And here's part 4 of the story.
As Estelle placed herself on the referee position she told both to calm down and Declared that the combat between Eric and Emily was now beginning. Emily started straight ahead with a Leech Life attack, attack that Eric Manderspark had a hard time avoid before countering with a Ember move. Emily ordered Manadrake to jump sideways before rushing forward with a scratch attack. Eric’s Manderspark was too slow to react to his command of avoiding the hit that seemed to do lots of damage to Manderspark. As the poor salamander was using the instant after that to get back on his legs, Manadrake was already rushing back after Emily told it to use Scratch again. Hit that again did a huge amount of damage to Manderspark, that fainted due to the hit. Estelle stopped the match giving the first victory to Emily giving her a 1-0 lead.
Eric and Emily called back their pokemon and gave them back to Estelle so she could heal them back to perfect health. After a moment Estelle brought back the 2 and asked again Eric which one he would like. This time Eric decided to try Manadrake, Estelle gave him the pokeball of Manadrake and asked Emily which one she would like to use to confront Eric this time. Emily said that whe would use Manderspark. So Estelle gave Emily Manderspark pokeball. Emily then said: “Now I’ll show you how to fight with Manderspark… Come on out!!” she finished as she threw the pokeball in front to make Manderspark come out. Eric answered with a: “We’ll see… Manadrake, I choose you!” Throwing his pokeball to make Manadrake come out. Estelle once again named herself the judge for the combat and told that if both trainer was ready the duel was now beginning. Eric didn’t wasted a moment and screamed to Manadrake to charge up Manderspark and use scratch. Emily told Manderspark to plant his feet in the ground and endure the hit, which he did but as soon as it got hit, Emily asked Manderspark to use Ember, attack that hitted directly Manadrake and did huge damage. Manadrake was now burned from the last attack and taking damage every turns. Eric told Manadrake to use Leech life to try to keep it from fainting. The attack hit Manderspark draining some life from it to heal Manadrake. Emily didn’t wasted more time and ordered Manderspark to use Scratch. Which Manadrake was able to avoid right before the hit landed, Manderspark now opened for an attack Eric called for another leech life that once again hit, making Manderspark faint, but the amount of life drained wasn’t enough and as soon as Manderspark fainted, Manadrake fainted also due to that Burn he had. Estelle declared a tie before asking for both pokeballs to be returned to her. Giving Shuixiao pokeball to Eric as it was the last one Eric didn’t tried and he had to try all three and since Shuixiao was still fully healed as it wasn’t used once in the first two duels, Estelle left it with Eric.
Estelle, after healing both pokemon, brought them back to Emily and asked her which one she would choose to face Eric and Shuixiao this round. Emily waited a moment before choosing like she was thinking of her strategy in advance. And after a moment she told that she would use Manderspark again. Estelle then gave Manderspark pokeball to Emily and took place back as the judge of the duel. As both trainer made their pokemon come out, Estelle told that it was the last duel between the two to help Eric decide which pokemon he would choose. Before the duel started Eric asked if he could let Kirlia out without her participating. He added as both Emily and Estelle looked at each other that Emily could do the same too if she wanted. Estelle accepted and brought out her three pokemon, a Trapinch, a Riolu and a Manadrake. She asked them to cheer for her during that duel. Eric did the same with Kirlia making her come out of the Wish Ball, he whispered to her as he was close to her… “don’t help me, but don’t talk Kirlia, wouldn’t want you to be discovered.” Kirlia answered by an affirmative nodding with a “Kirlia”. Estelle then told both trainers that if everything was okay the duel could start.
This time Emily started, ordering Manderspark to rush in and use Scratch. Eric responded by ordering Shuixiao to slide on the side before using Bubble. Attack that missed and hit the ground right next to Manderspark, making the water from the Bubble attack mix with the soil of the fighting area zone. Eric then had an idea but he had to test the speed of Shuixiao first, and he asked Shuixiao to start running or instead floating as fast as it could around Manderspark. Shuixiao seemed to understand what Eric was trying and started to float as fast as it could around Manderspark, avoiding each Ember Emily ordered Manderspark to use against Shuixiao. Eric sticking with Bubble attack but all of them where missing the target and hitting the ground instead. But soon after the strategy was now evident… Eric wasn’t just missing Manderspark, he changed the soil around Manderspark into slippery mud. Manderspark was stuck on a small patch of land that was still dry and couldn’t use anymore Ember as the attack was now emptied and if Manderspark was trying to get out of there, it would slide off and fall on the mud. So technically, Manderspark was now just a target for Shuixiao in ranged combat. “Good job Shuixiao!! They fell in our trap. Now finish it with one last perfectly placed Bubble.” Eric nearly yelled, Shuixiao obeyed and hit the target directly doing humongous damage to Manderspark and making it faint in only one shot. Shuixiao didn’t even have one scratch on it during that duel and Manderspark was already on the ground fainted. Emily could only applause the strategy Eric used during that fight using Bubble to transform the soil around Manderspark into mud so it couldn’t move anymore. Estelle declared Eric the winner of the third round making the duel ending in a 1-1 draw. Both trainer called back their pokemon in their respective pokeballs and asked for them to be given back so she could restore their health. Both Emily and Eric gave the pokeball to Estelle who once again did the same thing as between the other two duels.
During that time Eric turned around and saw that Kirlia had such a spark in her eyes like Kirlia was so happy that her trainer won the duel. He then took a step toward her, but heard Emily talk to her pokemons. “Sorry, you had to see me lose against him guys, I didn’t even saw what he was doing until I got cornered on a small patch of dry land in the middle of a river of mud.” Her pokemons all seemed to understand and seem to pardoned her. Before long, Emily continued by saying “I swear, this is the last time I lose to him…” looking at Eric as she finish what she was saying before continuing: “… but to make sure I can get another chance at him...” She got back up and walked toward Eric, a decisive look in her eyes. Kirlia saw that and walked toward her master too. Before Eric could say to Kirlia anything Emily spoke first: “It’s decided… I was about to start my journey to go Challenge the Starrock Contest and Gym, so how about we journey together?” She asked Eric to journey together. At that moment Estelle heard that and said that it was a marvelous idea and that they could help each other if they were to get in a tight spot. Estelle then added that Eric was the perfect partner for her sweet Emily. Emily turning red… “Gramdma!! I can take care of myself you know… I asked him if he wanted to journey together to see if I could get a chance to bea…” stopping in her phrase to think a little before continuing “…huh… a chance to…” Emily stopped as she saw Eric’s facial expression he had for a moment now. Asking him if he was okay or something. Eric only reaction was: “G..G..Grandma!? Your Estelle granddaughter?” Emily said that she was and that it had nothing to do with Estelle judging in those duels they had, amking her three pokemons get back in their pokeballs. Finishing by asking Eric again if he was okay with joining her on her journey on the roads and all. Eric looked at Estelle and Emily before saying a yes. During that time Kirlia was still forcing herself not to start talking in Human tongue and blew her cover, but she thought that as soon as she had a moment to talk in private with Eric she would tell that this was a bad idea.
“So Eric…” Estelle started before continuing “… you made a decision in who you would take as a starter pokemon?” Eric then told that the choice was obvious and that Shuixiao was the one he wanted to join him in his journey in Renato. Estelle then gave Shuixiao’s pokeball to Eric and told Eric and Emily that their next destination would be North after the Route 102 and through the Deep Voice Forest and right after Route 103 the City of Starrock City where their journey would begin for both of them. After Eric and Emily thanked professor Estelle, Estelle told that she forgot one thing and asked them both to follow her back to the front of the Lab. Which both youngster did, arrived there she go and took two small red case-looking apparatus and offered one to each one saying at the same time: “Here’s your pokedex, those thing are the most useful tool you’ll need on your journey. Fill them with the most pokemon seen on your journey.” Eric and Emily took them and placed them preciously in their inventory. Then they took off toward the North on Route 102.
As Estelle placed herself on the referee position she told both to calm down and Declared that the combat between Eric and Emily was now beginning.
