Gola could hear the hum of machinery as he was led down the corridor. His head had been covered by a bag so he had no idea where he was. A few hours ago he had been at a nice restaurant visiting with his friends Kane and Tolf, and the next thing he knew he was being grabbed off the street by a van and a bag put over his head. He had struggled with his assailants, trying to break free but there had been too many of them and before he knew it, his wrists were bound.
Gola had tried to talk with his captors a few times before now, each time had met with a shock from a stun stick. So now he kept quiet. He felt himself going down in some sort of lift. Down, down and down the lift went before it lurched to a sudden stop. The bag was removed from Gola’s head as he was shoved down hard onto the ground. He felt the numbing sensation of a suppressor field engaging, pinning him to the ground.
“Sir we are ready for the experiment,” a young man said to large cyborg bear.
“Good, good. Today we make history Allen. If this works we can unveil our new weapons platform to the military at a fraction of the cost of our competitors,” the cyborg bear responded.
“Yes, but Sir isn’t this highly illegal? I mean its been 5 years since the ban on creation of cyborgs came into effect. And besides, won’t anyone miss this guy,” Allen asks.
“People go missing all the time Allen, it’s a danger of living in the city. Besides, no one will know he is a cyborg…” the bear smiles, the servos in his face making a humming sound. “All the military wants is a mobile weapons platform they can outfit with some shiny new gun. They won’t question why it self-repairs and requires no maintenance when they see the results. I think its time Allen, ready the nanite injection.” Taking a heavy syringe, the bear approaches Gola.
“No… please… don’t do this! Let me go… Please!” Gola cries out has the bear plunges the tip deep into Gola’s chest.
Gola can feel the nanites flooding his body, screaming in pain as they begin to do their job. First, his fur and skin are broken down into their base materials and reconfigured into bio-metal armor plating. Next they work to break down Gola’s muscle tissue, replacing the weak organic muscles with far superior servos and gears. Gola struggles all he can but there is no stopping the army of microscopic machines. Slowly they rework his entire body, transforming his flesh and bone into wires and circuits, replacing neurons with a neural-net. The biggest change happens to his overall shape. Forced now onto all fours, Gola finds himself standing on four legs.
