now with commissions all out of the way, I can finally start posting this story and image series I've been working on!
"Saurian" is the title, and also the name of the world in which it takes place.
The main characters Nomminus and Khaz are an unlikely duo, she's an adventurer, always on the move and prefers a solitary life. He is a bright-eyed and excitable kid who ends up tagging along with her on her adventures due to unfortunate circumstances.
They will learn to work together as they deal with whatever dangers or challenges they might face while wandering the world.
She had been venturing for weeks, and finally found a large town to rest in. The stone walls surrounding the city were old and crumbly in some spots, but otherwise well held. She approached the gates, smiling to the guards, the look of sleepless nights in the wilderness, and need of reprieve from her tiring adventures apparent on her face.
"State your business here, traveler." States one of the guardsmen.
"Rest, and a decent meal. I've been out in the wilds for the better part of a month." Nomminus would answer.
"An adventurer hmm? I suggest heading to the Pterosaur Tavern, quiet place, good food, warm beds. Decently priced too. I'll be heading there myself once I'm relieved of duty, maybe I'll see you there." The guard would go to open the gates after giving his suggestion, and letting the blue theropod through.
Nomminus bowed her head. "Thank you." is all she would say with a warm smile, as she makes her way through the gates. Walking through the streets, a quick tour of the town perhaps before questing to locate the tavern. The sun sets in the wide sky, painting it with warm evening colours. She comes across a smithy on her walk. Approaching the worker out front tidying up for the day. She'd make note to come back in the morning and perhaps buy a new weapon, and maybe sharpen her sword. Sturdy and trustworthy, but beginning to dull after the many journeys through the wilderness. Night would begin to fall when she'd finally found the tavern. Upon entering she's greeted by delicious smells and a wonderful warmth she'd not felt for some time. She approaches one of the maidens, and asks for hot meal, then takes a seat at an unoccupied long wooden table.
Once food is prepared and delivered to her, she's about to dig in. When a little scaly head of dusty rose tint would pop up on the side of the table. Nomminus would look over, to see a young tyrannosaur boy, looking up at her with the widest of grins.
"Are you an adventurer?" Asked the boy, before Nommy even had the chance to ask him why he was there. Excitement overflowing in his voice. "Can you tell me some of your stories!? Please?!" he would plead.
"Not now boy, let me eat." Nomminus would answer, with the slightest bit of a growl to her voice. She'd like to just dine in peace.
The boy would pout as his ecstatic grin would quickly change. "Awhh..."
Nomminus chuckles and smiles once more. "Once I've finished with my meal, I'd be glad to share my stories."
The tiny red theropod would beam with joy yet again. "Yes!" He said triumphantly, and sat up on the bench at the table. Eagerly waiting for her to be done eating, not taking his eyes off her.
Nomminus laughed lightly once more and shook her head with a slight sigh as she began to eat her food. When after a while she was done.
The boy got up off his seat and took the plate. "I'll get rid of this for you!" He said and brought the plate over to where the dirty ones were kept until they were to be cleaned. He quickly came back, jumping onto the bench and sitting once more.
"Now, can you tell me about your adventures? Please? Have you fought wolves? Giant spiders? What about huge 10 headed snakes? HAVE YOU FOUGHT A DRAGON?!" The last question he would hoist himself up with his arms, trying to reach eye level with the armored lizard in front of him. Tail swishing behind him quickly with anticipation.
the blue carnotaurus laughed once more, "settle down boy, you're likely to break the table if you keep this up." She shifted herself in her seat, into a more relaxed position. "No dragon fights I'm afraid, not yet at least. Though there was this one time however in a cavern to the north-" she began, and then told her stories long into the night, the child hooked on every word, throughout the time other patrons about the tavern would listen in.
When the wee hours of the morning had arrived, the child's mother urged him to come home, and come to bed. He got up from his place at the table reluctantly. As he left he told his mother. "I hope I get to go on epic quests one day!"
The mother paused. "Well...maybe when you're older."
TL;DR: Nommy goes to a town after adventuring for weeks, to get some rest and some food, a little tyrannosaurus boy interrupts her dinner asking to hear about her travels. To which she eventually does, and has perhaps inspired the child a little too much.
