Maybe it wasn't Torp who got the spray? I imagine every prisoner gets the same food and same portions despite size so maybe Battu got the apeshit drug but Gill here pulled a fast one on us o3o

was defiantly torp, back on page 8 we see battu walking away (in comic formatting tall panels are generally considered to be places where their top is unless marked otherwise so battu is walking away before the spraying happens), the food getting sprayed, then a tray being handed to torp

Also, just a little confused, why is the head shark guy giving Battu 72 hours, but then threatening Battu with only 72 minutes after Torpedo Shark gets out of medbay?

'Seventy two hours' refers to the pit sentence. The wording is 'less trouble' as the implication here is to make Battu think that Torp will murder her in revenge as soon as he's well enough - he wouldn't give her seventy-two minutes to live - unless Battu is prepared to cooperate with the warden now that he'll have his guards protect her. It's all about control.

Warden may want one thing, but remember there is someone who is disguised as a guard interested in Battu as well. He the one that doped Torp's food. Battu either A won't reach the pit or B the fake guard will try and take Battu after she is put in the pit.

Ahhh, I *think* I'm starting to understand the ploy at play here.

For those that think it was Battu who ingested the aggression heightening drug, that is the wrong assumption to make.

Torp did indeed take the drugged food, because the prison warden needed a patsy to play the "victim" of Battu's seemingly unprovoked attack.

I'm guessing that once Torp recovers from the injuries he sustained in the fight, he'll have no memory of the lead up to the confrontation, nor what happened during it. All that he'll know is that he is waking up in the prison infirmary with some pretty severe damage. And just wouldn't you know it, once he awakens and asks about what happened to him, a friendly prison guard will inform him that Battu suddenly flipped out in the cafeteria and attacked him for no reason.

Hell, what's to say that to make sure that this is the impression the prison guards and the warden want Torp to have of Battu, that they don't carry on feeding him that aggression drug (possibly in smaller doses so that he doesn't randomly attack anybody that crosses his path) while he's recouperating, lessening his ability to reason enough that Torp ends up genuinely *believing* what they say and that when he does get out of the infirmary, he'll definitely want to pummel Battu into a red smear back in their shared cell?

Of course the footage doesn't show what happened and of course all the guards who were there and saw it all won't admit it because they don't want the warden to think they were sitting around with their thumbs up their arses. The fake hiding among the guards is trying to isolate Battu. Stay strong Battu in time you'll make them pay for all the injustice done to Battu.

People seem to be conflicted between the amount they're actually reading, and the length of time it takes in this format to read, so the 'bad' stuff stays in the mind for longer than they'd expect a resolution to probably take. It's better to think of it as actual comic-book length episodes - there are still six pages still to go in this one remember.

Although the comic isn't meant to be mean-spirited or intentionally miserable (and certainly not over the long term), it is written to be a harsh universe, up to a point. Gill has her own writing influences, and I have mine; and one of those happens to be Blake's Seven.

You know gillpanda, I've notice that despite Battu being your favorite character, she gets thrown under the rug so often that it puts in a lot of questions concerning that she's supposed to be a badass bounty hunter with a sassy attitude only to be easily tormented or miserable from anything that happens to her. Also these officers sure seem extremely uncaring for what happens to these prisoners despite that it's their job to stop any fights from breaking out between them preventing any kind of rukus from happening like what happened in the mess hall not to long ago. But instead you write the guards to only act if they're being threatened in any way as if they mattered more than running this prison.

To summerize what I'm saying, Battu is way too easy to break emotionally and the guards unrealistically lack a lot of responsibility despite their jobs.
