Furry D&D - Tezep, god of maddness, fire and swamps
<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
Tezep is an ancient god of hunger, madness and fire. He resembles a prehistoric dragon without wings, but when he walks, he stands upright like most sentients. His snout is long and crocodilian, and he has a finned crest of spines down his back and the length of his tail. Sometimes those who venture into the deepest swamps in search of adventure and lost temples return, babbling madly about old gods and a giant swamp lizard. Sometimes they never return at all, and those are said to be taken by Tezep. His followers tend to be the few reptilian intelligences in the world of Evara, although those mammilian worshippers often count among their members wierd, ancient throwbacks. Some say this is caused by worshiping Tezep, while others claim that only the demented would follow that mad god. It is known that Tezep can "bless" his followers with a curse that changes them during the new moon into a bestial, throwback form of their race, and that such creatures are often uncontrolable, mad killers who slay or maim all they can find. Tezep's symbol is a slit-pupiled eye surrounded by a halo of fire, and his domains are fire, evil, madness, and scaleykind.
Na'Nfr takes his place on the rope and as he starts to build up his swing to repeat Mekie's actions, Whault steps up to the edge of the rubble island and makes a rather impressive jump about 7 feet out into the water. Once there, the ferret splashes around impressively as well, but makes no headway, instead simply managing to stay afloat, quite a feat considering he's wearing hide armor and trying to swim with a staff in his paws. As Whault makes his attempt to swim the distance, Na'Nfr swings out for the final time, the Anubian letting go of the rope at the top of his arc. He gracefully lands right at the edge of the water, the backs of his paws sending out little ripples as he ballances perfectly on the shore. As Whault sinks below the surface, leaving a circle of ripples behind, Marissa builds up the swing she needs to make the crossing. She also easily makes the jump, landing on the other side. For a moment, there is no sign of the ferret, then Whault emerges from the pool, spluttering a bit as he crawls up out of the depths, having simply walked his way across the pool...
Mechanics:
Whault:
1d20-1=18 vs DC 10 standing jump, 3 foot minimum, +1 foot every 2 pts over 10 = 7 feet.
1d20-5=9 vs DC 10, attempt to make headway swimming failed, but not to drowning
Na'Nfr:
1d20+7=17 vs DC 10 to hang on to wet rope
1d20+9=25 vs DC 10 to let go at the right time
Marissa:
1d20+2=12 vs DC 10 to hang on the wet rope
1d20+1=19 vs DC 10 to let go at the right time

wow such a cool pic his expression is just this calm malevolance and crazyness. its kinda like when the joker smiles at you sweetly you know the mind is totaly mad. very cool god concept too.
as for mekie she will smile at poor little whault walking up out of the watter "hehehe next time i supose you can just carry a big rock with you so you can just walk the whole way along the bottom" she sais playfully before taking out her weapons again and leaving the glowing rock were it is so it gives her enough light to lead the way and make casual spot checks as before. she takes off quickly down the cave tunnle

You'd have to be deliberately ignoring them to avoid spotting the trail of puddles. It seems your quarry did indeed come this way. In fact, the puddles seem more prolific now. Perhaps because they just left a large pool of water? The dribblings lead north away from the grotto and deeper into the cave system...
The tunnel does indeed go deeper, opening up a bit and seeming to split to the left and right, although it's pretty dark that far down the tunnel and hard to be sure.
While you have traveled some distance from the temple, with all the twists and turns you've made, you feel you are probably still under the temple grounds, just much further down now.

"No..." the thoroughly soaked ferret replies, brushing locks of matted-down hair out of his face as he looks over the significantly drier party members. "Next time, I'm doing it your way."
A few flicks of the wrists followed by a several snaps of the heel serve as a mostly futile attempt to shake water from his extremities. Plodding off after Mekie with an audible squelch to his step, it's apparent that the remainder of Whault's day is going to be a soggy one.
