Dranlathos: (Translation: City of The Peaks), also known as The Immortal City, is one of the largest cities on the planet Alcanti. For over 200,000 years it has been the political, cultural and symbolic crown of the Sublime Drkanid Imperium. A metropolis that Dranlathos sprawls across an alpine mountain valley, over four hundred million call it home and a further six hundred million are estimated to live within a commuter belt up to two hundred miles out, provided by a thorough mass transit system. It is here the very grandest echelons of imperial society exist. With such prestige, the city is famous for accommodating the very creme of the galactic elite. Figures powerful and wealthy, measuring their net worth in the trillions see Dranlathos as playground, a retreat and a place of important business. And nightclubs such as the galactically-famous Aphrodite's Abode cater to the universe's most discerning of high-value clientele.
The most striking feature of Dranlathos' skyline is the series of arcologies that hug, or in some cases replaced the mountains that historically made the valley much warmer than it might have been at the northern latitudes the city sits on. Both between and within these megalithic structures are the engines of state, the infrastructure to make an empire spanning thousands of light-years even remotely manageable. The clean, gild-framed skyscrapers that exist everywhere in the city are nicknamed "the spires of Gold and Glass" in reference to the wealth, organisation and displays of grandeur that characterise the city as one of the Imperium's greatest.
