Kangaroo Comparison
What sort of kangaroo are you? There's a lot of variety between the extermes of a non-morphic animal and a fully anthro humanoid kangaroo. Some can wear clothes, some do not, some may be entirely wrong and physically incorrect, but looks cool enough that you want to draw them that way anyways.
So if you wanted to know what sort of critter you are, check out this handy reference guide.
FYI: Flinters is a Type B. :)

I never noticed that detail, also it's never mentioned in the books. I also never noticed rats have plantigrade feet, too... as do bears, but even though there it's obvious many people won't get it right.
or with prosimiae... digitigrade legs and four-fingered hands with a lemur makes me want to cry.
interesting reference. personally I prefer C, but D has merit's too. especially if you give the human feet the toes of A... and now try to find shoes for THAT foot. XD

I'm a type B roo and artist. I like toon realistic, because it makes them look cute in appearance and character bodies don't blur.
I've seen type C with plantigrade feet before. Just seem most people like digigrade on everything anthro even if it doesn't make sense. Also, I'm too much of a kangaroo fan, so type C gives me headaches. hehe

Most certainly a cross between B and C, but leaning much closer to B because of cub form. Fully grownup form would probably be about a b.5, give or take.
I don't mind the digi-legs, but I much prefer the more toony-style legs, even in a more realistic way. Guess I wanna stick to the real thing a bit :3 B'sides, B = more cute. What more could you ask for?

The hind legs are 'wired' to move in pairs. They can't walk bipdeally or move them independantly to any great extent. Yes, they can move them, but it's not the way the brain works. So they use the tail as a prop as slow walks and move the feet forward together.
Ironically, they kick the legs independantly when swimming, so it's just a body / nervous reflex and not a physical blockage.

Between B and C, I suppose. I'm not the one drawing Lobo, but when he is I'd much rather have him anatomically correct-ish...though I do have some D type pictures that I adore. I think I rather have too fleeting of an attention span to stick to one - I love to commission artists of all sorts of styles, and generally as long as the markings and such are right, they're all Lobo to me! Even if some of them look nothing alike, haha.
I was just upset and searched roos on FA because most artists draw them really wrong (funny dog-esque noses?!), and this made me feel soo much better. I didn't scroll down at first, and was frustrated with that digigrade roo, but then you even addressed that! THANK YOU for this nice sheet, I feel so much beter about FA artists because of it
Well, in a website loaded with sick stuff (castration torture, abnormal and unnatural deformity, wanton homo sex, incest, ....),it's refreshing to find something not only entertaining but edifying.
My Kank and his mate Kira can be "type E": so anthro, that they can with some clothes they can pass as human (no fur, tails hidden....). Yet they have customs alien to humans (such as wearing a blindfold for 72 hours to expand the other senses, in a rite of passage.). Inability to focus on a consistent origin for my characters, has led to giving up on them some 16 years ago.
I guess that Chip & Dale are type A or B for chipmunks, and Alvin & Brittany are type D or even E.

Interesting. You are correct, because of the tarsal development a roo is clearly plantigrade... but normal walking with feet that large would be nearly impossible to accomplish in the image 3rd from the left were the legs to be structurally correct. My thinking is that the digitigrade stance would be a behavioral adaptation as a result of the unusual leg structure; much the way a human martial artist, ballet dancer or runner may become accustomed to walking on the balls of their feet because it affords an advantage in movement.
My Kangaroo character is... I'd say B? Maybe even B/C mix? Not sure. Depending on situation the kangaroo I draw stand on either their whole legs or just their feet. Usually their feet like C when battling, but they stand on their legs like B in friendly/confident pre-battle poses.
This is very well done! You did a great job on making types for one animal. it can be used for Feral and Anthro references.
Type B can also be used without the need of Large Cartoon eyes. And maybe the Anthro arms would be semi-anthro..Enough to be used for all fours but also enough to be used to grab and hold on to things. Say Type B Type 2 or something to that effect.
Just a thought.

I'm type none. I actually have digigrade because there is no such thing as right and wrong for your personal sona. And digigrade is just my favorite do my roo has it.
However I only accept and will agree to these types of charts IF your getting a commission and want it more natural.
Otherwise my roo will have digi legs and there's no rules to say I can't.
