The Lord of Ravens through his entire life focused on calming the inner war that constantly wages in his soul. Being a master of shadowmancy means Necire must always find a balance between the light and the dark. The shadow brought many blessings to Necire, however it also had several hindrances that the Lord of Ravens was constantly mindful of. IF Necire should let his rage overcome him, either through massive physical trauma or mental, the Curse of the Twilight shall consume him and the "beast" will overtake his mind. Think of it as a sorta immune response to keep the Shadow Lord safe from a situation that seems overwhelming.
