*Critique Encouraged*

I'm not sure why, but I really thought that I could have backgrounds done. This pic started out with a light color and ended with a light color, which made it suffer, of course.

I need some advice on backgrounds, because usually, I have the idea of the what the characters will be doing, but no functional setting to put them in.

Shading is still a bitch, but at least it's not damaging.

Another thing that I think makes my art suffer is just drawing things on the spot, like this here. It just came into my head "oh, this is what I want to draw". I need to force myself to draw other things, stuff that's more dynamic and not just fluffed.

Anywho, I just need critiques on a lot. I won't stop until I have finally got it down.
