Posted 2 weeks agoSo it was my birthday last week—turned 46 yippee—and since then I've been feeling this depression-esque thing. It isn't depression, because if it was I would be also suffer from executive dysfunction and that is impossible because I finished a beading project I've been working on since early August on time! so that is pretty neat in my opinion.
The project, not the depression-thingie.
TBH, the depression I am sure is caused by the passing of Dineegla. It's gonna be a year already in a few months, and I am not quite over it. I miss his snark, his wit, and a ton of other things that liked since we first met in '06. But, I think, it's the terrible feeling of losing a friend that is also getting me.

All in all, this year, from birthday to birthday, has been...livid...to be honest. Me, who boasted how he would revel in chaos and ride the waves, has instead been clutching for flotsam and trying not to drown. I am happy, though, I have folks who have helped me stay afloat mentally and sociably. I just wish some of them lived in my area so I can give them snugs. [sigh]

The stories we tell ourselves and others
Posted 3 months agoFor several years, I have been afflicted with writers block, and let me tell you that shit is stupid and deliberating. Coupled with a near-autistic fixation on the things known as beads, and you get me—a moose who has been trying hard to get back into writing. Of course, it has been a worthless and useless endeavor.
Events these year and the last have been distracting to everyone, but these current months have been really horrible. The mass social media hack, the FB profile shutdown, A.I. slop avalanches, the RGV flooding......and then the deaths! Dineegla's shook me the worse* but his was just one of a long run of death announcements from the local folks I knew both friends and family. It has been a dark year thus far, both local and non, and I feel it will get more. As Elaida Sedai said to the Queen of Andor, "Where the world has wept one tear, it will weep thousands."**
As some of you notice, I am putting old stories from the blog up. It is something I should have done years ago, and I regret not putting them up sooner. (This year has been full of regrets and supplications to be honest) But then, I had writers block and this feeling of feeling grey, old, and really useless to everyone. I need a hug, a boyfriend, someone to truly confide in. I thought I found one, but they ghosted me. Certainly had me fooled for a few weeks, but better weeks than months...or years...
As a counterpoint to all of this—and I know this will shock a few of you folks—I have been given custodianship of the OC known as Billy Bisonario.*** The previous owner has given me full custody of the huge hulking beefy leather-bound over-sexed bison of a stud with the over-packed hyper equipment [bites lower lip, stifles moan]. The reason why I'm mentioning this here is that I have been meaning to tie Din's world with mine in one way or another, and I feel that having the bison in my stories will be a small tip of the hat for all the years Din and MW had with their stories. They wont's show up, but I will make a few tongue-in-cheek references.. Another regret—I should have asked permission for cameos like I did with Sirius and Arc all those years back. [sigh]
I hope you guys have a good evening. Give the folks you love a hug and words of comfort. Turn up your tunage, raise your voice in song. It might be dark, but we can shine as bright as we can.

FEMA came through!
Posted 5 months agoThis past week, the US admin finally let FEMA administer help to our area, and I was one of the first to apply. Yesterday, the inspector came in, fifteen minute tour and Q&A of what happened and damages, and he left. No problem.
A few hours ago, I got a notification of them approving enough to pay for my bed, cleaning the central AC, fixing the garage door, and replacing assorted items that got damaged with the flood. So we're a happy moosie right now. ^_^
The Gofundme is officially closed and deleted, with all of the thanks to the donators and the people who helped spread the word.

An update on the flood and life
Posted 6 months agoI regret to say that the monies that were supposed to be used for AC repair and bed only went to groceries because people *cough*youngersister*cough* forgot to renew their SNAP food benefits, and I had to foot some of the bill for last month's food. I'm sorry.
That said, no takers on the shawl, and the Gofundme has stagnated. My local market booths have not sold anything. it's depressing.
But at least the house is okay. I'm okay (if frazzled with stress). I just thought I'd get this over with already! ARGH!
I also have some things going on with my business. As a reminder, I got a Telegram room for showing off beaded doings.

TL;DR My house is fubared due to flood damage.
Posted 7 months agoSo Thursday night we had this massive storm front come in, like hardcore thundering storm. I thought it wasn't too bad. I did some beading, went to bed.
Two hours later I wake up to find my nephew yelling that the house was leaking. I investigated, and soon enough, the area where the foundation eroded due to Hurricane Dolly ('08) was seeping in water. And was slowly letting water in. Frantically we tried to dry up the leak but it didn't work - the water kept coming in. And soon after, the rest of the house was letting water in. I kept on praying it wouldn't get worse, but sadly, it did. We put most of the things that were on the floor on higher ground, so we're ok with that.
Around four, five-ish we kind of gave up. We called 911 for an evacuation, packed up what we could, and tried getting the pets. I say tried, because when I tried to carry one of the cats, she clawed me and scampered back into the house. I told the two to leave and I stayed in the house making sure kitteh was safe.
Meanwhile, the water kept coming in until it was about 2 inches deep throughout the house. I stayed in the bathroom informing FB of the situation and what could be done, etc.
About 9, the storms slowed, and the waters started to recede and drain. I spent the rest of the day cleaning the floors, making sure the house was ok. Garage was flooded, so I had to open the door to drain it.
The kicker are the two guest bedrooms, including mine. The rooms were carpeted, meaning all that flooding got absorbed by the carpet. And with no idea how to get the money or the means to fix it now is giving me an anxiety I never felt before.
(Originally written Friday night: "But then it could be that I haven't had my solid eight and I am probably running on fumes. [shrugs]" I now have 13 hours of sleep in me thanks to a flood shelter, and I've calmed.)
I will keep y'all updated with this. I have already contacted Red Cross, and I'm awaiting Texas to declare the area as a disaster zone (though i'm not holding my breath with that)
UPDATE NO.1 Niblings came over to help clean and have found the cat hiding in her favorite cubby corner. They're currently cleaning out bedroom no. 1 (not mine) and using an industrial shopvac to get most of the water out
UPDATE NO. 2 Niblings cleaned out bedroom No. 1, including removing the carpet, and now focusing on my room, which will include the carpet removal. I am thankful they are doing it because if it was me, I would have tried to salvage everything.

Tuesday - The business IG got hacked into and deleted. Had to make a new one.
Wednesday - Telegram got pillaged, getting me out of almost all of the groups. Tried best as I could to get back on.
Thursday - Ten social media accounts were trying to be compromised. Two were on the verge of and were fixed.
Today - Discord got compromised and sending out spam by the dozen. That got fixed.
I am in dire need of a drink, a really long workout session, and a couple of big beefy guys to use me.

I am a young 45 today, and I can't believe I lasted this long in this modern world. I have lived through several plagues, outlasted my parents, have a business, and now drinking a venti cafe mocha with six espresso shots, four peppermint pumps, heavy cream.
I can see everyone's star seeds, and all of them are blanks! ALL OF THEM!!!
Also, I got my Amazon wish lists around for anyone (¬‿¬) who wants to get me something for my birthday. (¬‿¬) (¬‿¬) Or even better, a gift card.
Anyway, hope y'all are having a good day!

Anywho, happy new years; although, it's many days since Jan. 1. I had a covid scare during that weekend, and thankfully it was a wicked head cold that knocked me down with a 103F fever, drippy eyes, oozing nose, and a cough at the end of it all. Thankfully I'm back to normal (or what passes for it nowadays). Also, Winter is slowly warming up, and although we got a heck of a freeze earlier this week, the sky has been a marvelous shade of blue with lots of sun and light, and I feel that I can survive
After the sickness, I got all of my clothes washed and hung, my room swept out, my beads organized, and I'm even doing a V. Day raffle of a necklace/earring set for this weekend's Market Days.
So how's you guys?

Posted 2 years agoLet me completely blunt with this - I am currently suffering from seasonal depression, which is utterly fucking me over with executive dysfunction. I have been late (like weeks late) between orders and shipping, and I fucking hate it. Like just want it to go away and leave us the fuck alone. It is terrible, and I wouldn't want it afflicted on anyone.
I'm taking Vitamin D tabs, and trying to get out of the house as often as possible, but dammit it is taking so much effort to do something besides bailed up with the computer or Warframe.
That said, I have somewhat placed my store on KoFi instead of Shopify. My more expensive pieces are there, but I do have plans on putting more out there.
That is, if the S.D. isn't fucking me over like it's been doing this past two weeks.

As you notice, the shop link is offline. Has been for quite a while and the fact that no one *at all* commented/complained is wearying to my soul. Better in than out, I always say.
Also, I got updated links. Yay. The Ko-Fi has items for sale. I didn't know you can do that with them until recently, so I'll be stocking some of the more pricier items there.
Speaking of which, I am more than willing to get a beading commission of a bracelet or such. Check the Scraps for more info.
One last thing: Our Central Air unit has been needing someone to clean the coils - the unit hasn't been cleaned in more than two years. However, the guy is asking for $250 for the entire maintenance. If you wish to help me out with, my tip jars are open. And, as I say again, if you want me for a custom beading commission, I'll be more than willing to discuss terms.
