Convention Work 2018
Posted 7 years agoDrumming up interest for Registration convention staffing (feel free to share around). The regIT team runs registration for San Japan. Registration this year is 20 of the roughest, toughest, rootin, tootin, hardcore professionals you are likely to meet. And we're looking for some new people.
Registration staff don't just work a couple hours a day and spend a bunch of time going to panels or hanging out with friends. Registration staff aren't volunteers. You don't have access to the perks San Japan offers. Registration is a little bubble that exists to kill lines as long as Registration is open Thursday-Sunday. Compensation is also a little different too.
Bed space, travel reimbursements, badge, shirt, we eat well, and greenhorns get paid. This isn't volunteering, this is Thursday-Sunday Registration hours you are clean, dressed, and working. Your hours off are when Registration is not open and what you do on your time is up to you so long as you're ready to work again the next day. Sleeping is encouraged.
If you are over 18 (we prefer over 21), work hard, have cash handling experience, play well with others, and if you have convention experience (that's a big plus) then message regIT (or

Posted 9 years agoCan't think of a nice comment to leave someone? Check out this little comment generator (that I recently updated) which will generate random positive (although sometimes seemingly snarky) comments. I've been seeing too many mean-spirited comments on posts that really shouldn't be getting them so I figured I'd try to spread some positive around. Pretty simple comment formula (noun, verb, adjective) and let me know if you'd like to suggest something (noun, verb, adjective, feature, etc).

Auction Description
You are bidding on a large Husky tail. Measures about 43 inches long and 18 inches wide at the base. Despite it's length and girth it's quite light *about a pound total* at the base due to it's skeletal structure I have dubbed the "banana hammock" *lols* 3 straps, 2 larger and one smaller stretchy one in the middle, are attached to the skeleton and only superficially to outside of the tail itself. Straps are fleece on the inside for stretch and upholstery leather on the outside for strength and later furred over. The tail has a beautiful heavy swish side to side and rides high with a 2 inch belt, bigger bounce and a lower hang with a 1 inch belt. Tail is in new condition and comes from a house with a cat. If someone decides to "buy it now" I will include a sturdy belt at no extra cost. If you are at all interested in matching hands, ears or feet let me know and I will be happy to show you some of my other commissions and talk price after the auction has closed or feel free to e mail me. Posted 16 years agoI think I just got put on "hold" with a tech support chat. I didn't even know they could do that..but all of a sudden there was drowning, horrible elevator music and the word "HOLD" flashed on my screen. That's..kinda special.
In other news, my presence was requested by Anime Detroit to run their Registration..in two weeks. >_> But they're paying for everything (rental car, gas, food, hotel) so I'm good. I guess my name is finally getting spread around. *beams*

Not coming back next time..and Kuroneko Printing Update
Posted 16 years agoThe last time I stayed in Austin for more than a weekend it was because my car was broken and I got stuck there for a week. Last weekend was Mizuumi-Con (http://mizuumicon.sanjapan.org) and this time I stayed for three days after the con. I've been toying with the idea that next time I go down there, I'm just not gonna come back.
Maybe it's just different scenery or maybe it's about feeling free again but I need to be somewhere else. Somewhere that I don't feel smothered and stifled. I can just about see what I need to do to make this change happen and I'm actually sorta surprising myself at how..what's the word..cavalier I'm being about my future. Sometimes I think I don't really have a right to be so frustrated with my current living situation but it's just wearing me down. And who does the guy with a shoulder lean on, hmm? Maybe that's what I'm tapping into when I'm down there..that it doesn't have to be this way. I mean, while I was down there I was getting work done, in fact, one of my clients called me about some consulting and next thing ya know I've just spent two hours working. There was nothing forced about it and I want that.
Over the past two weeks, I've come to the slow realization that Kuroneko Printing (my furry-geared print shop) can actually start off even if it isn't creating shirts at first and instead just doing large format prints (or smaller 4x6" and 8x10" prints, for say, artists going to a convention to sell their prints). That's pretty exciting to me cause it means I don't have to wait to get things moving but (after getting the website going) can be printing out furry arts tomorrow. But that does bring me to something that I can't really do myself for KP..and that is get the logo going. I sort of have an idea for it and I'm considering doing a contest about it to see how creative the artists out there can be with my little idea. I'll post more about that in another journal.
