It was EPIC to say the least and unlike the first two movies of this series that did a lot of storytelling to build up to certain points, this movie had flat out action right from the beginning where the second one ended, with Smaug laying waste to Laketown. I was kinda disappoted that he was taken out so quickly but then again, this movie wasn't about him (unlike the second one).
And then after that, it was just downhill from there in terms of the action sequences, with the survivors of Laketown turning to the Lonely Mountain for refuge, followed by the arrival of the Lord Elf riding on his moose (that was awesome) with his army, to the confrontation between men, elves and dwarves, to them rallying together as they stood against the Orc armies, to the penultimate scene of the movie where Thorin Oakenshield faces off against the head Orc honcho, Azgog the Defiler or something of the sort.
I was really caught off guard when Thorin dispatched him, by trapping him under the ice and I thought, "Wait, that's it? He beats him by drowning him?" But I kinda knew in the back of my head that he wouldn't be defeated so easily and was glad to see that I was wrong and that Thorin would have to give him a grand death. What I wasn't expecting was for Thorin to die. I kinda hoped that he'd live and that they'd show him being crowned King with a grand coronation and the likes. Then again, it wouldn't leave any room for "The Lord of the Rings" but I did like how they wrapped it up so nicely in the end with Bilbo returning to the Shire and growing old and having Gandalf coming to visit him and it pans out from his study where he has a map of Middle Earth with the Lonely Mountian and Smaug and all the surrounding areas.
All in all, I enjoyed this series and am waiting to see if Hollywood will release a six disc DVD set of the ENTIRE series, starting with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Desolation of Smaug, The Battle of the Five Armies to the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King, and I'd want it to be the extended versions for each movie. X3
Anyways, have you seen The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies? What did you think of it? Comment below and let me know! :3

I think they made it too long, the battle was only as I gle chapter in the book and was resolved quite quickly, the execution was, fairly ok, but again, too long for just a small novel, where as lord of the rings was released in 6 books and just 3 films.
Regarding a DVD box, it will probably be 12 DVD's as lord of the rings extended edition is already 6 DVD's big
