I wanted to compose a piece that spoke of what Matthias's first impression of Redwall might have been like. It is a warm and welcoming place, but after all it is an abbey, presumably therefore a longstanding religious order, and to a young orphan seeking shelter, the reverence and piety could have been a little intimidating. I wanted something liturgical, that might would be at home in a formal mass (like a Kyrie or Requiem). There are two phrases used in this (apologies in advance for the most-likely-butchered Latin). The first is "Nunquam sum mortuus est", which (roughly) translated is "I am never dead", a reference to an opening line in a central verse to Redwall: "Who says that I am dead / knows nought at all". The second is "Ille habebit gladium meum", which means "He will wield my sword", a reference to the closing line of said verse: "I - am that is / my sword will wield for me." Admittedly this one was a bit more challenging because of the voices. Hopefully the result was worth it.

I have to say you hit this on the head.
I've been a choir singer in the cathedrals in the UK for years, so had my fair share of that 'first impression' of entering the places for the first time from age 11 and upwards.
You've done an excellent job of capturing the atmosphere, and also used some beautiful voices. I'm feeling all nostalgic for it now
