Afternoon,

After taking time to acknowledge recent events, I do believe it is time to brush myself off and get back on my feet.

Work is resuming on the next chapter. Getting back to 'Shadows' started off a tad painful, as I haven't touched the rough draft since December of 2019 and it very much showed,. So I've been in the process sorting out the eight pages worth of previously written material. Much of which consisted of retooling in their own right (it was clear I struggled a bit to keep the plot moving) so sorting those out has been the first order of business.

As I'm sure many writers will tell you, once you've written something down (especially something which took a good deal of work to come out how you like,) the first instinct is not to tamper with it until the edit. I faced the worst of this with the chapter's introduction, of all things. It wasn't terrible, but it was expository and risked Travelogue Syndrome in places.

In the last couple weeks however, ideas continue to fall into place. It seems the muses have been kind to me, and I can only hope I can transfer it all to the page as best I can.

I'm sorry this story has taken so long to continue, but better late than never.
