Posted 12 years agoMy experience at Condition was very mixed and I truly don't believe in being silent so here it goes. Please note, I'm writing all this in hopes of sharing my experience, providing feedback, and hopefully suggestions to prevent problems in the future. I spent a lot of time thinking before posting this in order to ensure that I would be cool, calm and collected when I did so. I do intend to send an e-mail to con staff to share my thoughts and suggestions.
I had fun spending time with friends specifically evesske, ace~shep, 
jello-vair, 
atreynu, 
kiaa, 
babytwizzy and 
fijimonster Met new friends 
airless, 
valrusthetiger, 
simbayo, 
unknown0species, 
andrewisgreen. These people were what made the 6+ hours of travel by bus, train and car worthwhile.
Lady furs went off very well. We had 25 ladies attend the panel which is almost 10% of the con attendance so I'm pretty darned happy with that. Everyone seemed very pleased with the badges, games, and the weird improv that happened (Eve picking fights with Ace Shep, gummy-sweet and Kiaa, and getting engaged to Ace Shep). The charades included a priceless moment where Evesske was playing dead and Kiaa guessed "having your period" which lead to a roaring laugh.
#roomcon happened too which was hilarious and silly and just amazing!
The swag I ran off with: a snow mew bookmark from Heather Burton, snow mew plush, and several balaclavas from
firestormsix
I will admit that Condition is not on my list to attend for the future because of the harassment I experienced by non-furs on hotel property when my hands were on the door of the hotel. This occurred after walking
koray and 
pyat to their car in suit with large group (around 10) of women (some suiting and some not. I was the last one in due to the rotating door. I'm a rape survivor and I will say that I was triggered very badly and found myself crying and clinging to Evesske. Fijimonster and 
CajunFox were the first responders and handled things exceptionally well. This will lead me to say that I don't think Condition is a bad convention but I don't feel that security is very strong there. I think stepping up security, making security very identifiable with bright coloured shirts (because when in a panic I wouldn't look for badges or hats), and if there's been harassment issues during the daylight hours to step up security at night and give all attendees a heads up to stay indoors. In addition to the security issues, I couldn't find the sponsors lounge until the Sunday which by then paying for it didn't seem worthwhile. The con book didn't specify a location and I was told that the times listed in the con book were incorrect. I wound up spending a lot of money on food when I didn't expect to -- that would have been better spent in the dealers den.
I do want to highlight my thanks to Fijimonster for being awesome in a crisis, and Simbayo too!

Radio Silence - Condition Wasteland

I'm leaving tomorrow at 6:30am for Condition Wasteland and returning home on August 8th in the evening. I probably won't be back to normal activities until August 11th because of my birthday celebration on the 10th.

August is a busy month (cons, birthdays, oh my!)
Posted 12 years agoAugust is a crazy month for me this year!
I'm going to my second furry convention, Condition Wasteland, with my first full suit so that should be entertaining. I'm already trying to use my tetris and jigsaw skills for packing. I'm leaving Ottawa July 31 and getting home the 8th. When I get back, I'll get eikofinal's badge done and do all the raffle stuff I need to do and then I'll be open for commissions.
August 13th is my 30th birthday. I'm hitting greymuzzle age officially... oh noes! But really I'm looking forward to celebrating with local furs and friends on August 10th and hitting a burlesque show probably on the 18th to celebrate with the local showgirls! :D
I'm apparently starting the process to get my passport and am starting to make Christmas plans which include a visit to
guinnscustomcreatures. :D This excites me to no end. Why do I want to show up in full suit and confuse his daughter to no end (last time she saw QP her mother was wearing her).
I'm also... waiting impatiently over registration for Furnal Equinox to open. I need to register for that and book rooms.
I'm also getting kitten eyed by Koray and 
Casey regarding MFF ;_; If I'm travelling in December, MFF is not happening this year ladies.

Black clothes, black shoes. White ... gets dirty way too easy. Same goes for fursuit feet.

Regular, my body can process sugar, it doesn't like the sugar alternatives.

Art/Commission To Do List
Posted 12 years agoI'm up to date on paid commissions other than for one, I need to ship one out and prepare all the Condition delivery ones for delivery. I'm gearing up to get ready for Condition Wasteland, and adjusting to the... intricacies of owning/wearing a fursuit so I think I'll hold off on the raffle/prize badges/icons/etc until after I return from Condition. I won't open for commissions until I'm up to date on the raffle stuff!
If you're a Condition delivery badge, I'm thinking delivery will be on Friday evening outside of the Lady-furs meet after it wraps up. Check the con book for details. I just want to be able to have a meeting so I can hand out everything. :) I arrive Thursday around 3pm so you could call me starting then to meet and pick up your badge.

Posted 12 years agoI'm up to date on paid commissions other than for one, I need to ship one out and prepare all the Condition delivery ones for delivery. I'm gearing up to get ready for Condition Wasteland, and adjusting to the... intricacies of owning/wearing a fursuit so I think I'll hold off on the raffle/prize badges/icons/etc until after I return from Condition. I won't open for commissions until I'm up to date on the raffle stuff!

Squee Condition is coming. I'll admit I'm getting excited since I leave Ottawa on July 31 and return August 8. I'm only in the hotel from August 1 - August 4. I'll be spending the rest of my time in Hamilton. I'm working on organizing a meet in Hamilton with Koray on August 6 in the evening.

Posted 12 years agoSo in order to promote guinnscustomcreatures and shamelessly spam FA with photos of my fursuit head I'm doing a raffle! I'm raffle-ing off a free headshot badge commission and if every 100 entries I will add another badge. I will ship them to you with badge clips.
My fursuit is being built by guinnscustomcreatures and will be on display at his booth at Anthrocon. Their website just came online at www.guinnscustomcreatures.com which I built myself. As well as making custom fursuits they will be selling made to order parts from their online store http://guinnscustomcreatures.com/?page_id=26 .
There's two ways you can participate in this raffle:
#1 Entries accepted between July 1 - July 7. You don't have to be attending Anthrocon
-> Post a journal on your FA account linking this journal!
-> Comment on this post with your journal link.
You can only post the journal once and it's only equivalent to one entry!
#2 Entries accepted between July 4 - July 18. You must be attending Anthrocon and:
