Land of the Free. Home of the Fursuit.

Fursuiter

OK, I'll admit it. Sometimes the locals are downright blase when it comes to my public fursuiting; another giant dog, oh boy...
Not so with the tourists!
These two guys had been in America for all of 6 hours. They were from Poland, emigrees from The Ivory Coast.
They were already convinced that the US was the best country ever invented, what with our cheap gas, huge SUVs and clean public restrooms. And then they met me....
Their English was basic, and my Polish is non-existant, so we communicated with hugs and smiles.
The guy standing half way outside the frame just bought a cowbay hat.
His buddy was hugging a 6 foot dog. The Pacific ocean was flat calm, the sun was breaking through the clouds, and they were having the best day.
Ever.
They ran off for their next American adventure, smiling and giggling like little kids. It made me feel really good; their joy stayed with me all day.
And now I'm famous in Poland.

On anotyher note...

You've been paying attention.
I'm really flattered that you remember my last posts!
...*Whispers* Don't tell the others! ;O
It means a lot to me.
And I thank you for the nice compliment!

Just like you..
Like how they smiling and the glow in their eyes! Nice pick dude!
I hope the rest of their trip was as good as the beginning
Yes, you do want a fursuit.
I've had sooo much fun with mine and met the nicest people.
I hope to see many pix of your suiting
adventures one day!
Tonight at elevn.
the recent deaths of the Polish leadership.
My condolences to the Polish people,
and rest assured that I'm ready to step in if needed!
I'd forgotten about that.
That's....inceadibly.....bad.
Poor poland.
:c
I think you'd make a good president!
You'd teach people how to be open minded and accepting.
You just gotta learn Polish first.
xD
Furthermore:
Ryba!
O:
i said fish.
:p
You should be proud of yourself, dude! You've made a good first impression of America for those guys!
I wanted to post this picture ASAP given the
situation in Poland now.
They were such wonderful people.
or you'd get right back on the plane...
I have to say: I've seen tons of fursuiters photos here. And as far as i'm convinced, you're the only one doin' it right! I really need to get my bodysuit finished x_x it makes much more of an impression than just my head and the partial xD
I have worn mine in the car before. The responses to that have been awesome xD SO MANY DOUBLE TAKES. (of course, I wasn't the one driving xD)
But yeah, you, you are a king among fursuiters
What a nice thing to say. Thank you!
I would love to pull up next to you at a traffic light.
It would just make my day...
It's so easy to make people smile,
and the feeling stays with you all day.
We gotta' suit together one day...
Maybe if we end up at the same con we can go suit :D
"Dogbomb. A giant dog. Free hugs."
I wonder how security would react to a fursuiter
greeting people just off the plane?
I think it would reduce the "terror threat."
Who would want to hurt a large, friendly dog?
And there we have it, world peace through fursuiting. "love"
All my stuff says "Dogbomb" all over it.
So I explained to the TSA guy-
"Don't worry, it's just my fursona name. I'm
on my way to participate in a furry convention.
See, I put on my fursuit, walk around hugging people,
drink at the bar, go to dances and etc etc."
I don't know why he gave me a strange look...
Your wonderful comments sure make mine.
Waiting for the suit to get done
is the hardest part. But it's worth it!
How does that work for you, with the head and all?
I love to blab!
It's very easy with this head- the jaw is fully
articulated and moves very naturaly.
I think it makes the suit!
I respect those that are silent in suit
but it just ain't me....
Personally, I think some fursuiters are a bit creepy. Not like "eew, get me away from those freaks" creepy but I would appreciate some interaction vs. just standing there otherwise it's more awkward. Talking breaks the ice and cuts down on the creepyness in ways gestures don't. I understand that sometimes one's suit limits one's ability to speak clearly and sometimes that can't be avoided but I think it's really neat when someone finds a way to talk in suit. And your suit is pretty cool.
And, the whole idea of furries is that these animals are anthromorphic so they should talk, or at least somehow communicate at a human level...
I make an effort not to be creepy.
And I think talking in suit goes a long
way to making people comfortable around a suiter.
Take them into the fandom and send them to Eurofurence! XD
Cultural diversity can often lead to hilarious
situations. This was one such!
Thank you so much for reading it.
You may be surprised by the positive reactions you get.
I recall Ivory Coast is a French speaking nation, these two gents must be pretty good on the language since they gotta handle 3 languages assume they also speak English and travel to US.
I wonder how these folks Polish would sound like. I've heard (East) Indian Scottish speaking English with a combo of Hindi & Scots accent and it took me a while to catch on what he was talking about. Then again, my voice is so low that people cannot even name my accent (Should that even be called accent?) as a visible minority Canadian.
You won't believer what people called me on Team Fortress 2... Arnie... To make this worse, one of the new Starcraft 2 units have a stereotypical Arnold like accent and that unit happen to be among my most favorite.
I could not begin to describe how cool the
accents were. Sounded like birds singing;
really, really deep voiced birds....
A great country where fursuiters are free to roam the streets!
Then again, I suppose a large volume of fursuiters in one place will attract unwanted attention.
I roamed around everywhere and the
folks were all so nice!
