<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>The rabbits of Honath as a race tend towards a slight build, less muscular and lighter then many of the other "normal" sized races. As a species they tend to breed quickly and in large numbers, often having litters of two or three kits. Socialogically, they are very freindly, easily forming large groups and families, and working well together without a lot of the individualism that prevents a lot of the other species from being as coordinated. Because of this social advantage, rabbits tend to take over the governments and political positions where they live, and with their breeding practices, quickly become a majority.
Not being a very aggressive race, they make ideal civil leaders, and a very tollerant society - a fact that has lead to the success of so many cities run by the rabbits. Tollerance allows many other races to integrate into a society that would otherwise likely reject them, encuraging a blending of cultures and ways of life that makes the societies very resiliant during times of war and cataclysm. Rabbit societies have survived when many others would not, and so they are one of the fastest growing cultures on Evera.
Most rabbit cities have multiple levels, both up and down. They are a naturally burrowing species, if not as productive at it as those species well known for it, such as moles, badgers and wolverines. Rabbit run metropolii are often as big underground as they are above ground where the land allows, and rural rabbits often live in comfortable earthen dens, dug under a large tree or boulder. Think hobbit holes.
Game mechanics:
Rabbits get -1 in strength and +1 in intelligence, a +6 on listen checks and one extra feat at level 1. They are medium sized, have a base speed of 30 feet, and because of their social nature, their favored class is cleric or paladin.

Eh, I'm not too happy with a lot of this sketch, but I did want to go into Rabbits as a race, so...
And yeah, I've been putting a lot of work into this, both with the mechanics and the story. But, at the rate of one combat round per post, I have lots of time to work out the details of my story world. That too was part of the concept of this experiment.
It seems to be going well so far! Everyone keeps telling me how well I'm doing, and I've hardly started the game!

Ahh, very nice; racial and sociological details. Now we're getting into the really interesting stuff! :D
I'm always curious to see the kinds of general racial attitudes and stats that get assigned to assorted peoples. I particularly like how you've taken those attitudes and used them to explain the current state of society. Can't wait to see more racial profiles, they really help to flesh out your world.
In regards to the pic, the lop-eared guardsman amuses me. I guess in that particular profession, you'd want the ears to be hanging low rather than being an extra target on top of your head anyway. (Not to mention they're easier to make headgear for that way.) XD
On a semi-related note, I'm curious about the nature of hybrids in your setting. Do they exist at all? A rare occurrence? If they exist at all, do they only occur between certain races, or is it pretty much anything goes?

Thanks! I try to fully flesh my world as much as possible - makes it more real for viewers and players.
The rabbit guard is actually not supposed to be lop-eared. He has his ears folded back underneath his sallet helmet. It just was not very evident the way I drew it. This is what a side view of his helmet should look like, more or less:

As for hybreds...i had actually not considered that. I think I would either make it limited hybredization(only certain species) or make it so that while cross-species breeding is possible, the offspring is always either one or the other, with regressives showing up on a rare occasion.
"But...we're both rabbits, how could our baby be a fox?"
"Well, see my great great great grandmother..."

I would imagine a helm like that would get pretty darned uncomfortable after a while. Still, better than havin' an ear lopped off. :)
I was mostly curious to see how if you allowed it, it'd work for stats and such, but I figured with the sheer number of permutations it probably wouldn't be worth the hassle.
I could definitely see the full-breed-with-regressive situation making for some "interesting" moments amongst new parents. XD
