aren't satisfied is very helpful, though. You may find that after you give it time to breathe (setting it aside for a few days is usually enough for me) that coming back to it, you have less issue. I end up with tunnel vision, so then all I see are the mistakes, or where things didn't pan out, but once I give both myself (and the piece) a break, I find that I can look at it again without feeling as strongly in the doom and gloom category. You can always learn from finishing the piece, and figuring out what you like, or didn't, and what about the process improved or made things more difficult. Plus, it's always nice to have a point to look back on to see just how much better you'll get as time goes on- it may become a great stepping stone in your artistic evolution some day!

Thanks! Yeah, I think I'll let it stew a while... I was ok with the sketch, but then it just got worse as it went on.

I feel like that happen sometimes in sketching phase but i know they aren't supposed to look good, just to act as a base for the drawing :D
