Friend's tablet is dying

Due to various circumstances outside of his control,
zylenandel is in a situation where he only has a tablet to connect to the internet, communicate with others and write stories. This tablet is also very much showing its age and dying, and since story writing is his main source of income if it goes... well, yeah, bad things afoot.
Currently Zylen is doing his best to build up funds to get a new one going, so if you folks could spread the word about this and help him out that would be amazing. Thank you for reading, and have a great day.

Individual needing help, fast

shinigami-of-excellence is in need of assistance due to a large number of circumstances. Long story short, the last year has not been kind to Duo or his ex Ren, and while they have an emergency plan in action they need funds to make it work. Please check out Duo's streams, send funds if you can spare it, and or spread the word if you can. Time is of the essence for these two and the animals they care for.

Friend in Need
General | Posted 3 years agoHey all;
A friend of mine, a very fun bird by the name of
ZylenAndel , has recently found that the air conditioner in his house has been leaking and creating an infestation of black mold that is going to take a very considerable amount of money to remove. He has thus opened emergency commissions to try and help pay off the procedure, which I think are a bargain considering how fun a roster of characters he has and the ideas he has for his stories.
If you want to commission him, send a donation or simply spread the word, the link to Zylen's journal on the matter is linked in the text above and posted below. Thank you for reading.

Visual Novel Writing Advice
General | Posted 4 years agoSo, I’m looking to write a visual novel, and I’ve got a relatively simple idea in mind. I know I want to use Ren’Py for it, and only four characters have sprites in the game (three side characters and one antagonist NPC) and I have someone in mind for doing concept art for the characters. Problem is just… writing the dang thing. I’ve got the plot in mind, but I wonder if I’m writing it the right way.
What I’m looking for is knowing what pitfalls to avoid, what to keep in mind of to avoid requiring tons of sprites from the main characters or background images. Even formats/sizes for the sprites or programs to make my own backgrounds is something I’m not sure about. If anyone here has any advice for writing a visual novel at all, I’d greatly appreciate anything being imparted.
Thank you for reading, and have a good day today!

Signal boosting for Draconicon
General | Posted 4 years agoHey guys;
So, as many of you are aware, I get a lot of work from
Draconicon, the master wordsmith himself. He writes a ton of stories for a lot of different people, and hot damn is his work ethic something to aspire to replicate. However, as of late Drac has found himself needing to restructure how his operations work, and for that he needs a couple weeks off to properly do this. The problem is that like many of us, Drac works from paycheque to paycheque, and having two weeks of no commissions is going to be quite stressful for his finances.
To see how you can help and for all the details on what is going on, please check the journals I am linking below. It would mean a lot to Drac and myself if you could spread the word. Thank you very much for reading everyone, stay safe and have a wonderful day.

Coming back
General | Posted 7 years agoOkay then. This is a very long time coming and and I really never expected to do this.
So, first of all, let's address the big matter here; my idea for the Contest Of The Capes fell through pretty badly, and it's all on my own shoulders for it. I shall give a summation on what happened.
I started a story contest to try and get more people writing stories in a kink/genre I enjoyed. To that end I recruited two writers I greatly enjoyed the works and opinions of, Draconicon and Danath, Danath in particular helping me actually create the dang thing. People submitted stories once the contest was released, prizes were ready and paid for, and after the deadline had come to, been extended and come to again, the judges gave their opinions. Then things went quiet and nothing came of the contest. What happened?
Quite simply, I became a procrastinating wimp. I hate telling people criticism because it may hurt them, and I hate the idea of hurting someone after having unintentionally done so. I hit a brick wall in how to voice my critiques of the stories, and those of the other judges too, without potentially offending anyone. As such, what was supposed to be a quick reveal turned into a drawn out never, to which I am very sorry to everyone who wrote for the contest, and to Draconicon and Danath for having nothing come of their involvement.
I have attempted to write and submit this journal several times over and yet not posted it simply because...well, the same reason as above. I am a procrastinator, and will avoid unpleasant things if I can. Admitting this made me feel uncomfortable and I ended up not doing it. Naturally, this didn't solve anything. The people involved in the contest shall be given their dues, and I will make it happen. I doubt I'll be hosting another contest in the near future, but if I find myself growing and actually being a better person...well, we'll see.
Thanks for reading this; I hope to be submitting the stories and art I have gotten while quiet, as well as get back to writing myself.

Friend Lost
General | Posted 9 years ago2016 has proven to be a shit year.
Yes, I'm still behind with a ton of things, but if I don't get this off my chest then I don't know if I'll be able to move on with anything.
An ex-friend and I argued about the whole Trump issue - yeah, that festering chestnut again. I'm definitely not for Trump, given he has literally insulted women, minorities of color and religion, homosexuals and veterans who literally gave their lives to make America great (not to mention the whole Mike Pence conversion therapy thing), while this ex-friend does. He found my stance so offensive, even when I very plainly told him I wouldn't espouse the virtues of Hillary (really, this election was terrible) and apologized for being irrational when we spoke, that he stated we were pretty much done and called my apology a "non-apology".
Then I perhaps gave into a vain hope to salvage this friendship and told him I'd listen to the virtues he had over Trump; he gave me nine, with half of them being with links to Breitbart, a website with a colorful number of stories such as "Are Jews People" and "Birth control makes women ugly and crazy". I told him that, while I didn't find his points wrong (I was planning on countering them with other sources), that I wouldn't accept sources from Breitbart given that it is so blatantly sexist, racist and anti-Semite.
He told me we were done then, and then added the following:
"For what it's worth, you were a good friend and i wish you the best in spite of recent developments"
That is the biggest backhand I could have been given. He considered me a "good friend", and then dropped me like a hot potato when I didn't support a man who has insulted anyone not white, male and over the age of 30 (because yes, Trump has insulted millennials), whose vice president would have me (a gay man) be broken down to hate myself so much I'd want to be straight, in a process that leaves over half those who go through it wanting to commit suicide. He would listen to none of it.
And yet he considered me a "good friend". At least if he outright hated me, or wasn't bisexual, I could have just brushed it off and not feel sick to my stomach. I said things I regret, yes, but I apologized for them for the sake of our friendship. I was a "good friend", and spent five years talking with him, helping him with his fursonna issues and tried so hard to be helpful for him. And the difference over a racist man becoming president destroyed all that.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to try and not cry to any mutual friends lest I poison the waters. I've lost a friend already. No need to throw more misery around.

Taiko's Contest of the Capes: Extension!
General | Posted 11 years agoHey there everyone. It's time for another update regarding the Superhero Story Contest, and it's a bit of a big one.
First of all, many thanks to those who showed interest in the contest over both Sofurry and Furaffinity. Considering this is my first one, I was really happy that so many people inquired about it. Seriously, even if next year I don't get one of these going, you guys made this worth it.
Second, the deadline for the contest shall be pushed a little further along. I appreciate that this contest was ill timed, and next year it shall be hosted earlier on, probably sometime around June or July. It shall not be put in the running-time, and time during, school, that's for sure. Therefore, the new contest End-By date shall be October 14th! All other rules and restrictions apply, however.
Third, I apologize for not posting many update journals on this contest - considering the length of the wait-time, and the business at this time of year, I should have done more. Still, it's my first time, and I'll endeavor to do better next year.
Thanks again for showing interest guys; remember to look for submissions to this contest with the tag "Supermind2014", and to add the tag to your own submissions to the contest~

Last Quarter for the Contest of the Capes!
General | Posted 11 years agoHello everyone! We are currently in the last stretch of the superhero story contest - only 15 days left to polish up and submit your entries. Once we reach October 1st, submissions to the contest shall be closed. Judging results will be released sometime between two to three weeks after October 1st, depending on the schedules of the judges (this contest wasn't the best timed, I'm afraid).
Thanks to everyone for their interest, and good luck with your entries.

Story Contest: Rules now open!
General | Posted 11 years agoTaiko's Contest of the Capes: 2014What is this?
A story contest featuring superheroes and a certain theme. This year’s theme is mind control! There are prizes to be won, and the contest is open for all to enter their stories, adult or otherwise.
Who’s running it and why?
Hello, this is Taiko, host of the first “Contest of the Capes.” The reason I’m hosting this contest is because I don’t think there are enough well-written superhero stories on Sofurry and FurAffinity. They exist, yes, but not to a large degree.
Superhero stories have a long and varied history. From jaunts across genres, including science fiction, fantasy, horror and mystery, to journeys across time, space and alternate realities, anything and everything can happen in a superhero story. This contest will focus on on stories that involve the caped community and mental manipulations. From mere stage hypnotism to the mental domination demonstrated by the Overlord, mind control exists in a variety of forms. The heroes and villains of stories written for this contest shall have to contend with its influence.
Part of the goal of the contest is to allow people to display their creativity. To that end, while the themes are superheroes and mind control, unique uses of the themes are encouraged. For example, people could attend a party dressed as superheroes without actually being superheroes themselves. A supervillain can be the focus of the story rather than a superhero.
How? YOU decide!
Contest Rules and Deadlines
Stories must:
1: Be submitted from August 1 to September 30, 2014. (Dates subject to change.) To enter your story into the contest, submit it to Sofurry or Furaffinity with SuperMind2014 in the tags, and then send a link to the story to Taiko (the poster of this journal); your story may be posted on either Sofurry or Furaffinity.
2: Incorporate both the themes of Superheroes/Supervillains and Mind Control in a meaningful way.
3: Not be more than 10,000 words long. One story per person may be submitted, and the story itself must have been started after August 1, 2014. Submitting the same story and entering it on both Sofurry and Furaffinity will not increase your chances.
4: Not include the following:
-Gore/Torture/Maiming
-Scat
-Waterspots
-Death
-Underage characters in sexual situations
5: Include a main character of at least one of the following species:
*Dragon
*Otter
*Orca
*Horse
*Orc
*Wolf
*Kinkajou
Prizes
Winners of the contest shall get the following prizes to choose from. The first place winner gets the first pick of the prizes, the second place winner gets the second pick. Should there be enough interest in this contest, a third prize will be implemented.
Prize 1: Short story commission by
DanathPrize 2: Fully painted character by

DanathJudging
Judging will take place over two rounds.
Round 1: Judges will rate each story on a scale of 1 to 5 in four categories.
Technical
5 Points: Spelling, grammar, and writing in general is concise and error free.
3 Points: A few mistakes, but overall does not detract from story.
1 Point: Many mistakes detract from readability.
Theme
5 Points: Appropriate themes included and are central to the story in interesting and novel ways.
3 Points: Superhero and mind control themes are used, but are not necessary to story or seem added in without a reason based on the plot.
1 Point: Required themes are not present or used inappropriately.
Plot
5 Points: Story is engaging and exciting with interesting and unique characters.
3 Points: Story shows signs of life, but includes cliches or other problems.
1 Point: Story is not well-connected and events roll together with no sign of structure.
Wildcard
5 Points: Judge absolutely loves the story and would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the genre.
3 Points: The story is good, but not spectacular. Worth a read.
1 Point: Didn’t enjoy it at all and would not recommend to anyone.
Maximum points possible: 20 (x # of judges)
Round 2: The top 5 or top 10% of stories, whichever is greater, will be judged a second time. Judges will have three votes. The first vote is worth 5 points, the second is worth 3 points, and the third is worth 1 point. The story with greatest number of points will be assigned first place, and so on from there.
Story Starters
Having trouble coming up with an idea? Use one of the starters below! Points will not be added or deducted for using them; they are available simply as an option for people trying to brainstorm scenarios.
Starter 1: The Letter
The letter was small, set on black paper with white lettering, about as large as a napkin. The handwriting was neat but slightly uneven, as though written in a hurry. “Come to the second level of the carpark on the corner of Huster and Midland Way. Do not tell anyone where you are going, or the photographs enclosed shall be duplicated and spread out online. Bring sandwich bags, some cork, and a few pieces of broken chalk. No harm will come to you if you do as instructed. Come before noon and look for the black van on the third level.”
Starter 2: Cosmic Control
“This is Dayton Rockhard from Mayview News, reporting live from the site of the meteor landing. As we reported earlier, the meteor abruptly changed position as it was being tracked last night, somehow changing its course so that instead of landing in the ocean, it landed here, in this unoccupied field. People living nearby are being kept back by police as authorities investigate the phenomenon. We know that people in biohazard suits were seen unloading equipment near the crash site, but authorities are refusing to reveal any details about the situation so far. We will have you posted on any more developments - back to you Chet.”
Starter 3: The Defeat (or Victory!) of Dr. Big Brain
“We interrupt this program with a special report. The disgraced former government scientist known as 'Dr. Big Brain' has attacked a bank in the downtown area. He reportedly used a weapon that causes amnesia in his victims, as well as leaving them highly susceptible to hypnotic suggestion. Early reports on the surveillance videos at the bank show tellers helping the disgraced scientist carry bags from the bank. The villain is estimated to have absconded with $2 million in gold bars. Citizens are encouraged to avoid the downtown area and, if they see Dr. Big Brain, to avoid contact at all costs.”
Starter 4: Invasion of the Feline Divine!
The Feline Divine - a fairly innocuous looking business, set on the outskirts of Novus Ager. There wasn’t anything terribly remarkable about it - a two story building with a jade paint job, a sign with a black housecat and the business name in neon letters, and a few windows looking out over the street. The windows had blinds that obscured a good amount of the interior, although not enough to hide the various bread goods on sale along the walls.
However, anyone who ventured inside the building would find, aside from the moderate taste in its decor, it did have one draw that made it stand out within the city. Aside from their aprons, everyone within the business wore nothing at all, and they didn’t stay behind the counters either. It was still a strictly hands-off-no-cameras type of environment, but the men within drew a fairly dedicated fanbase among the more open minded of the city. It even attracted a few of the caped crowd, especially those who were good at remaining outside of the public eye...
So...story contest?
General | Posted 11 years agoHey guys. So...as the title implies, I've been thinking of hosting something of a story contest. Nothing big and huge like Zsisron, but it would have some similar themes - hypnosis/mind control as part of the stories, the stories would need to be written only past a certain date (but they could be planned out beforehand), there'd be a month's worth of time to get it sorted out, and there would be a prize of art available~
The only problem is, unlike Zsisron, I don't really have a massive amount of funds for the artists, nor do I really know many people who'd be willing to offer their services up for free, or take time out of their busy schedules for the contest even if there was pay.
Now, I'm not asking for people to volunteer their services, or somesuch. I'm more measuring how interested people are in having a story contest in general. Do note, gay stories are NOT the only ones being accepted; you can have intersex characters, female characters, male and female characters, ect. I am just gay myself, so that's my preference. There will be others judging the stories too, so if you're straight, lesbian, gay or omnisexual, or just plain asexual feel free to join in. Clean stories will be accepted, although whether in their own category remains to be decided.
Stories could be of any length, but having one too short or too long could hurt your chances, as well as having it be all porn.
Themes stories could have (not all would be needed, but at least one):
Hypnosis/Mind control
Various Vores (non-lethal/hard, if you'd please)
Some snugglin'
Themes that would not be allowed:
Gore/Torture
Scat
Watersports
Death
Underage characters
Let me know of any questions, opinions, or themes you'd be interested in having in the contest. The contest itself would be held sometime in the later months, since I still need to plan some other things out. Thanks for reading.

Why the hell do college books cost so much?! They're not made of gold and diamonds! And no, this isn't to buy them, it's because they seem to have gone missing and he needs to pay for them now. Any bit of help is appreciated, even if it's spreading the word.

Superhero/Supervillain Group Sexy Picture...suggest...thing.
General | Posted 11 years agoSo, as the overly long name of the title implies, I'm kind of looking into something. For a while, I've wanted to get a group picture involving sexy times and under the theme of superheroes/supervillains. This isn't something all that new, given the awesome work that Dak has done in the past, but I'm a little undecided (well, besides the participants all being men or a certain kind of intersex, and my mule Nor being involved). Thus, I am asking anyone interested a few things:
1: What artist would you recommend for this?
Bearing in mind that group pictures often cost a good deal to make, and that I wouldn't be paying for the whole thing, I'm looking for an artist with a good quality who is affordable. I'm not looking for something dirt cheap, but I'd prefer that everyone didn't need to pay through the nose for the privilege.
2: How many and what kinks/themes would you want to be in it?
This is fairly important as certain artists will not be fond of certain kinks, and having multiple people involved in the piece could make things more difficult, if not pricier, than they need to be. The picture shouldn't be too busy, though I'm not sure how busy this could get. Obviously, the main theme of the picture is superheroes/supervillains, but as to what those heroes/villains will do is up in the air. Hypnosis, hyper, all that good stuff is up, and maybe even something like macro/micro, foot fetish, or vore of some kind (soft, naturally).
3. What would an optimal arrangement be?
Another important element, as it will dictate whether or not this is one train of characters screwing one another, or small groups in the same area. This will help determine whether everyone is under the same influence, or if those groups are doing different kinks (or kinds of those kinks).
When this picture would be made, I can't say, as budget is somewhat limited for me at the moment. Various factors involving the above would need to be considered, consulting with those who want to be involved, and then there'd be how long it would take the artist to make the image itself. Still, if you guys have any ideas, suggestions and or factors I have not brought up, feel free to bring them up.
Thanks for reading, and have a great day.

General | Posted 12 years agoDanath story stream - happening now!
General | Posted 12 years agoFor those of you who remember way back when,
danath used to do a lot of story streams, and I certainly was lucky in attaining spots. Now Danath is hosting another stream, but with something of a twist; as he is currently in need of some money for insurance, the stream he's hosting is a bidding stream.
Here, the base is 5 dollars to gain a 1,500-2,000 story start, and for every 5 dollar increase, 500 words are added to the limit. That's not to say that the stories won't go over the limit, but it's friendly encouragement all the same. The tentative limit seems to be $25/3,500 words, although that remains to be seen.
Be sure to read the rules, and follow the link to the stream in the link below~

And yes, I am aware of FA's new policies, but this was something I posted on my own, without any encouragement from Danath. Just wanted to spread the word a bit.
