That's a wonderful story, Gene, above all as it really happened to you... That was a very nice move from you, not much people would have done that, and that proved successfull hopefully.

Perspective can be hard to learn. But once you do, it certainly pays off.

Reminds me of a guy who rang once to complain about our 'incompetence' and 'uselessness' at failing to get his phone connected to the mobile network....before realising his SIM card was in backwards.

As someone who works with technology in a support role, I can totally relate to this situation.

When things go this way...it's just...it just feels great.

When I was still in that account territory, one of my fellow techs wondered why I didn't call this tale "The Taming of the Shrew". I said "Because I didn't tame her - she got her own act together."

Nice to hear that it generated a positive outcome and she learned from her mistake. I remember a customer at a job I worked who was repeatedly sending in a monitor for smoking within hours of him getting it back (a for the time expensive multi-sync monitor) and being VERY bitchy about it. Always burned out the same circuits even though we'd have it run 24/7 for an entire week no problems, until on like the fifth return he included the signal cable (was a monitor that the cable wasn't built in). Seems the cable had all the grounds internally shorted to one another, in fact every pin that didn't carry a signal was hooked to ground. Unfortunately those rarely used pins being shorted caused the monitor to burn out for some reason. Now if he'd included the cable from the beginning when asked to include everything the problem never would have occurred but decided not to until we demanded everything be sent in the last time. It was something that made my boss at the time quite happy to have available to deal with the guy as he was at least as difficult as your encounter was (although I doubt the guy learned from it).

Indeed sometimes the best feelings come from the smallest cases well said Mr Catlow. Must say I would have rather paid to see her face at the moment she realized her own error, would be rather memorable but I think the last few pages speak for that moment rather well
