Vizlet has a reputation around the enclave, oh yes.
And apologies for the delay; I'm visiting some friends on the East coast this week. They're the understanding type though, and have allowed me to draw in between rounds of Settlers of Catan and Smallworld and Last Night On Earth and Shadows Over Camelot and the various other hoard of games we've played through.

There is in fact no public education system in effect in Val Salia, nor most nations in the world. Much like pre-renaissance Europe, education is typically a service only semi-privileged and/or wealthy can afford, aside from less comprehensive trade educations and apprenticeships, like the merchant's schooling Kass received. Only about 20% of Val Salia's population is educated, and about 60% can read and write.
For yinglets, the education rate is about 1%. Or 2% if you count Kass.

aaah, so its not a matter of the females being smarter...its just the Matriarch is the smartest, and apparently secretive, of the bunch. and Kass being an exhuman is now among the smartest of yinglets.
I wouldn't count if I was yinglet or not XD about average intelligence give or take

It might not come as a surprise when I say this, but I love those two guards. They're akin to those classic, incompetent comedic duos you see in movies. For me personally, they remind me of the two British soldiers from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in the way that they seem like friends but are at odds with each other.
I imagine there may have been extra effort drawing this one, considering the different positions of the yinglet guards, which I appreciate. The way they talk to each other and their facial expressions are terrific! I know others have commented similar, buts it's the damned truth. Truth be damned!

BTW, I just tried to make a GURPS racial template for yinglets. See if I am on track:
