Well, hurricane Gustav has come and gone. Just got power back sometime Friday, and everything seems to be in working order. Fortunately, the only damage at the apartment was my AC compressor (big outdoor fan-in-a-box) was blown off the slab. The conduits were bent to the point of breaking and the wiring was flooded with water. Thankfully the maintenance guys had that fixed by the time  Skoon and I returned last night. So, aside from still not having a fully functional computer, we're back in business.

Well, my computer died again a couple months ago, as anyone following  Skoon's journals will know. We just had our friend look at it; and it seems, yet again, that the hard drive died. So I guess that means I'm 0 for 3 on hard drives. Oh well. Starting all over for the fourth time can't be all that bad, right? >.<

Well, that was a blast! :3  Skoon's family is absolutely insane, and they're so much fun! XD Don't listen to what anyone says to the contrary: there be rednecks in upstate New York! XP

The weather was very kind to us, giving us mostly sunny skies for the whole time we were there. All that wide open countryside was just beautiful! By the 2nd or 3rd day, I was fairly comfortable navigating the hills around the Finger Lakes.

I'd love to go back in the future. Hopefully, by then I'll have a car that can handle the trip. I don't want to rent a vehicle again. Adds way to much to the already high cost of the trip. >.<

Aw hell! I haven't had any time to go through my submissions for a while, and now I'm 2 months behind... again. >.< I even missed a gift pic from  ruaidri, which I'm somewhat embarrassed about. o.o;

*overdramatically slams fist* I must do something about this! To the Fap Cave! *pushes a button and falls through a trap door leading to a "fully equipped" computer chair and desk* X3

A couple updates. First, the group that broke into my apartment have been

hitting several other apartments in the area,taking only things of no "high"

value that can't be traced. The bad news is there are no leads as to whom

these people might be. The good news is it seems they never hit the same

place twice. I think this particular part of 2008 may be at a close for now.

Second, my PC is finally fixed courtesy of Blackwolf12tails (thank you!)

Unfortunately, when my old motherboard fried, it took the file registry on my

hard drive with it. What that means is everything I have on that hard drive

is still there, but is completely inaccessable because the computer doesn't

know where it is. So technically, I now have a brand new computer to start

all over with. This time, though, its not going anywhere near the carpet. XD

And now for something completely different. Last week I got tagged by

After a long evening of getting my car door fixed and finding a Hub and new keyboard, we returned home last night to find our apartment broken into. Whoever it was managed to open my bedroom window, track mud and dirt throughout Cookie's "fucking carpet" (actual quote), and make off with every non-animated movie we have other than "George of the Jungle 2". They also ran off with Leon's wallet, which had ALL of his personal identification in it. Needless to say, we were shocked. Well, Cookie was fucking pissed, but that's a grand understatement. With my birthday coming on Sunday, I'd say this was a wonderful gift.

As soon as he got the numbers from his parents last night, Leon called around, and he now has his cards cancelled and all of his accounts being watched. We'll probably find his wallet either thrown on the ground somewhere near the apartment or in the dumpster, and I'm somewhat expecting only the money to be missing. We think whoever did this probably had a buyer wiating for those DVDs, and just wanted whatever loose cash was lying around. We also think we aren't the first for this person or people. They at least had the knowledge to wear gloves so as not to leave fingerprints.

I'll be heading over to the apartment office soon with the police file number and a few questions. According to Cookie, earlier yesterday someone apparently came to the apartment claiming to be maintenance needing to spray pesticide in the kitchen. Cookie wouldn't let him because he doesn't want brown recluse spiders moving in, but that's beside the point. The problem is he had no equipment on him whatsoever. No tank full of pesticide on his back, no spray hose, nothing. Cookie and I think this person could have been a scout for whoever broke in. He had a key and let himself in after knocking once, though, which means he really could have been maintenance. I'll be asking at the office if they sent any pest control people yesterday.

I may be around even less than usual for a little while. My home PC has decided to crap out on me. At first, we thought Windows had crashed or become corrupt, but now it seems I may be needing to look for a replacement motherboard.

Because I can't use my home PC, and since accessing material such as what's here from where I work is generally frowned upon, I may be gone for a while. :(

I kind of expected no one to answer the questions journal. No one here other than  stripedfox really knows me well enough to make the venture. Oh well, that's life! X3

Yes! I have finally come out of the shadows in an attempt to become more active around here. It might be a little slow going at first, though, since the only time I seem to remember to check in here is while I'm at work. I need to start doing this at home. ^.^;
