Vox here. There's been some significant chatter among the tech community about frame code names, and that somehow they're secret among Canmephians. Well... I'll let you in on one of 'em.

Drake Bacon? The synth Canmephian that's stationed here in Metroburg? Hir frame series was "R3DW0LF-9" but now is "B4C0N-9" with a few variants as suffixes. The more notable ones are "H" for "Half height" (6'6" tall) and "M" for "Medium" (9' tall).

Me? I'm based off of the "B4C0N-9H" series but due to a few structural changes, it's now the "V0X" series. Only one exists so far, but I be tempted.

We'll be heading home from Japan soon. Just got a lot of stuff to haul. Oh boy am I going to overflow the seat hard. Take it easy, everyone. Vox out.

Hey folks. Vox here. It's Christmas Day here in Metroberg. I'm unusually up, watching the sunrise from the shoreline of Grass Lake, sipping a regular coffee. It's lightly snowing, about six inches already from last night. The shops are all closed for the holidays, save for the regular 24/7 convenience stores. If I check the reports... it should be tapering off by noon, good enough for the kids to play around in the morning.

Before folks ask, no, I brought my car from Odenton and had all the maintenance done. The "PrrfPanzer" is prowling northern California, folks. No sense sucking snow into this frame's vents.

I attended Norse and Hauler's Yule celebrations earlier this morning. Norse celebrates Yule, leaving out oats, barley, and brandy for Santa the day before and opening presents right after midnight. Lovely gifts. I even got a battery-powered soldering iron from Hauler, a high power one. It'll weld steel if set right. That's a keeper even for when I'm back in the flesh and blood. I got Hauler a vintage Detroit Diesel maintenance manual in mint condition and Norse I found an elegant dress that shi took to immediately. It warms my heart.

Later on today Kali and I will visit everyone. Yukon's house is very roomy and it'll be great to see how her siblings are adjusting. I drove by and they were having fun with Sven, their father, just looking on. I'm glad I baked up some cinnamon buns and dropped them off. Sven appreciated that.

I got a few presents for Sam and Max, Lights and Stereo's kids. We'll spoil them rotten in due time.

Drake joined me just now. That synth Canmephian was initially concerned but it's all good. It's good to just mellow out a bit and let folks have a day of peace. They also celebrate a day of Yule as part of their week of Saturnalia, shi tells me. The origins are a bit muddled as there's three camps of thought as to the origins of Yule among Canmephians. One camp says it's when Wolfskunks True and False were born, centuries back. Another camp says it was the time of peak mellowing during the Stoned Ages. The third says it was the day Atlantis disappeared from Canmephian waters...

...you know, that's something to ask Cass about. Maybe she can shed some light. I'll call Coils to see how she's doing and maybe bring Drake along.

Before you ask, no I'm not in a red Santa outfit, but yes, I'm wearing a Santa hat.

So I've moved physical locations, as the job is... actually, rather beneficial. I'm currently going through some actual training on topics that I should of been leveled up on in my previous work. Stuff that would of helped then (outside of being actually in office once the pandemic was over).

I'll be scheduling some sketchwork to try and crank through all the commissions, as I'm getting all the financials settled.

So I'm getting there.

So I'm up by Hartford, CT for two weeks to see how the new job shakes out. We'll see how things come out.

Okay, I got a job offer earlier this week, which shocked me a bit. I agreed to the offer...

...and they needed a lot of info for a background check, then some documentation I had to gather and provide...

...and now they say the background check takes 10-14 days?!? And I start at the end of the month?!?

I didn't have this mess 11-ish years ago. Granted, I understand why they're asking for it (North Korea stealing remote work jobs, been all over the news). I just wish I've been told about it in documentation so I could plan around it better.

When I met Tugrik in person, it was I think Anthrocon, one of the early ones I've attended. He was big in life as he was in character. Sad to hear that he was having issues dating back since then, but I think last time I saw him, he was getting better. It's been too long since I bumped into big blue.

Online, it was FurryMUCK, where I virtually met a lot of characters.

No. Not until there's a clean sweep of administration of Furnal Equinox. It is VERY apparent that the organization culture allows for such a mess to occur. I will not go. It is not worth the money.

Okay, first of all, the age of joke tags is over. It's time you go through and clean up your submissions.

Second of all: *ANY* space, including line separations (like the RETURN and ENTER keys) mean tag separation. So use underscores. It helps a lot if I'm looking for 3_tits and not have to search for "three && tits".

Hopefully FA will start aliasing tags to help with this, and let us report bad tagging.

Needless to say, life could be better. Still looking for a new job. Still need to deal with dad's estate. Still need to empty out the house, donate clothing and shoes to relevant places, and in general de-clutter it so it can be sold.

Per  Wolfkidd (post), RJ Bartrop has passed away.

I have not met him personally, but I will say a few words -- he definitely influenced one of my characters, Yukon. Yukon's in-concert outfit is inspired by one of his early pieces. I don't know how well he took it when I asked him to draw Yukon, admitting the inspiration.

First of all, thank you all for condolences and reaching out to me for support through this difficult time. It means a lot. I do have my older sister and some of the extended family.

Right now, there's some cleanup tasks to do. I need to hit up the nursing home one last time today to pick up one last bag of personal items. After that, I will need to sort through them, pull out the tablets and such, and go through them. I have a spare Nintendo Switch Lite, a Samsung Chromebook, a 7" iPad, and a Kindle that I'll need to clean out. I have his cell phone to disable after I shut down some accounts of his.

I've put in for an autopsy, namely because mom never got one (despite even the hospital wanting to do it but got rejected, right before the pandemic lock-downs). I owe the family that, even though there's enough evidence to point to a cause (the pneunomia he caught). It'll make me feel better that at least *some* process has been followed. I've always thought an autopsy would be performed in tragic situations. Afterwards, the body will be cremated.

Over the next few months I'll be going through his clothing, bagging it up and sending it out for donations. Gotta try and clean out the house a lot now. I now gotta straighten out the financials.

All while job hunting.

It is with sad regret and morbid duty that I have to announce that my father passed away around 1pm Eastern today, October 10th, 2024.

I've always regarded 75 years old as the absolute "You made it" point in someone's life. Where you have paid your dues. Anything more is gravy. It's time to relax, enjoy life, pontificate, etc. Sadly, he only got eight months of that in a rehab facility.

There's a lot of cleanup to do now.

Mom's probably kicking his ass up where they are now.

As of Aug 13th, 2024 at 12 noon, I am no longer employed. The company I've been with for over 8 years has let me go. This was due to a combination of bad timing and chaotic nature of the business.

And I'm burnt out.

I'm taking the rest of the week to recover. I am being paid for the rest of my time plus PTO, and next month is already covered via the severance package. My (old) boss is putting out feelers, as well as my (old) team lead, for programming jobs, but I will be hitting the job market soon.

Commissions will be picked back up during this time, now that I actually have free time. I just got to get back in proper headspace.
