The social bar for white people is a lot lower than it is for people of color. Co-opting culture that is inherently Afrocentric may not be automatically racist, but it's still cultural appropriation.
For white people, racism is a nuisance. For everyone else, it's a literal living hell. And personally, I'm not offended by my people getting knocked down a couple pegs. We have plenty to spare.
