Russolo Act 1 (Revolution 10 Mix)

I am a DJ and I am what I play

This piece has a rather tortured history. In 1991, I was really into the Art of Noise and I was fascinated by the layering of sounds. I happened to have a Sears boombox that would allow me to play two tapes at once. I could then output the results to a big, clunky rack system I had at the time. I then took all the recordings of noise that I had, put them on Reader's Digest sample tapes and did a mix. I wound up doing three of these pieces, but I liked the first one the best.
Fast forward to 2006, and I had digitized the piece with the intention of remixing it, but soon lost interest. It wasn't until summer of 2009 that I finally got around to doing a remix, using Audacity. While there are some original recorded sounds, this is mostly made up recordings and sounds from other sources. Original recordings includes radio and TV sounds from the US and Japan, wind chimes, a microwave, my scratching of a Star Wars story record, and a PC game. Also includes political speeches, samples of old radio programs, a US Navy record from the 1960s, bird sounds, and telephone calls to France.
This is a low quality, mono version, in order to get the 20:20 long track under FA's file size limits. For a higher quality stereo version, please visit http://wbwolf.masemware.com
