It's never easy
Posted 13 years agoSo yeah, most of my closer friends know, and if you noticed I changed my front page, it is sad but true that I have broken up with 
hallet
It's really no one's business, nor do I really need to write something like this, but I will to try to avoid too many questions.
We just realized that things were not where they needed to be in our lives. Hallet unfortunately had to move back home to his parents house in Michigan for now. I wish him all the best, and great success in his future endeavors and hope his life can be what he wishes it to be.
As for me, I'm trying to re-find myself. I need to set some personal goals to follow, and need to get back to being comfortable in my own skin.
We are currently still talking a little, and plan to keep it that way. It helps make the transition easier in my opinion and the fact is that we spent six long years together. With our own personal growth, and time, who knows what the future will hold.
For those of you here in So Cal who really considered Hallet a friend, please don't lose touch with him, I know he would appreciate it if you keep contact with him and such. And for any of my midwest followers, if you're near South Lyon, MI look him up! He needs some new friends too!

Posted 13 years agoFC sucked. I wish I had stayed home. My own personal reasons. If you know why, cool. If not, you're better off, trust me.
A few highlights at least:
Getting to meet Painted Dog omg. She is awesome.
Seeing Maly, Jondi, Ome, Dingy, and Matrices.
Seeing Likeshine and blessing her with discounted Christmas sale chocolate.
Getting a fursuit tag.
Riding on Furball's shoulders for the fursuit parade.
Seeing any other friends that weekend.
Dance Competition rocked this year. Lots of talent!
Putting Doryuu in my Kovu kigurumi and watching him freak out lol.
I think that about sums it up.
Oh well, there's always more cons.

Con*Tact Caffeine - A review

It should be no surprise to anyone who knows me, I love Con*Tact Caffeine soap. But today I figured I would post an in depth review!
I discovered this very small business (three total people, working in an apartment) upon attending my first Rain Furrest con in 2010. They were selling this soap, and there couldn't have been more than 6 scents at that time, but it all smelled amazing. We bought several bars, and began using them instantly. My boyfriend and I no longer use store bought soap. We exclusively use Con*Tact Caffeine soap.
Shortly after I believe they opened their online store, and I've been ordering lots of their product ever since. I also majorly stock up when they are selling at any con I attend. I always place a huge order during their Black Friday sale, to give out as gifts to my friends and everything arrives quickly, and looks amazing.
Every bar is hand poured, dusted with pretty mica, wrapped, and packed for mail by hand. There is a lot of care in each bar, but not everyone is perfect. Sometimes they frost or crumble, but as I have learned as a regular customer this is just part of the reaction the caffeine causes in the soap. I've never had a problem with that, and once wet it all washes away. Some of the older bars may lose their scent through the package, but again once wet, the scent comes right back. I still have a bar, I can’t seem to bare to use it for nostalgia sake, from that RF 2010, and it still smells and looks as pretty as the day I bought it.
As for how the actual product works. I personally use my bars with a “shower poof” (seriously, Google that term, you’ll see what it is). I wet the bar and work up a good lather on the poof and use it to scrub. For myself my bar of soap will last 3 weeks to a month at least. My boyfriend is a little harder on his bars of soap and showers more often so his only last about 2-3 weeks. The lather is soft, and the scent is great. With certain bars at random (remember, handmade product, so slight variation from bar to bar even if they’re the same batch!) the scent can be strong on the bar itself, and the lather, but after washing it is left very lightly on the skin. I've never been disappointed after using the product. I cannot use your average bar soap, it dries out my skin and leaves me feeling itchy. I've even supported other small businesses who make handmade soap (places like Geeky Clean, and some folks on Etsy) and as nice as their products are, I just can’t use them without still having a dried out feeling, and needing another shower again to scrub it off. I've never had this problem with Con*Tact. It leaves my skin soft, and smelling so amazing!
I've always received prompt replies to any messages sent, and the shipping has been great considering someone has to personally take their time to pack it up and make sure it gets sent. I live in California, which does mean I get pretty decent shipping speed from Washington. I’m always so excited when the box arrives, and the delightful scents pour out of it.
One time I found we had gotten a bar I didn't remember asking for by mistake, and was really put off by the smell. I simply brought it to FC as that was the next con we’d both be at and I was able to swap it for something I preferred much more.
So overall I really love this very small business, and look forward to giving them my business regularly and for as long as they’re around!

My favorite scents are: Tiki Giraffe, Rainbow Dash Energy, and Applejack Apple Orchard
Hallet’s favorite scents are: Sapphire Dragon, Hematite Dragon, Restoration and Bamboo Grass
If you haven't tried them yet, you really ought to! I especially recommend giving them a second glance if you're attending a con they happen to be selling it. That way you can smell all the amazing scents in person and really get a feel for how everything works :3
Califur 2012 report
Posted 13 years agoMy con was pretty meh. It started out good, had a rocky middle, and an alright finish.
I'd like to start by apologizing to anyone who was unable to sign up for the Pet Auction. I honestly have never had a turn out like that for sign ups! By the time I realized I only had a couple numbers left I had to tell everyone I was pretty much full :c
I couldn't see the size of the line from where I was filling out everyone's paperwork, and I'm really sorry to have disappointed so many of my potential pets! Next year I will make sure people know there are only 25 slots available and count them out ahead of time.
Secondly, apologies again, that the Fursuit Parade didn't extend all the way to the back of the Dealer's Den. That aisle in the middle was significantly wider, and seemed like a much better choice to have the parade route follow. I'm sorry it was communicated to dealer's so they could move to better see things.
Now on the con stuff. There was too much drama for my liking, as usual. Part of it my own involvement, but a lot more just crap people tried to drag me into. No megusta on both accounts. Sorry to anyone involved in stuff I was directly related to, and hope to mend those bridges again once some time has passed.
Saturday night I overworked myself, didn't eat until it was way too late, and worse didn't drink enough fluids. I then went out into the cold night with wet hair. Stupid panda. Now I have con crud.
The few highlights of my con:
Aside from the DD route mishap, I felt the fursuit parade went really well! Yes it's a bit short, but overall felt organized, and we got into the ballroom, and got the group photo done without much effort.
I bought
lucaswolfox at my own Pet Auction :P altho I was a bad owner and was too busy to really take care of him. Hopefully we can make that up later. He's a cool dude, and we don't hang out enough.
I fox-napped
fuchston and that was probably the highlight of my con. I took photos of him everywhere, and even got him an official registered con badge. Kartfox allowed me to continue holding him captive for a while so I can take more photos of his sordid adventures around So Cal.
Sunday night rounded out with the traditional pool party, and finally I got to enjoy myself, relax, and enjoy some times with friends.
Extra shout out to
xavier-woof for following me around on Saturday, helping me with various shit, and be extra crowd entertainment for the Cabaret.
I worked my butt off this year on staff, and I at least hope it showed.
I was really bummed tho I barely suited, and felt like I missed out on a lot of time to spend with friends. Ya'll will just have to fix this in person soon, or at my next con, which is RF in September.
That about wraps it up. I'm also looking for some new folks to possibly add to my staff for next year's Califur. I run the Fursuit department, and I'm looking for someone local who can make it to meetings in Garden Grove every other month or so. Send me a note if you're interested and I'll explain more!

Coco is a little dog, who poops way too much. Hug him with a squish, until his bones go CRUNCH!
Coco is afraid of swans, and little kitty cats. Lets beat him with a stick, or perhaps a baseball bat!
Coco is so small, he sleeps in a real dog bed. He's way too trusting of his friends, he let us shave his head!
Coco likes to dance around, watch him twist and bend! He also has no sense of smell, so he's @Anuvia's best friend!
Coco has an obnoxious obsession with balloons, but he sure knows how to enjoy a lazy afternoon

*Dingy getting me addicted to snap pea snacks.

*Seeing my Russian Husband, and his comrade making us nearly pee ourselves Sunday night outside Headless Lounge. He had a megaphone in suit, and was reading to us from the book of Mao. 'SCUSE PLEASE. WHY YOU FUCK?
*Fuck bitches, make quesadillas.
*Finally getting fursuit pictures of me and Hallet together.
*18 bars of soap, 5 den warmers, and 3 scent marking from Contact Caffeine!
*I bought a print in the art show, mainly because it had googly eyes glued on the plastic sheet :P

*Made fun of the entire Masquerade, save one or two skits.
*Ripped on Dance Competition. Good lord, this year was boring compared to other years. Seeing as they held auditions this year, I'm almost scared of what didn't make the cut. Choreography was really hard to watch. Enjoyed Freestyle category the best, that's the kind of dancing I like to watch!
*Suited up, of course. Had both Brandon and Omi. Omi had new head-hair, and I had new arm warmers to wear with both suits.
*New Kovu kigu. Hallet ran around in Discord kigu.
Overall, we enjoyed ourselves. At the same time, this just didn't feel like FC. Change of venu aside, I enjoyed the Marriott hotel (despite the awful air system which wrecked everyone's sinuses), the issues I kept hearing of at the Hilton were all pretty dick, and the convention center itself just felt SO HUGE, yet stale. The headless lounge was hard enough to find that I had to ask around, also wtf did they pick the smallest room in the building? There needs to be at least one more head tree in there, and WAY more space. The outdoor patio was nice, but more often than not full of smokers, so sad face there. Dealer's den felt smaller, and always way too packed. I had a hard time finding a lot of stuff, and didn't even know about "2nd stage" until the night there were dances in both rooms!

I will put you in touch with a female fursuiter who missed out on getting tagged. If you would like explanation on why I'm chosing other females, contact me privately as well.

Califur 7: Post Apocalypse 2011 report

This was my second year as Lead for Fursuit track, and I think it went a lot better than last year, and all my events went really well!
My first shoutout has to go to Coco_chocolate_wolf who was my 2nd in command for the first time this year, and without him I would have been scrambling to get everything covered. I hope we can be a team again this next year!
If you'd like to give me any feedback regarding Fursuit Track (fursuit panels, the Pet Auction, the Headless Lounge, the Fursuit Parade, Dragon Scales photos on Saturday) send me a private note!
We arrived Thursday night. Hallet was at the hotel most of the day doing set-up, and originally we weren't going to stay at the hotel that night, but Groggy offered to let us crash in his room for that night, so we took him up on it. He and Hallet stayed up hella late trying to each finish a few fursuit things. Gave Coony his cookie plush earlier that evening.
Wore my Weenie Roast '06 shirt for Friday, just to be ironic. Of course there were reg issues, but come on guys, it's Califur tradition! :P
We were cool enough to open the Dealer's Den and Pet Auction later that evening to people with non-badges to make up for the problems.
I had a panel that day which I think went really well, I'm sure Kero will have the video uploaded on YouTube at some point and I'll link to it here.

For the first time, Coco and I helped out in running the backstage portion of the Pet Auction. We had about an hour to get 26+ suiters (and 3 non-suiters) signed up. All of our pets got sold, and we had a pretty easy pickup system! I hope everyone had a good evening with their new masters.
Got in Brandon to suit for a bit, took some photos with Lightning from KROQ, wandered about, ran around with Midwest Cougar, and Even and Brawl for a little bit, before desuiting. Eventually just chilled with Furball, Evan, Brawl, Dusty, Far, Beetle Cat and eventually Yipee for a little bit. Called it a night around 4am I think.
Saturday had to stumble awake and make it down for a reprise of my panel. Helped make sure Dragon Scales was good to set up for the photo shoots for the day. After that pretty much had to get suited up in Omi as Tank Girl and start getting prepped for the fursuit parade.
This year we tried something new, and we were allowed use of the Tuscany Ballroom out by the pool as an ending point. Suiters could go in there to get out of the sun, and de-head if necessary for a break while they waited for other suiters. Then we came back outside for a group photo.
I already know for next year, we need to have water stations waiting in there, and a longer break before I bring everyone out for the photo, but for a test I think it went well.
Came down with an uber headache that took a while to ditch, so sadly I missed FNL, but thankfully felt better in time to go to the Cabaret!
I put pennies down Mara and Raj's shirts >:3 After that Hallet had Cheza do a headstand in his crotch, and Kat the Leopardess came and rubbed her boobs in my face lololol... You can't embarass me!
I got a kiss from Mara, because I had the cherry chapstick XD
Cab didn't get out till midnight, went back and got into Brandon as a partial with my Kings jersey to mingle with the KROQ folks. Got back out of suit, wandered around, found Drunk Bucker™ in the FNL party, making up two line rhymes using everyone's real names. Eventually Hallet texted me and found my way to Nicole Alveraz's room (KROQ DJ) where we chatted, and kicked back. She wants to have her fursona as an owl, like Hedwig from Harry Potter. She also swears Yipee was meant to be a flamingo, not a coyote.
Sunday, woke up to the best surprise, being told we didn't have to check out till Monday! XD Took it easy that day, had no major events, only had to go to the Scritch and Bitch. After that tho, had to use my truck with helping of break down, to get stuff taken out, so my original dinner plans got cancelled. That’s ok tho, since it was pretty nice being able to help out with the con so much this year. Hallet and I did eventually get to go out with Kisho and some of his pals, once everything was taken care of. We ended the night in the hot tub for like 3 hours, relaxing, and having some drinkies…
Now then, I need to gather up video and photos to send to Whiskey! He says he prefers videos be in avi or mpg format. For me to collect all your files, either zip them up so I can download them, link me to where they’re already uploaded so I can download them, or bring them to me on a usb/sd chip that I can return to you later. I have to download all the files onto my computer, and put them on a usb drive which will be mailed to Whiskey. His connection over there isn’t strong enough for him to download all the footage online, so that’s how I have to get it to him! Note me here with links, etc, or email me pretty.omi[at]gmail.com

First off, if I forgot you, my apologies. Secondly if I haven't already added you to my watch, etc, SHOUT! I wanna keep in touch with peeps!
So we got there on Thurs night, and Hallet and I promptly went out to Norm's Restaurant with Summercat, Oggywolf and :linkVidwulf". This ended in finding out Vid is very ticklish. We came back and settled in with our roomies, as I really didn't know Fera and Mikey previously. Thru that night, Fera is responsible for our phrase of con, that being "HURF DURF!"
Friday is.... a blur. I know we waited in a long reg line, and I bought things LOL. I know I skipped 2's show, but can't remember what came of that LOL. I had a couple of fursuiting panels, that I think went pretty well, and were fun! I also did my kinda crappy little skit, of me singing along to "I love little girls" in Brandon, then we went to dinner with our pack: Manda, Tully, Kaybat, Odi, Reil, Hallet, Kyrodo, Belle, Marcus, Mew, and ME of course.That night Hallet and I went upstairs, I suited him up in Brandon, while I donned Omi, and I loaded us up with a fuckton of glowsticks for the Friday night dance. That was pretty awesome. I was grinding on some of my good friends LOL and that was for some reason totally fun, and entirely too amusing. And fiyahligerrawr's just jealous I enjoyed grinding on sotheraverfox but wouldn't with him :P I know I also got to talking to
blondefoxy of Don't Hug Cacti as well as 
Silverhuskywolf and Saber of FurrHappens, WHILE I was wearing their iFursuit shirt, so that was funny.
Saturday we got up a little late, but that's ok. I pretty much almost instantly suited up for the fursuit parade. During the end of the parade I got to paling around with
kajiryuujin and 
Amran the Kitty-Fox. I then was teasing Amran about needing to be in the Pet Auction so I could buy him, but it was full. So I "unofficially" bought Amran, then Kaji "unofficially" bought me, so he also then owned Amran by proxy LOL. Sorry Kitty-Fox I was totally fangirling over you, but your just too adorable. So I then did attend Pet Auction to see if there was anyone I wanted to buy, and ended up meeting 
Blaez (in Logan), and 
Mochi (in Martin). They were awesome, so I went to dinner with them. I fangirled some over Blaez too, cuz he owns some awesome fursuits as well. (I guess I'm going to start the unofficial Martin fanclub LOL). Then went to Cabaret with all my pals, which was a lot of fun as always, even if none of the nekkies came our way for us to shake dollars at. Then we suited and glowed up again for Sat night's dance. It ended much too soon, but I ended up palling around with Blaez some more, now in Takota Wolf... I love his claws... He enjoyed giving me shivers, it was funny. Lol, I finally had to give up and go upstairs and go to bed tho.
Sunday was the "Awwwww is it really over already?" day. I found Kitty-Fox again before he left and had to fangirl on him some more ^^;;; I also got to meet the lovely
SoundHound who did an adorable sketch in my book. Not too much went on that day, mostly some last minute Dealer's Den browsing, and making sure to get in plenty of hugs and goodbyes to all my friends, new and old. We checked out that day, but our good pal 
Daemon00 still had his room that night and was alone, so he offered the other bed to us, for some extra time off (it was awesome to sleep on a real bed again, our air mattress messed up my back x.x). So due to that, we went ahead and gathered up most of the pack, and our new pal 
ShardWolf and dragged everyone off to the pool! Jesse and 
Foxtrack threw me in, and my top came off XD fixed that pretty quick tho LOL. Anyhow, so we pooled, and had some fun, and relaxed, before piling a ton of furs into 3 cars to head out to Del Taco! We ate, got in some last minute paling before Dae, Hallet and I went to bed.
Today we finally left, said our last goodbyes to the other stragglers, and headed home. Disneyland was going to be out, since my back was killing me, but
Mooglepower and 
Devidarkwolf were already on their way there, and since they drove down from LA, we decided to go for just a couple hours and that was good.
SOOOO needless to say, con was a BLAST and I can't wait for NEXT YEAR. OH GOD WE HAVE TO WAIT A WHOLE NOTHER YEAR?! No fair...
