Hey there everybody! Got something different for you today.
Some of you that have known me for a while know I've long agonized about trying to come up with a fursona for myself. I've struggled with it cause I didn't wanna make just a carbon copy of myself with fur and had trouble deciding on the species since my personal favorite species (red fox) felt... kinda cliche I'll be honest. Especially since I didn't think I could make it unique.
Well with help from my good friend
Tacky who drew this for me, link to his posting below so if you like it please go favorite there too =3

So let me introduce all of you to Tom Leonard Oakley (Yes... TLO, TheLostOne =P Never claimed to be original).
Tom Leonard Oakley (mostly commonly called Tommy to differentiate him from his father Tom Allen Oakley) is a 5 year old red fox and the only son of a hard working middle class family. Despite being small for his age (being easily mistaken for a daycare kid or large toddler at age 5) he's a healthy little fox with… a few developmental issues brought about by his upbringing. Specifically his mommy & daddy and how they aren't around too much.
The moment he was old enough his parents started leaving him n in daycare programs, with babysitters, and with relatives (who weren't often given a choice in the matter) so they could focus on earning a living since neither of their jobs would have allowed such a young child around. This, wasn't done out of neglect or unwant or anything like that. Tommy's parents genuinely love him, dote on him, spoil him to what limited degree they can, and spend any time they have with him… they just can't make anymore time for him due to their financial situation. Something Tommy is too young to even be told about let alone hope to understand.
Because of this the sweet tempered and timid fox is very poorly adjusted especially when it comes to his peers. This has become increasingly obvious in kindergarten where his teacher notes he either plays by himself or follows her around most of the time. While not against playing with other children Tommy is too shy and timid to initiate any form of interaction with them (barely even able to say hello) unless they make the first move. Even when playing with other kids his age he prefers to be a quiet follower and just go along with whatever the others are doing rather than voice any ideas of opinions of his own. Which is sad cause the fox has a good imagination and enjoys making stories and stuff up… but immediately clams up when asked to share them.
This is in sharp contrast with how he acts around adults (though only the ones he knows) where he tends to be needy and constantly trying to get their attention and focus. Constantly shifting between babyish dependency on them to do everything for him complete with crying for attention and acting more his age by constantly trying to show them how big and smart he (thinks he) is to get praise and attention. If ignored by an adult he tends to get sad and retreat to an out of the way place like a corner or somewhere he thinks he can't be seen (like under a blanket) to sulk and sniffle.
Tommy teeters between acting his age and acting like a baby/toddler. While he IS very intelligent and well spoken for his age (if you can get him to talk) he has yet to outgrow his security blanket, favorite plushie, enjoyment of baby toys like rattles, and his tendency to have accidents regularly despite being fully potty trained. For any number of reasons (distracted by make-believe, too busy playing, or too timid to ask to go to the potty) he's struggled to make it to the potty ever since his parents stopped giving him constant attention and support to potty train… which roughly ties in with when they started leaving him with others so they could get back to work. A surprising coincidence all things considered.
Because of these accidents he is most often in pull-ups, the pair of big boy undies he starts the day with rarely lasting past noon. If he has enough trouble keeping them dry he could even end up waddling around in a diaper like a toddler (in fact his tanuki uncle prefers to keep him in them when he babysits Tommy to prevent having to change soggy shorts). Since he still wears diapers to bed Tommy is less embarrassed about his diapers and more ashamed of the scolding he gets form most adults when he's put back into them. Long as nobody (his parents excluded) draws too much attention to his diapers (good OR bad) he's perfectly fine with wearing them. The same applies to the other things he should have outgrown, he doesn't feel self-conscious or upset about them till he's told he should by grown-ups or others… and that doesn't make him want them less. It just makes him upset.

Here we see Tommy in a few of his outfits. Starting from the left we have-
First off is Tommy in his big boy undies… for however long THAT lasts.
Second we have his kindergarten outfit since his parents want their little boy to look his best at school… even if they have to dress him in it since he has yet to learn how to dress himself n the fancy clothes. That or he just wants all the attention he can get from mommy & daddy and isn't picky about acting like a toddler who needs help with everything to get it.
Third is his casual outfit which is very simple since mommy & daddy don't pay near as much attention to what he's wearing if they're just dropping him off at a babysitter, at daycare, or with a relative. This is the outfit Tommy reaches for first if he doesn't have the option of getting his parents to dress him and he has to leave the house.
Fourth is Tommy's pajamas… or what counts for them anyway. A slightly oversized shirt (he was supposed to grow into it and he's proving to be a slow grower), comfy slippers, and a thick diaper to keep his bed dry. Despite loving his pajamas (specifically since it means bedtime and having mommy or daddy read a story to him and give him attention) he's surprisingly self conscious about having his leg bare even if he doesn't mind the diaper. Naturally the few times mommy & daddy didn't bother wake him up or dress him and just dropped him off like this (after a diaper change) with whoever was taking care of him for the day (with his clothes in his diaper bag/backpack) are his worst mornings.
And lastly fifth is the outfit his Tanuki uncle Louis dresses him in whenever he babysits the fox kit (which is often) and what Tommy considers to be his "Cool Clothes" since he has a massive soft spot for his uncle. Mostly because the plump raccoon-dog tends to give him plenty of attention and affection and, while complaining when he has to change them, doesn't scold Tommy for accidents… he just insists the kit wear diapers after one too many flooded pull-ups and soaked shorts.
There, this little fellow will be my official babyfur character from now on.
Anyway please let me know what you think of him and thank you again Tack for the wonderful artwork ^,^
Please enjoy, fav & comment, and have a great day! =D
