She was a witch, and actually abandoned Aurora after his birth. After finding his mother dead when he searched for her a few years after her birth, he extracted his mother's blood, and injected it into the dagger. The dagger is the color of the Northern Lights (ex. Purple, Neon blue and green, ect. ) Now, the weapon has explainable magical powers, that even Aurora doesn't know it's full potential yet))
