Philomela Voice Test [MIDI]
<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
You can listen to the actual results by going "previous" for Philomela, and "Next" for Philophana "First" will return to the plotting page for those two.
Tried to imagine how the various songbirds would sound.
this is just a test. anyway. my name is Philomela... i honestly doubt you can understand anything of what it's being said here
for once this has been made by yours truly.
It will be soon moved into "scraps" where it belongs, but for a first try i'd say it was not that bad.

One would have to have a MIDI player .. are such things still standard in PC operating systems? I thought mp3 had rendered it obsolete .. because the MIDI player is reliant on your computer's built-in synthesizer to play back the file (giving wildly variable results based on the hardware you're using) but mp3 is an actual recording that will sound the way the artist intended, no matter what machine you play it back on.
All of my gear is hardware-based. I sometimes use the MIDI plug to connect synthesizers to each other, but I do not have a DAW and haven't used the software side of MIDI in over 20 years. (and no USB-to-MIDI converter, so there's no way for my computer to talk to my synthesizer that way)

No, that's exactly how a psychoacoustic illusion works. They function a lot better if you have a text to hear, otherwise you really need something incredibly precise to reproduce a voice.
