You know...I was trying to remove any and all work of yours from my catalog on IMVU, but now that you reported the two pieces of yours that I accidentally missed, I'm down several hundred dollars that I put into that account myself. I have never received a single dollar back from IMVU for what I did and contributed to that community, and now it's all gone and permanently banned. That's a pretty harsh outcome that I was trying to prevent and be nice with you about. Hope you're happy.

So yeah, my stance on all this? I REALLY don't like IMVU, but this art theft thing has gone from LOOOONG before the buyout. But hey, a bit of help from another site to help whip this one into shape ain't a bad thing, and it'll be a lot easier than FA bobbing along on its own. With the extra support we can probably get the UI updates and all the fancy stuff we've been hoping to get around here.
And as for Dragoneer, yeah, things haven't been perfect, and sadly it seems that hating on the guy is the thing all the "cool kids' are doing nowadays. I know it's easier to imagine him as a money-grubbing incompetent nincompoop and not a human being that's trying to do whats best for the site, but I've met the dude, and he's always come off to me as a genuine guy that's trying to help the community and eats WAY too much shit for it.
And I know you guys are probably gonna give me shit for defending the guy, too. You can keep that to yourselves.
Look, point is, look up there. The thieves are getting their asses banned, and we have Dragoneer to thank for it. Maybe we should consider putting down the torches and pitchforks and help the guy out. If you spot thefts, tell the artists. And artists, take note of who's selling your stuff and note Dragoneer about it. That's what I did less than 12 hours ago, and we're starting to see results. This theft has been going on for YEARS before the buy-out, but now we have a chance to scrub it all out, which will be good for everyone.
Now, if you don't mind, I'mma go chill for the next 23 hours and have a kickass day to myself, and then get back to work on all that art you homies seem to really dig.

Life Update, Work, Ect..
Posted 10 years agoHey guys, sorry about the long go without much chatter here (haven't made a journal since MFF aka Gas-Con) So I figured I'd give you guys a bit of an update
As I mentioned before, Depression was pretty rough this season. I'm only now starting to recover, but December was pretty much a complete wash. I barely got anything done, and after christmas, I literally wanted to lay down in the middle of the road and wait for a very large truck after a family-related incident left me completely devoid of any self-confidence I had (No details beyond a complete and total failure of my own courage, it's a long story). Thankfully one of my friends decided he wanted to help me out a bit financially, and has allowed me a chance to get caught up, as I havent had to take on nearly as much work as I would normally have to to keep a roof over my head.
In the last week I seem to have caught my stride again. I got an average of 3 Thigh-Ups coloured per day, and I hope to keep that pace going. It's gonna take a while to get through the backlog, but hey, that's my own fault for letting it get so bad. The reason I haven't been posting my work is honestly out of fear. You see, whenever I post, I inevitably get notes form people asking if their piece is done yet, and I gotta tell them it isn't, cuz I normally finish, dropbox it, and shoot it to the commissioner for approval. Getting peeps asking if their piece is done kinda makes me feel guilty for having a backlog, which makes me not really wanna work, y'know?
I don't tend to work in the order I take on my commissions, cuz there's always those ones that don't excite me immediately, and I need that excitement to put out my best-looking work. I used to do my pieces in order, and it always jarred me up when I got to the pieces I didnt want to work on but forced myself to, and they never looked all that great. So my current method is looking at the stuff I've got left to colour, and picking from the pool the ones that I feel the most desire to work on, and a lot of the time, something I didn't want to work on one day is TOTALLY what I want to work on another day, so the method lets me put out my best work, cuz I'm comfortable and enthusiastic. And the better my stuff looks, the happier my commissioners are, I get more interested potential customers, and everybody's happy. It works for me.
So, in short, there's the lowdown. I'm comin off a bad depression, I'm hittin my stride again and hoping I can keep it going to clear up this backlog. MFF Aftermath and Thoughts
Posted 11 years agoJust winding down til it's time to leave the hotel, and while everyone else is asleep, I might as well occupy myself with putting out some thoughts on the whole thing before it's time to head home.
It's certainly been....interesting, to say the least. I know by now everyone's heard about the chemical attack that happened Saturday night. The staff did a fantastic job of handling the evacuation of the hotel in a quick and orderly fashion, which is even more impressive when you consider the difficulties that come with herding thousands of furries. It really could have been a far more disastrous situation, so mad props to the staff. You guys rock!
Business was pretty good, and I thank all the peeps that commissioned me for sketches, cuz you guys made this con financially worth it. I feel, though, that it's really my friends, and awesome fans that make MFF stand out for me. And I don't know if it's just lack of sleep that's making me emotional and philosophical about this whole experience or what, but it's been getting my mind churning. More than any other con in recent memory I've found myself feeling more camaraderie and concern for those around me. A couple of my friends were caught up in the attack and had to be looked at by the paramedics, and I was more worried for them than I normally get when shit goes down. I've had stronger reactions to seeing people in weakened states, both physically and in one particular case, financially (I commissioned them right away ,both to help, and because they have rad art), and I also found myself a little more moved by the sights around me.

I asked if they were cool with me snapping a quick pic, cuz they looked cute (and thank you guys again for saying yes!) but the more I think on it, the more I feel touched. Here's a couple dudes just... being themselves, while they still have the time. I dunno if there's love or simple friendship or what, but I know these two will probably have to go home in a bit and go back to their normal lives like most of the rest of us, go back to their normal jobs and do normal people things. But I guess I feel a beautiful honesty there, like they're living in the moment. It just happens their honesty involves animal costumes.
I dunno, I've seen stuff like that at pretty much every con I've ever been to. That Sunday night party and hang out. The artists jam, the suiters party, peeps get drunk, but it's all people being happy while they've still got the time, and it was right there where I really, truly noticed. And I wont lie, I actually cried a little when I was thinking on it. And considering that someone tried to kill people with chlorine gas in the middle of a convention, I think this time, there was that little extra special feeling to this night. Maybe it's just me, but I think we're a little more cognizant of how important it is to cherish the moments we have.
And I think it's kinda funny that it was a gas attack that gave my heart a breath of fresh air.

COMMISSIONS: ADOPTABLE CHOP SHOP (CLOSED)
Posted 11 years agoOkay, so I had an idea for a commission theme. Basically, you give me an adoptable or minor character you're not getting much use out of, and I'll convert them into a synthetic body similar to Borden (seen here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14805103/) except in full colour (thigh up)
The Particulars: So, for in terms of features for a synthetic, I give them the square glowing-edged pupils and a set of horns. Also, at your request, I'd give them a "chassis overhaul" changing their gender and/or build, but I'd keep the species and colours the same (and that's about it if you want). If you want extra gear on them, let me know! (though it might incur an extra charge)

Posted 11 years agoSo, I'm doing a cyborg theme with this batch, which also includes androids (and especially gynoids!) cuz lets face it, I love drawing that stuff, and you guys seem to like seeing it. They're gonna be Thigh-Ups as per the recent trend. Full-colour single character, starting at $200 and possibly going up to $250 depending on detail and difficulty. Even if you don't have a cyborg character, I'm quite happy to start lopping off parts and replacing them with plastic and metal! It's just meat!

Posted 11 years agoHey guys, I figured I'd give the heads up so peeps aren't getting worried. I, like many millions of peeps, suffer from depression. Runs in the family, and it's comin' down on me right now. Lasts a few months, usually. And this season seems like a bad one. It's entirely neurochemical, so it's not like shit's been going horrible in my life or anything.
It's nothing to be worried about. I was on meds in my teens, but after finding they didnt do much of anything and the side effects sucked, so I got used to just toughing it out. The hallmarks of it are decreased motivation, low energy, messed up sleep schedule, emotional dullness, and in my own case, slightly impaired perception (the world literally seems a bit more gray), and some minor memory issues. Basically it makes me out of it and wanting to stay in bed all day. As I said, I'm willpowering my way through it.
I just wanted you guys to know because it's messing with my workflow, and slowing me down a bit overall. I do apologize to all my commissioners for the slowdown. I push myself to get a few linearts whipped up every wednesday night, so I'm more or less on schedule there (Thanks again missmab for letting me use your drawing desk every week!) but I gotta put more work into my pics to make sure they're up to snuff, and that I'm not sacrificing quality, particularly in the colouring stage, slowing me down a bit more.
So yeah, I'll keep my head up, but I figured you guys should know ^^

Posted 11 years agoWell, admittedly kinda close to the con, but yeah, goin' to Condition this weekend! Cuz I always go, cuz, well, it's like, two short bus trips away from my apartment, so why the hell not, right? That and a lot of my local friends actually run that con (which may have contributed to that one year I was GoH....maybe)
Also, this is gonna be the LAST Condition, cuz my buddies actually want their lives back! (running a convention eats a LOT of time and takes a TON of effort, especially considering all the extras they put into this convention. Hell, Cajun, one of the con chairs, PERSONALLY makes most if not all of the food and booze they serve fee to the sponsors!), so needless to say, this is a bit of a party con, which is totally cool by me
I'll be in the dealer's room, next to

Post-Anthrocon Report
Posted 11 years agoAnother year, another Anthrocon attended! That makes... lets see, 2006... 8 Anthrocons. Furry is a drug, yo.
I had a shitload of fun, as per usual. I made a decent haul at the dealer's den, got to see a buncha peeps I only get to see at cons, made new friends, and somehow, yet again experienced new and wonderful...things. Don't ask about that last one.
But something seemed off this year, at least to me. Maybe it was cuz I worked all weekend at the con, and didnt take sunday off as I used to. Had to take care of a few life things that require some money, like having my cat looked at by a vet (he's getting a bit old, but not any less cuddly, I type as he sits on my lap, purring) and taking care of bills. Y'know, the usual life stuff. But I think it wasn't just that.
-Hygene issues seemed a smidge more prevelant. Either that or my nose has grown more sensitive. 6/2/1 rule, people, and bring plenty of changes of clothes!
-I had this weird sense of sinister intent ambient in the air. Like, Anthrocon has become less and less a con that showcases the fandom, the artists, and the furry culture in general, and more profit-focused. The change of the Zoo is a fine example. The new Zoo was a lot bigger, yes, but it was cold, with bare concrete floor and florescent lighting, just like the dealer's room. No carpet to sit down on with a circle of friends and hang and draw with. No warm lighting, and the gentle warmth of the crowd. We might as well have been in the dealer's room all day, as the environment was pretty much the same.
I could go on at length about my observations at the con in regards to, what I perceive, as the first convention I ever went to, and haven't missed ever since, losing its soul slowly. But I want to be wrong. I plan on coming back next year, cuz there's still a lot of peeps that go that I want to see, not just friends but also the fans whom I wouldn't get to meet face to face otherwise, and so I can be sure. I still had fun, I really did, and yeah, I still beam with joy when I see the cliffs running alongside the I-79 leading into Pittsburgh, and I'm reminded of the excitement and fun of previous years.
I wanna feel assured that Anthrocon isnt forgetting what made it -THE- convention to go to.

Posted 11 years agoSo I awoke today to find my ISP had completely disconnected my account, because I didn't pay my bill last month (I never got the bill cuz the guy who set up the account two months ago didn't put in my email addy, wrong phone number, and didn't set up for paper billing like I asked) and since everything is fully disconnected, they would have to open a new account for me, which will take a week from when I pay. So, besides our phones, Coop and I have no internet access for at least a week. Precisely when I need to start getting rent money together.
Needless to say I'm a little boned, and very upset.

One Year
Posted 11 years agoI believe it was exactly a year ago today that I quick my crappy call center job and became a full-time artist.
And to think, I was afraid to leave the stability of the call center. But I gotta say, that was a pretty good decision. I've still got at least one friend still stuck in there, and he's told tales of how it's gone downhill, like how they instituted a "no paper" policy, on top of getting rid of notepad stuff, making you turn in your phone, and in general becoming more and more of an artist's worst nightmare. It happened not too long after I left, as well. I got out just in time. That job literally woulda killed me.
But here I am, actually doing better than ever. I'm down like, 60lbs, the doctors are saying my blood sugar is showing the most improvement they've ever seen in such a short time, I'm steadily rockin' the art thing, and despite my increased medical costs, still keeping my head above water, financially.
It's kind of weird, y'know? I told myself for years that one day I'd live off my art, but I never really truly believed it would happen, and secretly, I found myself bound in limbo between the terror of going for it and the horror of just being another working stiff for the rest of my life. Yet here i am, one year later. Still alive. And I really have to thank the whole community for it. I mean, I owe you guys my life, in a sense, cuz without you, I would probably have had another heart attack, and wouldn't have been so lucky as I was last time.
So, I just wanted to say thank you for this year you've given me. And there will be MUCH more art on the way. I'm coming out of the winter funk, and starting to pick up speed again.

I've still got at least one friend still stuck in there, and he's told tales of how it's gone downhill, like how they instituted a "no paper" policy, on top of getting rid of notepad stuff, making you turn in your phone, and in general becoming more and more of an artist's worst nightmare. It happened not too long after I left, as well. I got out just in time. That job literally woulda killed me.
But here I am, actually doing better than ever. I'm down like, 60lbs, the doctors are saying my blood sugar is showing the most improvement they've ever seen in such a short time, I'm steadily rockin' the art thing, and despite my increased medical costs, still keeping my head above water, financially.
It's kind of weird, y'know? I told myself for years that one day I'd live off my art, but I never really truly believed it would happen, and secretly, I found myself bound in limbo between the terror of going for it and the horror of just being another working stiff for the rest of my life. Yet here i am, one year later. Still alive. And I really have to thank the whole community for it. I mean, I owe you guys my life, in a sense, cuz without you, I would probably have had another heart attack, and wouldn't have been so lucky as I was last time.
So, I just wanted to say thank you for this year you've given me. And there will be MUCH more art on the way. I'm coming out of the winter funk, and starting to pick up speed again.

Yes, I have a weasyl, no there's nothing on it, and I don't have any plans to put stuff on it in the forseeable future.

Giving peeps an update, I've gotten a lot of linework done for peeps, though the winter blahs have kinda been dragging me down on the colouring front, but don't worry, I'm tryin to throttle up on those. And as for posting, if I've completed work for you and it hasnt been posted, it'll be up soon unless ya told me not to post it. I dunno why, but I always feel reluctant to post things. Maybe it's unwarranted insecurity or something.

Posted 11 years agoAnd vice-versa, of course. Alrighty guys, gotta get some money together for rent to pay on New Years, so, I'm taking on a little more work. Gonna be opening for 5 slots, single character, full-colour thigh-high shots. The theme for this batch is "Rule 63" otherwise known as genderswapping. Male character? Makin' him a girl. Female character? Makin' her a dude. Herm character? I'll reverse that too! (normally female but for male crotch-bits? now male except for female crotch-bits!, or if both sets of crotch bits, I'll take all those bits off!). They go for $150 per slot.
As a side note, I'm kinda feelin' like this batch I'm gonna go for a really casual set of poses. Kinda give that slice-of-life feeling. I dunno, I've been looking at a lot of ducky's work lately and he does some really nice, casual work that I really like. go check his tumblr and whatnot, dude's got an awesome style, even if you're not into his kinda stuff.
Usual rules apply, note me if you're interested, and provide ref(s) of the character you'd like drawn. I'll note you back indicating I'm taking it, and give you my paypal addy. Have the money to send up-front via paypal, and the slot is yours once you've paid!

Posted 11 years agoSo yeah, yet another "Hey, FA's back up!" journal for your inboxes. Remember folks, keep your inboxes clean and delete your messages after viewing them so we can avoid this mess happening again! I know too many peeps that let their notifications pile up, and from what I understand that was a pretty big chunk of why FA went down this time. Hygene, folks, INTERNET HYGENE!
Now, I'm just gonna tell ya now that I'm not planning on posting anything for a few days at least, to give FA a chance to get a bit more stabilized. Then I figure I'm gonna start tossing pics up at a rate of a few a day. I've got a pretty chunky backlog of images I've been sitting on, and I think they're about ready to hatch. I fully admit that with the weather change I've been feeling a bit less productive and low on energy, but I've been gettin stuff done as quick as my energy allows. Winter sucks ass. I'll also likely be opening up for some more bust commissions early next week as well, cuz of that wonderful thing I gotta do known as paying rent. Gonna do a Rule63 theme (that's genderswap, for the uninitiated) with the next batch. Enjoy the holidays with the gift of new genitals!
I gotta admit something here, and this might go a little deep. The last couple days I've found myself looking at some of the stuff I've been commissioned to draw, and, stepping back. You know when you're doing something and you step back and take notice of just how strange it is? Like when you sit back and boggle at the very concept of pet ownership? That kinda thing. Take me back to when I was 18 and I can guarantee you I did not expect to be drawing herms, slimegirls, hypers, macro, multiboob, and the like. Hell, even my first couple years in the fandom I woulda quirked a brow at the idea. And here I am, drawing some very strange things. I guess you could expand it out to the whole furry thing in general, y'know? How many of us, before we got into the fandom, saw this coming?
My guess is that it's just us tugging at the leashes of the status quo. We're taught by society that what we do is a little weird, so when we pull our heads out of it, you kinda sit there going "Man.... I drew that weird thing" or "Wow, how did I go from ____ to getting off to _____?" (That'd be a great black card for cards against humanity, don'tcha think?). I don't think it's a bad thing, even if our first instinct is often to feel ashamed. So ya spank it to _____, whatever makes ya happy. And while in regard to unusual kinks and fetishes I'm personally fairly vanilla, I do derive a different kind of pleasure from drawing weird things. I love it when I pull off a convincingly huge-looking macro, or make jaws drop with a cyborg, or nail the light diffusing through a slime creature. I get a charge when I put that perfect expression on a character's face that isnt just a mere smile, but a smile that speaks volumes about the personality behind it.
I like drawing weird things. Not to get off to them (Though I'm not offended if you get off to 'em, that doesnt bug me in the slightest) but because I actually enjoy drawing them. That's part of why I do themed commissions alot nowadays, so I can draw something I'll enjoy working on. If I drew cyborgs and power armor ALL THE TIME I'd lose my damned mind. Sometimes, you gotta switch things up. And sometimes that switch involves a generously-endowed hermaphrodite jackrabbit covered in bees, cuz that's what you feel like drawing, and it's pretty likely there's gonna be someone out there willing to pay to enjoy that. figure out something you like and find a way to get paid to do it, as the wisdom goes.
...I have absolutely no clue where the hell I'm going with this journal. I just pulled an all-nighter and I'm loopy
ANYWAYS, oh, right, yeah, DERP, I was gonna say that FA remains my site of choice for posting stuff. I've got a Weasyl account too, but that's only to reserve the name, and a twitter and tumblr, but my artwork never makes it to those, but they're more for random thoughts and retarded reblogging. If FA ever goes down for like, a couple weeks to a month, I might consider doing Weasyl as well, but for all the technical accidents, Furaffinity, both as a site and as a community has been far too good to me for me to simply abandon her. I'm staying the fuck here!

Posted 12 years agoI must say Midwest FurFest this year was simply the best con I've been to in a long damned while! I mean, other cons were pretty kickass in and of themselves, but this year there was NO DRAMA! or at least none that I noticed (I'm kinda lame when it comes to drama happening around me) I actually had a fully good time, made a fair amount of bank, recieved a buncha awesome art in my sketchbooks, got to make a LOT of peeps smile (btw, those I couldnt do art for I am sorry, I'll make ya smile one of these days!) and, well, didnt get a whole lot of sleep but whatever, it's a con! I had FUN!
So yeah, Hella awesome. Now the second part. I suddenly got hit by this strange urge to draw/colour some goo girls. And I gotta get some money to pay bills and whatnot, so I'm thinking I'll take on a few goo girls. Saayyyyy about 6 of them for now? Yeah, let's do that.

Okay, I'll stop before that gets outta hand. But yeah, my lovely cooper and I will be in Chicago next weekend for the convention, cuz we missed it last year, and that JUST WILL NOT DO. Gonna be in the artist's alley as much as I can, taking $50~ or so sketches, and poooooossibly some slightly bigger things, but if you're interested and going to the con, we can talk things out in person. Outside of the alley, I dunno. I like hanging out. arting with peeps, being a loud jackass and in general having as much fun as I can get away with without causing anyone else problems or getting punched by my loving ladyface.
Also, depending on how I do at the con I might be taking on some commissions once I get home, probably something armor-related but I can't say for sure, we'll see how I'm feeling, so those of you who've been getting your tents ready to camp out for the next commissions journal, take it easy for the next week, it'll probably be the tuesday after the con.

COMMISSIONS!: Cyborg Busts (this time with feeling) (CLOSED)
Posted 12 years agoSo, Admittedly, I've been kinda feelin like, I dunno, I wanna impress myself, so I'm goin to what I know best, and as far as I'm concerned, that's motherfuckin' CYBORGS! but this time, what I wanna do is not only draw cool stuff, but I also wanna work on my expressions as well. Get that emotion in there, so, what I figure is this set will be themed "The Personal Relationship of Man and Machine". Basically, I wanna draw your characters and try to show off their relationship with their cybernetic parts. Do they regret them or see them as lesser than them? ("I never asked for this"), Do they like it? Do they outright celebrate their synthetic bits? I wanna show that off.
Alright, so this time around I'm opening for 6 BUST SLOTS for $200 each (a little higher than normal cuz cyborgs tend to be more complicated than most, and require more effort). NOTE ME with character references, and tell me what kind of relationship they have with their cybernetics (or what they would if they don't normally have cybernetics) (or entirely artificial nature if they're entirely artificial and wanna get existential).
