I really enjoy the ripping of the jeans at the seams, but would his jeans at the front not give way? A belt snapping would have added a great effect. I believe what remains of his jeans are ripping in the bottom panel, but I find it a bit hard to distinguish it from lighting.

Fair enough. A button popping is also often used for pressure release and to show how fat a person has become, but since you have seams bursting, that fits it well. : )
