I'm at my parents' place in Spain at the moment, and chillin' after working almost daily these past two months. So, uhhh... Since the last journal, I just managed to squeeze into Confuzzled's overloaded registration, and things got busier. I know I say things are busy all the time, but for serious.... Since the start of this month, I've been working til mid afternoon almost every day, and since I volunteered to do the two Sundays for Black Friday shit, it'll actually be everyday until the 8th Dec.... And hohh boy, I'm already running ragged! You may've noticed that I've been super quiet and solitary lately. Tried breaking the solitude around a month ago, then almost immediately cowered back to hermit mode. I think I might be too mentally and emotionally drained to deal with conversations I don't know how to handle, and I know this'll make a buncha people feel bad, defensive, and/or accusatory even, but this is just what I do. All the time. I don't want anyone to feel that this awkwardness is always on them, cuz everyone's different, and I totally understand how frustrating it can to try and reach out to someone they like, and get nothing, for what seems like it'll continue to be nothing, forever. For that, I'm sincerely sorry. Honestly, I dunno when this'll improve, but dangit, I gotta try breaking out of it somehow. Meditation, better diet, fresh air, exercise, lol get a girlfriend, those oughta make it work somehow. Also, I'm ill, hahah... I think the stress and exhaustion from work might've weakened my immune system something fierce. Hey, it's been a while, so update.

Last two months have been busy with work and whatnot, and I've been tired and lo energy as usual, but I have been chipping away at those commissions bit by bit. Apologies yet again for the delays. Life's a sluggg.

Been in a hermity state since that sketchcom stream, cuz of personal drama (edit). With respect to those involved, we're starting to talk it out. Really sorry that they had to find it out from this. Feels bad. Hopefully we're cool and can move on, cuz drama sucks, and I hate it.

Another stream related thing: Some might recall this fella jigglyjuggle who joked that they were under 18, and I ended up banning them from the stream after feeling pressured. They immediately complained that they weren't, and it was only a joke. After realising who they were and what they did, I had it in mind to unban them at some point. I'm an idiot and didn't do so until just earlier today. I noted them to let them know I'd unbanned them, and apologised for the misunderstanding. Then I realised they blocked me. So, uh, anyone who's mutuals with Jiggly, feel free to let them know they're no longer barred from my streams, and that I'm sorry for the cockup. They don't have to unblock me or let go of their grudge, just as long as they know I was in the wrong and also they draw good butts wheww.

Went into a few stressful and emotionally taxing situations, so I'm kinda mixed about the whole experience, when objectively it was a success. I dunno, I'm not sure how to articulate my feelings here. Uhh, uploads starting soon, yay?

Completely off-topic, thinking of next year's Confuzzled. My roomie for the past two times (baltocore bless his soul) will be rooming with someone else next year, so I may be looking out for a new roomie in advance. Either that, or try to get a single-person room, if possible? A word of warning, I'll be fairly picky. At the very least, someone who won't stir up drama, beg for free stuff or try to use me. But yes! You might remember I did something of a PWYW stream last year when cash was tight. I ended up not uploading them because I felt bad about having done quick commissions while regular commissioners were on the list waiting. I'll start uploading 'em tonight before tomorrow's stream, because they turned out p good and I feel bad for having not uploaded them for so long.

It might either be a PWYW like last year, or like regular commissions, except with sketches ($20 per char, $10 per extra) and sketch-paints (double the price) only. Maybe the latter this time. This'll only be while I'm waiting on my next big jorb, and since the con I just went to ended up wringing out a lotta monz. Gotta steam through a lot to make up, hahh.

I accepted payment for a commish, then I got really, really sick for a few days. Very sure it must've been that 'Australian' flu going around, especially as many other people spoke of the same experience. I thought it'd be best if I went off IM's until I got better, then I kinda got in the habit of going off the radar, again. Sorry for making people worry!

Currently, I'm in the region of Andalucía visiting parents and (hopefully) attending a Smash tournament relatively close by. It's been really wet, super windy and quite stormy over the last couple days, which hasn't been the best, but it's been nice to be with Mam after so long. I will try to make progress on commishies while I'm here, cuz with snow disruption in UK it's pretty much driving work as soon as I return, so, blegh.

Speaking of UK, it's kinda silly I didn't announce this sooner, but I will be returning to Confuzzled this year, albeit for not as long with my roomie  baltocore again. The rooms got sweeped a lot sooner than we anticipated so we weren't able to get the extra days like we did last year, but at least we got complimentary mineral water and access to a boring suite upstairs. I'm hoping to find more groups of peeps and artists this time, and if anyone else had as much a hard-on and I did for the Melee clip they showed in last year's teaser, I may bring a setup for impromptu friendlies, round robin brackets and money matches or somethin like that. Finally got round to making this thing, along with a dedicated Val account. This should make it easier for peeps from other sites to request stuff, as well as make it so I don't have to update info on multiple sites.

The peeps in red have been on my list for a very long time, years at this point. I thought it wouldn't be fair to spring an ultimatum with them in such short notice, so I've given them until Jan 31st (just over a month) to get back to me on ideas and payment etc. If they do, they'll spring to first priority, since they've been waiting longer than anyone else. If they don't, they'll be struck off the list. For the payment one, if they decide to commission again, I'll need to make sure they got the money to pay in a stricter time limit (I'm still pretty pleased with that one I did for them, so hopefully I can upload it soon).

Hi, just waiting to get a call for family before opening prezzies so may as well write something up.

So much happened this year, it's hard to summarize it all in any concise and digestible way. Some highlights tho:

This'll also be the first Christmas I've spent on my own. My family are all in separate places, with parents having moved to Spain and big bro with his family down south. It's nice though~ Seeing people almost everyday on the job, along with all the social obligations, came to be so exhausting. I'm utterly thankful to have these few days off just to relax and unwind, I really need 'em. x_x

Didn't expect it to be this soon, but turns out the problem was very simple. My dad said he'd try getting the laptop fixed earlier this morning, but before resorting to getting it checked at a pc place, he asked his friends about it. I'd previously noticed there were two small things that came loose in the compartment where the SATA drive was being used, and it looked like they were supposed to support the drive and prevent it from disconnecting. Turns out that from all the moving around I'd done, it ended up doing just that. Even though the dual boot options load in Windows 10 from the SSD, it must be that the inital boot starts with the SATA. Without that properly connected, the laptop wasn't able to progress beyond the startup screen, but now that it's been secured, everything is back to normal! Dad texted to say he fixed it not long into the afternoon, and I couldn't believe it! Shoutouts to my dad, who is, as the title says, a legend! All a good reminder to invest in an external drive, purely for backup. Just thankful I can resume commissions as normal. Thanks to everyone who coped with my bullshit when I wrote that emo post before. Work was hard, and it seemed to be one thing after the other.

Speaking of which, the UK had a bunch of snow. It meant two days off work, but three days of backlog to catch up on as a result, so this week's been hella full on so far. Snow was pwetty tho. Was pretty chill without the laptop for a change. Got to focus on playing through some games, watch stuff on the telly, much easier to go sleep early. Definitely an eye-opener for not taking stuff like that for granted, and making the most of various things, without being stuck on a computer screen all the time.

Just when you thought it couldn't be more frustrating to get a commission from me, this shit happens. Boot priorities were swapped around, looked at the hard drive and fan components, nothing fishy. If it's a problem with the ssd, that'd be strange, considering it was only used for more or less half a year? If it's anything with the motherboard or processor, guess I'll have to buy a new laptop. Should have had an exclusive backup drive for occassions like these, but hey ho.

I hadn't been on the ball with commissions anyway, then suddenly work got busy, so time and energy management went right out the window! Just as I was getting back into the swing of things, media test failure happened, so now it's a perfect blend of circumstances in and out of my control. Honestly, if any of you on the list wanna jump ship, by all means feel free! I don't blame you at all! This is exactly why I don't take payments up front, cuz I'm unreliable as shit! Unless you wanna pay for shitty pen scribbles until commish machine fixed, commissions are gonna be on hold until further notice. Sorry to do this to everyone again. I'm well aware I've made people wait months on end for a simple sketch or took ages just to finish the last bit of a comic, and I hate myself for it. Well shit, it's been some time since that way outdated election post and I disappeared again. Time for a new journal!

Things have been slow with art due to various other things going on. Parents moving in temporarily, melee tournaments, part-time work, draining focus from arts n such. Just had to cover someone for the last couple weeks, so that was pretty dang draining, but that's (hopefully) it for the rest of the month. Looking forward, I got a weeb club to help run and full-on work come Black Friday / Christmas season, so yayyy.... In short, I haven't cut and run. I've just been particularly busy lately, and I apologize for the subsequent slowness with art pumpings.

In the meanwhile, I impulse-bought a bunch of commissions from really awesome artists over the last couple months, as you may've seen from the reblobs on other sites. If you'd like to see 'em trickled into my gallery, feel free to lemme know. I'm conscious there are peeps on FA who don't do Twitter-Tumblr and vice-versa, so yaahhhhhh! At the moment, I post on twitter most frequently, tumblr occasionally, here rarely. I should try harder really.

For future commissions, I might be tempted to change the main prices to GBP/£, cuz Paypal seems to take quite a chunk with conversion fees. Also, might be better to get a universal commish list to spread across all the sites I'm on, including twits and tumbs. I'll work through my current list, then see about making these changes in time.

It's been over a month between the last commission and getting to the next. My apologies. Life's been pretty busy and tiring lately.

I'm currently thinking on how I'm gonna handle the current queue and hopefully find a better way to handle commissions that doesn't take forever most of the time, so I made this handy dandy poll for you to help decide:

I don't know how many times I have to apologise for delays until I'm able to bang out stuff regularly, but here we are. Again.

Short answer: I've piled on too many things at once for the past couple months, and I've been friggin drained.

At the moment, I got a buncha things on my plate, several hours driving a week, helping out with weekly tournaments, helping to run an anime society, doing commissions for the 'vanilla' crowd with a separate alias, helping parents with stuff. Just recently I signed into doing part-time deliveries around my local area, so that too. On top of it having been a particularly shitty month in a particularly shitty year, I've started to become especially slumpy in my free time as a result. Or is that just me making excuses, now that the thought of being drained has been etched into my mind? I dunno. I just feel bad that I've been much less active and responsive, especially on IM's. It's why I wanted to make this journal, to acknowledge that I know I'm not being as productive and active as you want me to be, and I'm deeply sorry.

Before I hold it off any further... Might add more to it tomorrow, but for now:

First off, Confuzzled '16 was friggin great! Made me wish I was able to stay more than a day. Budddied up with baltocore the cute gabu guy, got to see the actual real Uncle Kage drink bottles of wine and talk about eye surgery, bought a hot dang commission from Killveous at dealers' den, saw a few cool motors, sketched a bunch of lewd shit throughout the day, then drove on back home! I really, really, really wanna get a room for the whole four days next time! All depends on how well things turn out I guess. Second, there was that whole ordeal about finally moving house! Yes! Finally at a place with super download and, uh, decent enough upload. No-one seemed to get any lag or buffer issues with the two quickie doodle streams I did some weeks ago (except accidentally leaving my mic input off during the group call that one time sorry about that), so that's all well and good! Thanks to everyone who got a commish for those streams and helped a foofy kitty out!

On the subject, COMMISSION LISTS! A reset on the current list has been long overdue, but better late than never! I've been pretty busy and pre-occupied with other things lately, so commission work on this front has grinded to a halt lately. I had the amazing idea of advertising manga portraits to fundraise for my uni/college's anime society without setting a cap on the number of requests I could take. Got around 20 portraits to work on, and I'm about a third done, so been kinda snowed under by that, along with going to weekly tourneys and all the stuff to do for said society, plus going to J-Con for the weekend just gone. Free time's opened up again, so I can grind all this stuff out a lil better now. Just to say, got a few other things on my plate, so commission turnaround may not be very fast or consistent from here. As soon as I'm done working through this journal I'll go and re-jig the list, sort everything, etc.

To top it off, thanks ever so much to you rascals for sticking by this page that's been up for over FIVE YEARS now! The day I admitted to myself that I was furry trash was the day I signed up to FA, and found a place to express all the fantasies I never had the chance to before, and in doing so inadvertently killed my deviantart page to oblivion. As I kept going, goofing off on my animation degree, staying up till sometimes 6 in the morning cuz of RP's, grunting through the times of feeling like dogshit among incredibly talented artists, slowly but surely finding my groove, progressing from pokemon suit tf's to full-on pervy buttstuff... I came to discover that this was the stuff I was most passionate about, the stuff that'd attract the most mileage and success. All that gross pervy nsfw stuff! Again, I appreciate y'all for the love and support over this time, and look forward to an ever better Val another five years from now! :O

It was Friday, then I looked at the schedule that came out after registration closed. Just registration from 10 in the morning til 5 in the evening. Worried I would end up with nothing to do for the majority of the day, I went and made a very apologetic email to the registration team. Hey presto! They changed it, the bloody saints they are! Seems that a lot of people get caught out by the schedule, so it's not even an isolated incident, which makes it super nice that they did it anyway. Great job, Confuzzle!

Might even branch out to Inkbunny, mostly cuz Verquilion moved there. Don't worry, I'll still be up to my usual shit here. Weasyl should hopefully be like a best-of, with way less rough sketches than on here (honestly should do a lot more with colour than I do cuz eghghhh).

It's like getting fit. Stop for too long, and you have a hell of a time getting back up to where you were. Not to say that break-time isn't valuable. There's a balance to be had, y'see! So I gotta follow that advice now. Get on with those commissions n stuff >_>
