A bit of information being added. Like now you know what the symbols on the tails' foreheads all meant and why the mother instantly reacted to Richard when she saw him. And a few other things that are very relevant to the plot of the entire story. And yeah, the fact that the knowledge is still there but the memories are not means that it was a deliberate attempt. That someone went out of their way to track down one of the strongest telepaths in the galaxy, knock them out and wipe their memories but leave all their skills and knowledge completely intact. Not something to be just taken very casually.

And the blackout marks something that is very particular for me with this story. I am currently posting stuff to DeviantArt, Here and SoFurry. And for this particular story, they all branch out into completely different stories after Chapter 6.
