completed my long ass drive from Arizona to Dallas and back again. I got some art that I`ll be scanning.I talked to several cool artists.I hung out with a few friends. I did have a disappointment of finding out most of the Blackeyepea restaurants closed.I had to drive like 35 miles to the only one left in Texas in Arlington. Also my car battery died on me monday night in EL Paso. Fortunately I had road side assitance from my auto insurance and got a jump.And i had to spend 2 hours at a PepBoys there to get a new battery.But it certainly could of been worse.It could of died somewhere out n the boonies dozens of miles from any major city.

Just to let anyone who cares to know that I finally booked a room and paid for con admission.So its official that I`m going for sure. If I know you and you need a space.I could discuss room share.But if I dont get anyone thats fine as well.I`m not desperate to let just any person in the room.

where  Darkeshi went? I havent seen him post anything in over 6 months.

Ok so I want to get that 2015 journal off my main page and write up something for the new one.
I`ll be staying at the Omni wed june 29 through monday morning after the con. If anyone out there I know or if youre an artist I know of need a room I`d be open to discussing room slots since atm I only have one roomate penciled in.Ideally Id like to get another 1 or 2 for at least thursday through sat nights at least or fri through sunday .But like I previous mentioned,I am there wed through sun nights if anyone needs a spot wed night.

so I have a room booked for Anthrocon at the WIlliam Penn Omni. A really classy old hotel fairly close to the convention center. I`m checking in Wed July 8 and checking out Monday morning July 13. If anyone I know especially artists (who could pay partially in art even ) are looking for a place to crash let me know. I`ll also accept people I dont know possibly but because of past people flaking out on me I will ask for a deposit to reserve a slot in the room. I have to ask because over the years several people have not shown up.Last year someone did not show up even after paying a small deposit!

Or I`ll totally forget everything from my TFF trip before I write it down. This might all be a bit boring to you.I`m mostly writing it for myself.

So my trip begins very early Feb 21st.I was hoping to get on the road with a local fur  lockewolfe by midnight but because I went to bed later then I would have liked and procrastinating on some of my packing we didnt get on to the freeway to Texas until more like 245 am. It wasnt too eventful a trip.We stopped ofr gas in Lordsburg New Mexico,Elpaso, Abeline and I think one other place. I was using my Valero gas credit card so it made me choose where I stopped dependent on stations then when I needed gas.Also In Abeline I stopped at a FAzolis.Its nothing too special.But for fast food its pretty good.Its the only decent fast food Italian place I know of.It beats Sbarro by a mile.
Finally around 1030 pm (when you add the hour time change ) we got to the Motel 6 in Addison Texas.Its not far from the con hotel(about a mile) Though now its the old con hotel since the con is moving next year a few miles away to a nicer and biger hotel. It was needed since the con has outgrown its hotel.Since I was tired as f#ck after driving almost ALL day long we didnt go pick up prereg badges like we had planned. This motel 6 is nicer then most.It was previously a regular hotel I think and now its some corporate training for managers hotel.Its got flat screen tvs and some of the rooms have patios which lead into a courtyard.But my room thursday night didnt have any of that.There was a mix up>I got a smoking handicapped accessible room.It was ok but not as nice as the room I had last year.Also the smoke smell bothered me a bit when I woke up and my allergies were annoyed slightly.
Friday morning though I was able to change rooms though the room wouldnt be ready til later so we just keep our stuff in my car. Later that day my other roomie marthaendragon joined us and dropped off his luggage.Before that though we drove over to the con ,had breakfast at the con hotel buffet. It was pretty good.I met up with several artist at the con .I wont try to remember who all I met on which days but among those I chatted with or commissioned were
 joeartguy who I got a badge and picked up a commission from last year  michele_light who I bought her doggie paddle statue which was marked down for the con and got a commission from  kingcheetah who drew me an owed pic and I bought an art cd of his and a book he worked on "Cantrip the magic Rabbit" with  poinko
I also got a commission from  darknatasha , a pic from  sophiecabra , also one from  animecat ,  daq also drew me a picture, as did  portzebie , Suasan Smit was at the radio comix booth and did a nice drawing for me .I also enjoyed talking  elinwinkler ear off like I always do at cons.I also bought a few books though so it was ok. I got a commission and a free badge from  keishinkae because shes so fricking awesome! .
On friday Night me,locke and  sailoranna went to the blackeyepea restaurant 5 miles or so away from the con.Its somewhere I ate all 3 nights of the con.I miss that place quite a bit.They use to be in Arizona but they all closed down 10 years ago and now they are only in Texas.I paid for his meal so I also got a picture from Sailoranna as well. I also ran into the artist  napsahoy who impressed the hell out of me.If you havent checked out his work yet ,do so! I bought some posters, a sketchbook comic and some buttons from him.
On sat I went to a panel from the bedfellows guys which was very enetertaining. I also continued to deal with getting commissions. I went to the blackeyepea with  Balto  mongooseink and  marymouse who was a very good sport.She had wanted to eat texmex food but was willing to go to keep the group together instead of me heading off to the place by myself.I enjoyed talking with them and hopefully I wasnt too boring myself.
SUnday morning I ate breakfast at a small greasy spoon diner right next to the con hotel with marthaendragon .I finished up my business at the con and yes once again had dinner at the blackeye pea. Before that I attended closing ceremonies. A fe stats about the con, attendence was 1492 which was up 282 people from the year before.And they raised over $11,000 for a local big cat animal rescue charity .Sadly I forget the name off it offhand.
On monday we checked out of the Motel 6 and headed off into the clouds and sprinkles.By the time we got to Abilene and got gas the wind was brutal.I had to stand with my back to the pump to pump the gas since the wind was so strong.It must have been like 40 miles per hour or something.It was a cold wind too.I joked to some lady pumping gas as well "nice weather today huh?"but at least we were not up in the pan handel where they got like 20 inches of snow. After another Fazolis meal we drove on only stopping for gas in van horn until we checked into a motel 6 in El Paso.I was not about to drive all the way back to phoenix in one go after the con! We got a late dinner at a Whataburger nearby then got some rest.
On tuesday we drove back fairly easily.We stopped in lordsburg nm at a wendys for food since we didnt have breakfast. Once we got into Arizona i had a small scare.I thought i had a crack form in my windshield and it slowly grew the trip home. I got it checked out 2 days later and much to my embarrassment and relief it wasnt a crack at all but a fine line of very sticky sap of some sort that looked just like a damn crack! so all in all a good if very long and tiring trip. Next year I hope to maybe find someone to help with some of the driving.

I`m headed off to it on Thursday.If anyone who reads this is going,I`ll hopefully see you this weekend !
