RIP Rush Limbaugh
News this morning broke on the air, when Rush's wife, Kathryn, announced his passing from stage 4 Lung cancer at the beginning of his show. He had been battling it for a year.
I first heard Rush on the air in July of 1988, Tucson was one of the first cities to air his show. I was shocked hearing somebody like Rush on the air, disbelieving that he was actually speaking his mind on the air that wasn't just speaking points for the station manager/owner. I even got to talk to him on the air in 1989! Rush literally, single handedly shaped talk radio in the US, He also literally saved AM radio, spawning numerous other AM talk shows that otherwise would not exist if it wasn't for him. Only other in his category was Art Bell and his Coast to Coast late night show. Rush's conservative lean was immediately a success nation wide with over 650 stations with his EIB (Excellence in Broadcasting) Network. And a serious bone to the liberal left, who actively tried to get him off the air almost from the start. They even tried their own network, Air America, which only lasted from 2004-2010 and only had a tenth of the listeners Rush had.
I didn't always agree with everything what Rush had to say, didn't listen to him for years, mainly cause local radio wouldn't host him until 2016 again (Now the station has four conservative shows aired daily. In hyper liberal Madison! AND has the highest rating among talk radio locally!) In 1992 I was in New York and tried to get his book "The way things Ought to be" signed, but studio security wouldn't even accept the book to be signed, even if I paid in advance to have it shipped back, A few months later
Comus shocked and surprised me with a personally signed autographed photo of Rush. And because of Rush, I learned to appreciate good quality cigars, not the Swisher Sweets shit.
President Trump would award Rush the US Medal of Freedom in his speech to the nation in January 2020. Plus he was a recipient of the Marconi award in Radio (Basically the Oscar of Radio) and numerous other awards.
While on my job, I listened to Rush's last live on the air show on Christmas Eve 2020 and was kind of stunned hearing him announce it. He had fill in guest hosts since then. I listened to talk radio mainly cause I hate listening to sports talk radio that infests the area. And only so much can listen to top 40 or alternative rock. And I am most certainly not into Country and Western.
Hate him or liked him, Rush made his mark on the country and talk radio.

Devastated. He was my "Radio Dad" in the 80's and early Nineties. I remember it was my Friend Bob McCarty who turned me on to him during The First Gulf War. He showed that humor and mockery was the best weapon against our adversaries, and I have taken that to heart ever since, to the current days of 4chan. His voice was a comfort. To this day I still drink Snapple Diet Peach Iced Tea, and will probably have one in his honor. As Mark Steyn said, "Talent Returned to God."
He had strong convictions and did not waver. Too many politicians and media hosts today waver or shift positions to match whatever is popular at the time to fit in. Not Rush. He was a blowhard and highly opinionated person that just spoke his mind, agree or disagree with him. You didn't have to agree with him, and I think it was more enlightening when people countered his positions. I learned more about different sides if a situation as a result. There isn't always a right or wrong side, and that is okay. Sometimes we learn more from those we disagree with than those whom we surround ourselves.
Add to this. 3 hours and seldom, any guests. His post monologue conversation was participatory, taking on agreement or disagreement as he saw fit, for those he thought made the show good.
The format of Modern Streaming, be it Twitch Gaming of Long Man Is Long movie discussion, would have been unthinkable without him

Oh, really? That asshole Limbaugh claimed that the Christchurch mosque massacre in 2019 - you know, the one where 52 people were murdered in cold blood by a right-wing racist, the largest mass shooting in New Zealand history for thirty years - was some kind of a "false flag" operation.
Rush Limbaugh Claims New Zealand Mosque Shootings Were False Flag Operation, Offers No Evidence
As a Kiwi, the fucker can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned.

Well frankly, I'm "easily riled" by the fact he claimed that the Christchurch mosque massacre in 2019 - you know, the one where 52 people were murdered in cold blood by a right-wing racist, the largest mass shooting in New Zealand history for thirty years - was some kind of a "false flag" operation.
He had no sympathy for the deaths of 52 of my countrymen, so I have no sympathy for his passing. Good riddance.

Pheagle, that is a lazy man's excuse. If you are not willing to back up your claims, then that invalidates your statement and makes you look foolish. Give yourself some credibility and stand up for your position with some good supporting material. If you feel that strong about a subject, be ready to substantiate it, otherwise you just demean yourself.
How about this? Contains quotes from one of his last radio shows, as well as a bio and how he adversely affected the USA.

Once again, none of the quotes from that article(and that show, as I recall listening to part of it) appear to me like Rush was spouting racist, homophobic, or transphobic vitriol. Sounds to me like he disagreed on what the violence at the Capitol last month was and has always disagreed with the Democrats and the mainstream media on what course is best for the country, and apparently millions of people agreed with him.
Guess what? It's okay to disagree. It's okay to debate, and it's okay to engage in conversation with someone you disagree with, especially when that conversation can turn into figuring out workable solutions to problems that both 'sides' can agree is a course of action that benefits the most people possible while upholding the shared values we have as a nation.
What I don't find okay is this apparently ironclad neomoralism espoused by some on the political Left that only they are right, only they have the right to govern, and that any dissent or debate must be squashed and removed.

Once again, the burden of proof is on the accuser. Prove to me it doesn't exist, because I see a lot of that practically everywhere these days. Everything has been made hyperpolitical over the past year, hell, over the past decade. You don't need to live and breathe news and politics 24/7, but you also don't need to be a weatherman to know what way the wind is blowing.
Ask Bo Snerdley if Rush was racist and he will definitely say no. He is black BTW. He is Rush's call screener, producer, and engineer for his show since it began. Anyone who truly knew Rush or had the opportunity to meet in person, would flat out disagree with such labels.
Dude, will you STFU and either be respectful of another person's views/opinion or just piss off?! Those labels you throw around have been used so excessively by the hateful left, that they've lost all meaning! At this point, by your shallow standards, everyone on this website who is right of Stalin is a white supremacist, racist, (insert ...ist)! Your bullshit stinks worse than raw sewage. Take your hatred and persecution and cram it!
I think I've encountered you before...how about you get lost and bother someone else?
You want me to be respectful? Try supporting someone worth supporting. The hateful left? Everyone to the right of Stalin is a white supremacist?
Dunno who you've been talking to but it sure as hell wasn't me. Not even close to what I believe.

Yeah, you probably have encountered me before. But I needed to speak my mind towards someone who throws those same ad hominem attacks at pretty much any prominent conservative over wanton distorted "facts". I'm disgusted by it and making myself heard towards anyone who goes on such screeds. Four plus years of concentrated hate towards an entire political party because we "dared" to support a president who isn't politically correct. Coupled with the gross double standards I see from leftist figures who do the same things they rail against rightists for, I've hit my limit.
Bottom line, I'll support who I wish...whether you like him or not. It's not your place to demand who I support politically.

You dared support the dumbest, selfish, most ignorant piece of shit this country has ever seen and you expect peace from the left? Maybe try harder to elect someone who isn't a complete shit-for-brains?
No, I have zero patience left for people who continue to defend Trump. I'm fucking done. You should consider examining your morals because there's something missing.

That's your narrow-minded opinion. You see a "piece of shit"...I see someone who made my life and the lives of millions more financially independent while making good on his promises that we elected him for. And as long as leftists keep espousing their "truth" like it's the only truth, then those on the right (ie: me) will always fight back against you guys. This nation has never been so divided, but it's not Trump's fault. It's the fault of the mainstream media that had long since abandoned all journalistic integrity in lieu of pushing their anti-Trump narrative filled with lies and deceipt. Hollywood has long since abandoned making entertaining movies in favor of pushing that same anti-Trump narrative in lots of their shows and movies, some pretty on the nose. Thanks to that, I can't enjoy any national media anymore because I don't want to be lectured and lied to.
You talk about supporting someone else...like Joe Biden? A man who spent most of his presidential campaign flubbing his words consistently, leaning on a teleprompter like a safety blanket just to get through his speeches, taking drugs just to get through a presidential debate, talking about his leg hairs, feeling and sniffing young girls, making unwanted advances on other women, hiding out in his basement most of the time, barely attracting maybe a couple dozen supporters in their cars honking horns, signing dozens of executive orders while being caught on mic saying that he doesn't know what he's signing...
...you mean someone like HIM? I don't pretend to think I can change a Biden supporter's mind about him, no matter how much solid proof I offer, because they refuse to listen. Guess that's what'll keep us so perpetually divided for years to come. The only difference is I've seen the truth and the facts with my own eyes. I did my own research and not trusting any one news source to tell me what I'm supposed to believe. Rush Limbaugh's only "crime" was that he was a Trump supporter. There are countless public figures from ALL sides of the political spectrum who have said things that were politically incorrect or even straight-up wrong. No one is a saint, not even Trump. That's the thing with politics, people drudge up dirt on their opponents for the sole purpose of smearing them. But at this point, I digress.
Hate Trump all you want. But don't presume to tell me who I should support. If that makes me an "...ist", then look good and hard in the mirror before you judge others.

I posted about a dozen reasons why Biden is not trustworthy and you single out his stuttering? Give me a break! lol
You love to fault every minute thing Trump says and does, yet you don't like it when the shoe is on the other foot. Double standards, bro.
Also, I'd say your civility went out the window long before I even showed up here.

You're correct, it's almost as if conservatives have a long history of treating people with disabilities like shit. Party of family values my ass.
Also, facts aren't opinions, there are endless examples of Trump being a sack of shit, like him falsely claiming that Muslims were dancing on fooftops after 9/11, just to name one.

"Twitter is real."
LOL, so are Unicorns and the tooth Fairy.
What I loved about Rush was he always spoke his mind but gave you all the pieces of the puzzle that caused him to reach those conclusions, he would often flat out say something to the effect of "don't follow me blindly, do the research yourself, get the facts yourself, and don't trust one source just because someone said it was true". I'm paraphrasing but you get the gist. I just wished more people were able to listen to reason.

You can learn a lot from those you disagree with. Often times it can be awkward in finding the truth about yourself in the process.
I've been there and didn't like what I saw. I have forced myself to look at more viewpoints than those I was most comfortable with and learned more than I wanted to, but found I *needed* to.

Not everyone must agree with a single point of view. It is important to have an open mind and expose to the ideas and views of those you do not agree with just as much as those you do. Through differences and challenges we grow as individuals and a nation. Our country was based on that with no single king, but a system of compromises and diversity.
True, a lot of the vocal people on FA are liberal, and that is fine. A lot of people are conservative, but fairly quiet about it as the current atmosphere would have them attacked and prosecuted for their difference in opinions.
Consider this, how you treat others that disagree with says more about you than it does about them. You can only really speak for yourself, so be sure what you say is worth it.

So you would cast millions of people aside for what a few did? Your position would have all of Japan's citizens condemning you personally for whatb the US did to Japanese Americans in internment camps during WW II. Is that a fair assessment in.your eyes?
I think you may have a big set of blinders on at this moment that is affecting your rational thought process.
And I am fine with that. Your views and opinions are yours and yours alone. I would be curious to find out why you feel the way you do. I may learn something new myself.

Where's that outrage towards the thousands of BLM and antifa punks who trashed nearly every major city in the country while assaulting and even killing Trump supporters? Double standards, dude. This is why we're so divided because you cherry pick your outrage. Oh, and it was antifa who posed as Trump supporters and instigated the Capitol Hill riots to frame them. You know, just FYI.
You want proof? Here it is: https://www.newswars.com/more-proof.....pitol-debacle/
And no, I never once expected to get any respect from you. You've made it quite clear what you think of conservatives.

Notice how he immediately retreated to a poisoned well fallacy?
And he'll handwave all of the left wing violence and unauthorized protests of the past decade and more, including those in the capitol (such as AOC's storming of Nancy Peloci's office), if he even knew the events happened.

He's also a AOC supporter and follower. That alone shows a utter lack of intelligence. He views Twitter as a holy site, another red flag, openly curses and insults those that have different opinions from his, add another Red flag. He keeps 'Tweeting' here, even after I asked him to knock it off....another red flag. And after his more recent accusations against me and comparing me to supporting Hitler, I finally blocked his worthless, attention whoring ass.
One of the few people that I will say Good Riddance to. His awful, hateful, and ignorant rhetoric belongs back in the dark ages. No one is truly evil though, and there were some valid thoughts and concepts among his rancid world views, and I’ll choose to remember them amidst the fields of utter garbage he cultivated them from.
Staff? I’m not a staff member. I support this site with a few bucks each month to help cover the costs. And I speak ill of his views on myself and my friends, and would not consider casting judgement on his life as a whole. I only wish those terrible views he had had died with him.
One last time.. Irrelevant to this journal. If you wanna divide people into only two camps, you're in for nothing but self-inflicted pain. Would you like people to assume EVERYTHING about you based on one thing? No? Then seriously, get over yourself, because you won't like it when "your own" hold the blade to your throat like so many others.
Let's see it, then. Show us your evidence. Oh wait, this is a post memorializing the passing of a prominent figure, conservative or otherwise. What you're doing is no different than marching into someone's funeral and loudly preaching to the attendees, your own negativity about that deceased individual. There's a time and a place for debates like this and here isn't one of them. No wonder rabbit-tom is on the verge of leaving. You people really need to watch what you wish for. Sooner or later, all you'll be left with is a leftwing echo chamber that'll serve no purpose than stroking each other's egos. Remember when two sides could have a civilized debate without resorting to name-calling? Good times.
I don’t know if that’s true or not, but as the old saying goes: Two wrongs don’t make a right. All this trash talk against Limbaugh makes you guys no better whatsoever. If anything, it makes you worse. One person I knew was respectful of RBG’s passing was Donald Trump himself. Make no mistake, there is NO unity here like our currently installed “president” claims. Until you leftists start demonstrating actual tolerance of other people’s views, political or otherwise without resorting to name-calling, there will never be unity. This deep divide will not go away anytime soon.
"You are by far, much worse."
Oh do grow up, child. Twitter banned your idol, get over it. Twitter has a bias against violent language, not conservatives. And I speak from experience.
Trump encouraged it and most of us intelligent folks were able to read between the lines. Not my fault you couldn't.

They wanted to call witnesses, and then they were threatened by a filibuster, with McConnell threatening to call irrelevant witnesses (i.e., not even connected with the insurgency, but in quantity so as to use time in establishing as such) so as to drag out the proceedings and obstruct any activity of the legislative branch.
The Democrats WERE taking it to trial, with an overwhelming amount of physical evidence proving that Trump broke the law. And they weren't the ones who were cowardly. You want to see courage? Look at the GOP Senators who voted to convict.
This isn't a battle of one ideal over another, it's an attempt to enforce the existing laws and show that nobody is above them.

Pheagle, calling for a purge of anyone based solely on their views or opinions only serves to identify yourself as intolerant and close minded. We have had world wars resulting from such behavior.
We benefit as a nation by embracing different views and opinions. If we didn't, then the United States would still be under The Crown of England's rule. We would still have slavery and women unable to vote. We The People broke free of the past, throwing down the chains that bound us to limited thinking and let us explore our differences, becoming stronger by learning from those we disagree with, compromising and including those alternate view points.
We are a strong proud nation for all of our differences. We should never forget that.

I believe you may have missed the point. I am not really sure how to make it more plain
I suspect you are interpreting what you want to read versus what is there.
No worries, we can revisit this at a later time when people are not so highly charged at the moment.
Sound fair?

This comment section is not well formatted for such discourse. Perhaps it is time for everyone to step back and take a break for another day in the future when people do not feel pressured to defend their positions. We're adults and can disagree with respect.
Let's leave it with that.
Let's leave it with that.
Affirmative action isn’t tolerance. It’s babying. If anything, it’s its own form of racism. Giving a job position to an underqualified minority person over a fully qualified white person, for the sole purpose of fulfilling some contrived diversity quota, isn’t tolerance. I never once cared about race...until you lot kept nonstop shoving race in my face. You make everything solely about race instead of other more important factors.
Okay, you know what? You are responsible for over half the comments here, and you are treating MY art page like a fucking Twitter argument.
THIS IS NOT TWITTER!!!
You and a couple others are treating my page as a Twitter Dumpster fire.
Stop...NOW! You made more than your share of arguing. You want to bitch about Rush, you go bitch on Twitter like all the others in the Clown show there. Not my page.
You show respect here, constructive criticism if you must. You have been warned. I don't want to block you , but if you cannot control yourself I will block you.

Actually it is, You are seriously nothing but an attention whore, hogging up the posts here. Over half the posts here are from you alone, yelling from the street corner at everybody within earshot. God knows what you are like on Twitter. Likely a chronic poster. The fact you got upset when I called Twitter a dumpster fire told me much. This is the same site that openly censored and banned folks that are conservative, but not liberal. Graced AntiFa for calling for action and violence, but shutting down those pointing out what Antifa is doing.
You compared Trump to Hitler, I didn't vote for Trump both times, but I also watched how the far left literally condemned him the moment he came down that escalator, and called for his impeachment hours after winning the election. I didn't care for the man, but I also note that he really wasn't given a chance to get shit done with the constant investigations, Russia Russia Russia, Impeach Impeach Impeach and Bitching when he wanted to curb the Covid chaos ASAP, but labeled him Xenophobic, then called him responsible for it. The Media didn't give him a moments rest from day one, nor did the far left. I'll give him huge credit, he's the first President in close to two decades that didn't get us in a shooting war or escalate one in progress. Plus comparing him to Hitler is utter trash. Theres no death camps, no rounding up religious people, minorities, no forced labor camps, No S.S. running around seizing people and placing them in concentration camps, or placing them against a wall. No forcing people to wear armbands or colored triangles on their clothing, forcing them to live in packed, behind barbed wire ghettos, no seizing of their properties and issuing it to members of the RNC. And certainly no invading neighboring countries.
Admittedly, the man Tweeted too much, and was a pompous ass, but he was no Hitler. But you clearly are so thick headed, one sided and nor willing to accept that others have different opinions. So go pollute somebody elses page for attention and asspats. What you are doing is literally McCarthyism, but instead of pointing out commies behind every blade of grass, you are accusing anybody Right of Mao as a Fascist .
Go back to your dumpster fire and quit splashing the gas of accusations all over the place, you will get burned.

How about the yesterday's attack on Portland courthouse by separatists then?

If that's true, then here's yet another example of the same fascism that we conservatives/Trump supporters are frequently accused of. I'm already in the process of transitioning to Weasyl for that very reason that FA has become too far left for my tastes. This website has become poisoned by drama and finger pointing. Remember when FA was simply about posting furry content? I'm having a hard time remembering that myself.
They are all mainstream media, all talking heads, all 'reporters', all just as loud, and in many cases, more accusatory . They all have their time on TV, cable and print. Lemmon and Maddow are notorious for open attacks and Lemmon and Cenk are notorious for knee jerk reactionary shoot from the hip comments.
To quote the Fox...Oh! Theres a YOU now!! Like I didn't see that coming!
Don't lump me with the extremes on either side. The last decent commentator I listened to and followed was the late, great Paul Harvey, and when Cronkite died, as did TV journalists as a whole.

Journalism has gone from being a neutral reporting of the news, to a sided means. Admittedly there were heavy leaning journalists on both sides for well over a century. But the good ones were neutral. Personally they may have been democrat or republican, but they reported as a neutral.
Journalism died a long time ago. Every TV newscast is repeating the same script when they report the news especially when it comes to political ones. They are told what to say and no longer do any real original reporting confirmed with facts. True journalism requires work and the whole industry got lazy.
I wish I had your gumption. All I ever see on the left, which permeats seemingly 90% of all television waves, is anti-Trump and/or anti-Conservative narratives filled with more holes than swiss cheese. On the few occasions I have read a leftwing article, I easily spotted their lies and could just as easily debunk the bullshit they spew.
I'm increasingly leaning towards, providing I am knowing my time is soon, to flat out deleting my accounts and art fully. literally just erasing myself out of existence . I certainly don't want any memorials, no tributes, nobody to remember me. Like in the movie CoCo, I want that as the Skeletons say, "The final Death". Cause I frankly don't give a crap about my life anymore.
Another reason why I am burning my unsold, unwanted art, cause if nobody else wants it, why should I?

I think I messaged you a few times now, but I haven't heard back from you. I've since started transitioning away from FA over to Weasyl. Yes, it's nowhere near as popular as FA, but at least it's drama-free. We all need to stick together and support each other there to make our time spent there worthwhile.
The fact that people celebrate his passing (among others they'd senselessly like to have dead) just shows how evil people have become and how divided we have been made.
Rest in peace, Rush. Didn't agree with everything you said and did (and that's a healthy thing in humanity!), but you've been an important figure in media. Godspeed.
Rest in peace, Rush. Didn't agree with everything you said and did (and that's a healthy thing in humanity!), but you've been an important figure in media. Godspeed.
Think of this. If half of the people in this country are willing to celebrate your death, how evil were you? How terrible were you? Rush was a bigot, a mysoginist, a racist, a gay basher, and he used his reach to target and tear down peolple. I'm glad he's dead. He can roast slowly in hell. Unfortunately, due to his influence, his actions will continue to cause great harm for years to come. Say he had influence, but don't pretend he was anything other than evil.
The difference is, I don't hate RL because of things were out of his control. His sexuality, gender, race, medical problems, disability. I hate him because his actions were evil and destructive. He chose to embrace and spread his poison. Your false-equivalence holds no water here.
You don't like someone, post your thoughts on YOUR channel.
You don't like someone, yet go TO SOMEONE ELSE's channel who's made a memorial picture, a eulogy acknowledging that person's existence, to rant, rave, bitch and complain?
Fuck YOU, cupcake!
Respect is EARNED, not demanded.
If you can't show respect, you sure's fuck don't deserve it.
That's a lesson far too many in today's world never learned, or simply chooses not to.
Get it yet?
If not, go *SMACK* both your parents (if you know them), for failing to raise you properly.

I don't like Rush Limbaugh. He doesn't have a Furaffinity, but besides that, he doesn't like furries much anyway.
I don't really know rabbi-tom, just saw something I liked that he commissioned.
Go fuck yourself, douchebag.
Respect is earned, and Rush sure as fuck ain't earned jack squat from me or most of the fandom.
I'd smack your parents but I'm better than that.

So you took it upon yourself to push your bile in a post memorializing a prominent conservative figure, knowing you'd get a lot of blowback? Talk about disrespectful. Also, I'm sure Rush not having the respect of the furry fandom did little to hurt his reputation. I said it before, but no one will ever be expected to be a saint or capable of winning a worldwide popularity contest. You don't like him, bully on you. But don't go inappropriately bashing the guy under someone's submission meant to memorialize him.

Bro, take a look at this post. I'm hardly the first one. And furthermore, Limbaugh was a contemptable human being any way you slice it.
When I don't like someone, there's usually a pretty damned good reason for it.
You could have left well enough alone, called yourself the better person...but we both know that ain't ever gonna happen.

He’s giving Rush all due respect, which is...none whatsoever. There’s no privilege here, he’s just stating the reality based on Rush’s actions and behavior. Rush didn’t air an opposing point of view, he aired verbal poison.
There’s better ways to present a different point of view than lambasting the other side with a dearth of facts, which is what Limbaugh frequently did.

I did not realize voicing an opinion was evil. Is voicing your opinion here, after his death, as an 'in your face' to him a good thing? I hardly think going anywhere and talking like that about ANYONE like that after they die is good. Something tells me if it was Obama dying you would be incensed by people saying the same things you have said about him. I would dare say what your doing is no better than the man you condemn, you just dont think that because you feel he deserves it in your mind.
Its also not false equivalence. It's called a double standards.
Its also not false equivalence. It's called a double standards.
You're comparing apples and oranges here. When did Obama go on live radio and spout total bullshit and hateful speech to ignorant listeners? Never, that's when.
Granted it's a bit low class to talk like that about someone after they pass away but in retrospect, he sure as hell deserved it.
Granted it's a bit low class to talk like that about someone after they pass away but in retrospect, he sure as hell deserved it.
Obama went to a police funeral and then at the end used the platform to, in front of the families, preach to people on police brutality. Now, last I checked, when a pastor uses a funeral to try and preach and talk about how people need to repent or fire and brimstone, that guy right there is a serious asswipe. I dont care who you are.
But I guess its different isnt it? This one is okay and that one isnt.
But I guess its different isnt it? This one is okay and that one isnt.
Don't change the subject, that isnt the issue. The issue is lecturing people at a funeral about the people they loved and basically saying they were racist/bad people. Also none of those police were accused of it. What I think does not matter. What was done is. I mean can you imagine someone getting on a stage to say a few words at a military funeral and then going on a rant about "But the military are dangerous people that often kill civilians lives over seas. We have to be aware of this and do better."
Is there any way to middle finger grieving wives, girlfriends and children more, than to imply they could be a terrible person after dying?
Is there any way to middle finger grieving wives, girlfriends and children more, than to imply they could be a terrible person after dying?
Don't change the subject to something you brought up? Okay I won't do that again LOL
This isn't a funeral, it's an image celebrating his life, a life that should not be celebrated.
By the way, did you bother to listen to Obama's entire speech? There's a lot of good stuff in it. https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo.....morial-service

I did not change the subject to police brutality, I stated that is what he talked about. YOU are the one who wanted to change the focus to purely police brutality, a very long tangential path that does not change anything. Also it does not matter. If you died would you want someone at your funeral to talk about "Furries are very problematic as they are prone to raping animals, wanting to screw minors and living in a made up world in their head. We need to not be people who enable them." in front of your loved ones, even though your not associated with those things? Because your talking like its acceptable to preach virtues at funerals at the families expense while they are grieving.
You say Celebrate, where as most people would say commemorate. Lots of the people here that are not spitting on his grave are often saying "I did not agree with everything he said but he did some good things too." The fact that people are even bothering to come spit on the grave and condemn anyone paying their respects, says way MORE about them than it does him.
And of course my last point, everyone here says he said terrible things, while they themselves say terrible things about someone who just died. Feel free to keep arguing if you want but the text is getting to compressed and my points will stand for themselves.

"okay explain to me what you think about police brutality" was a short sentence asking you one fucking question, it wasn't an attempt to "change the subject" for Chrissakes.
And don't try to compare this to people saying all furries are sexual deviants. Get the fuck out of my face if you can't see a difference.

I have lied about NOTHING. Stop using the typical Republican strategy of deflecting away from stuff you claim that the other side is doing, yet doing themselves.
WHERE have I lied?
Christ, the American right of the last four years needs to learn that the other side isn't constantly lying or being deceitful like the American right.
There is not 'WHAT ABOUT BOTH SIDES'. There's simple facts, and consequences.
Fact: Rush Limbaugh was a horrible person.
Consequence: People are being truthful about what he said on multiple occasions, and the damage it's caused.

Oh look.
Chakat Kaiya Longtail talked shit and blocked me before I could respond, like a total coward who can't handle an opposing viewpoint. You've basically destroyed any credence you may have had. So I'll say it here. To prevent you from coming out of hiding to retort and reblock me to again prevent me from replying back, I'm blocking you as well. I don't have time for cowards.
No, that's your OPINION. It is NOT fact! Limbaugh may not have been a saint, but he was NOT a horrible person. You see, that's what I'm talking about right there. You keep talking about something like it's fact. It's a neverending pattern with you. "You're wrong!" "No, you're wrong!"
Cut the bullshit. Everybody that's everybody has said something bad at some point or another. It's called being human. Yet you weaponize the mere notion of someone saying something controversial and condemn that person without any trial, in the sense. It's just like how every court refused to see the evidence that President Trump was ready to present to prove the election fraud, to which they could continue to claim we're nutters for daring to suggest it.

I suspect comments of hatred are largely done as a means of jumping on the bandwagon just to be seen doing so for popularity, much the way celebrities have to post their support or opinions about hurricanes or school lunches.
How many of those people commenting negatively here actually have heard his show? A full broadcast? A week of shows? His was one you couldn't just sample one hour and have an opinion and it wouldn't be doing that listener proper justice. I strongly suspect people complaining here have never heard his show, or likely *any* talk radio show liberal or conservative, and are just reacting how they see their friends are and trying to fit in by doing the same.

Reflecting on his passing has made me realize that as human beings our time is fleeting, and what truly matters in our lives is the work we put into improving ourselves over the years and the impact it has on others. He really is the most impactful man to have ever been a part of AM and FM radio and even beyond that. God's speed Rush.
That you said that suggests you weren't actually listening.
The term "dittohead" was not, outside of the minds of those with animosity towards him, short for "I'm a mind-numbed robot that believes everything Rush says", but that people appreciated him and/or his show. He also told his listeners to do the research themselves, not just accept what he says as Gospel™.

Ditto head started way back. People would call up and you lost the first 30 seconds to a minute of the call to the fan saying the same "thank you" and "I agree " stuff in long drawn out fashions, wasting valuable discussion time. Then one caller said "Dittos Rush" and went right to the point, instead of repeating the same things, and it became a show staple. Its amazing how people distort that.
As I recall (vaguely), the first time was "Dittos to what the other guy said". Same basic idea, though.
Somewhat amusing, in an ironic sense, on how many who use it the other way are themselves apparently quite happy to mindlessly echo what they've been told without checking it on their own, and readily dismiss anyone that doesn't agree with them 100% on any given issue.

Like him or not, Rush is a legend. He and Paul Harvey, are the first 'Radio talk shows' I remember from my days living in CA and even Rio Linda (where Rush hails from).
Having only an AM radio at the time, there weren't many shows I could catch, so those two Hosts certainly had my undivided attention, and the more I listened to them, the more I appreciated what they had to say.
Though there are now thousands of people as 'Hosts' via this modern internet phenomena, I'm not sure we'll ever see their like again.
It can really suk, gettin' Olde. Almost all of my revered Actors/Actresses/Celebrities are gone.

If you honestly believed in your position and were willing to debate without turning it into name calling, then Rush would keep you on the line a long time. Those were always the great calls, where by the end even Rush was starting to have doubts in a set viewpoint and were wondering about alternative positions as well.
Thought provoking times.
Thought provoking times.
Perhaps, but he was still more open minded than what we have today from the right or left. It was still all right to disagree with him without people calling for you to be punished, imprisoned, or executed for having a difference of opinion.
Pretty sad what our nation has become. I largely fault social media and mob mentality.

Listened to Rush on the regular when I was a kid, back in the early '90s. Not so much in recent years, but I do credit him for reaching out to a lot of people, especially in the pre-Internet days where practically everywhere you could get your information was the major news sources. While I may not have agreed with everything he said he was an outspoken proponent of conservative values and made a significant impact on the political landscape in those times. I'll miss him.
He was a smoker in his early years, as he would frequently stated on his show "In my formerly nicotined stained fingers." And since he was a cigar smoker, difference was, you don't inhale cigar smoke into your lungs.
But its possible it contributed to his cancer in the long run. I quit smoking when I was 16, and was at a pack and a half a day back then. But I have asthma and twice double lung pneumonia, so my lungs are a mess.

I know this reply is rather off topic from what you just said here, but perhaps you should consider just deleting this post and resubmitting it with comments disabled and be done with it. Doesn't seem like civility can keep from drowning here, particularly as it pertains to a conservative figure.
Won a "Have Lunch With Rush" contest from a local AM station in 1989 where I did on-the-air interviews for my local non-profit chapter. He was doing the Rush To Excellence Tour at the time. He had a bit of a sore throat and the station manager referred him to a local doctor. At the luncheon he told us a story about Pauulll Harvey (and even said it as such). We both had poached salmon btw.
A local billboard advertising the show was vandalized, but it was left in that condition for a time.

Sorry, but this man was a disgusting human being. His legacy is that of bigotry and ignorance.
Rush said on global warming, quote, "For years I've pointed out that global warming is bogus."
When talking about Bill Clinton's daughter, Chelsea Clinton, when she was 12 years old, Rush said "Socks is the White House cat. But did you know there is also a White House dog?". He then held up a picture of the 12 year old girl.
Rush, speaking about feminism, said "Feminism has led women astray. I love the women's movement, especially when walking behind it."
Rush, speaking about the gay community said, quote, "When a gay person turns his back on you, it is anything but an insult, it's an invitation."
On women, Rush said "Women still live longer than men because their lives are easier." and when commenting on women protesting sexual harrassment, said, "They're out there protesting what they actually wish would happen to them sometimes."
Rush Limbaugh was, is, and always has been a fucking cancerous shitstain on the underwear of humanity, and no-one should mourn his fucking passing.

Whom will mourn your passing? Should people base their view of you only on what you just posted as well? Would you really want these words you posted be on your headstone?
Rush was indeed a jerk, a blowhard, and highly opinionated person.
So can be said of the founding fathers of this nation and look what it became.
We cannot change others, so we must work on being the best person we can be, faults and all.

No. It's literally fact. You're in this thread defending him from his own words, views, and opinions.
Over the years he was on the air on conservative radio, he's caused so much damage to the American populace and youth that we have Republican supporters literally falling over themselves to protect a pedophile insurrectionist, and literally perform terrorism on their own government.

You talk like liberals are so damn innocent. The list of the damage THEY'VE caused is longer than the Great Wall of China. So please don't pretend to presume Limbaugh is this evil mouthpiece trying to rally his base into rioting with impunity. That would be BLM and antifa for the last four years, particularly over the course of 2020 since Floyd's death. In other words, your hypocrisy is showing.
I never said liberals were innocent. I'm in the UK. I'm British. I'm not caught up in the bullshit that is Fox News, like the Republicans were until they went to ONN and the other far, far right broadcasts that Trump endorsed.
Limbaugh WAS an evil mouthpiece. He was for decades. Period.
BLM and Antifa did NOT storm the American Capitol.
BLM is a valid complaint about continuous double standards of the American justice system.
Antifa is a valid complaint about continuous dictator-like actions of the Trump administration, and the Republican party at large.
And, because you're literally insulting everyone you disagree with... enjoy the block list.

You went there first, sunshine. You blocking me is just cowardice, because you can't handle an opposing viewpoint. BLM and Antifa DID infiltrate and storm the capitol. You ignore the atrocities that antifa and BLM have committed. You think you have any moral high ground? Think again! Limbaugh was NOT the horrible person you make him out to be. Your use of the word evil is little more than grandstanding. I'm not giving you the chance to retort and then hide back behind your block. So I'm blocking you also and ending this. You want to be a coward? Enjoy being a pariah, loser.
Blatant lies do not make for an argument.
Neither BLM nor Antifa infiltrated the Trump rally. However, police investigations did reveal that in BLM protests, instigators connected to right-wing terror and hate groups did infiltrate those protests and incited violence with police. They were not responsible for atrocities. They did not storm the capitol.

Rush was a legend. Before Rush there was nothing but one sided liberal filtered media coverage under the "Fairness Doctrine". Then for the first time in my life I heard someone speak my views without them being ridiculed, or distorted by left wing ideologues playing at newscasters. I heard someone give BOTH sides of the story, and through logic and common sense dissect them and determine which worked and which was a bunch of emotional clap trap. II have listened to the man for 30 years.
And after 30 years of listening, I can say with certainty, anyone who actually listened tot the man, knows people who say he was a racist, bigot homophobe, never actually LISTENED too him.
To all of you myrmidon haters, I pity you. Your closed minds lost you a chance to know a truly great man who despite what your delusions say, actually loved you and all Americans more than your hate addled minds can comprehend. I know I am casting my peals before swine, but I am not celebrating the death of a person I don't know. Instead I will celebrate the life of the man I knew, and respected.
Gods speed Rush. You will be missed.

I've never been a listener so I'm probably missing important context, but he's been quoted saying a lot of hurtful things towards minorities and the LGBTQ community. Seemingly brushing aside what's percieved as a legacy of hate towards groups that find acceptance among the furry community is, in my opinion, why conservative viewpoints tend to be looked down on in places like FA.
Unfortunately a lot of quotes are out of context, twisted, and selectively chosen by those whom wish to control how you think and do not embrace open minded thinking.
When you see such quotes, ask yourself whom is making that comment and for what reason. What do they hope to achieve by such? What their purpose it posting a quote out of context?

I didn't have to agree with Limbaugh's opinions, but I respected them. He never dropped to the level of disrespecting those he disagreed with or belittled others by name calling. If you had a different opinion, he would challenge you to back it up and convince him otherwise with facts, presentation or force of conviction. I have heard him stop and say a caller had made him pause and reflect on what was said and he would have to give it deeper thought. I have heard him change opinions based on what he was presented with. He was harsh on bad government regardless of party, even while openly admitting he was strongly conservative.
Hate him or love him, he made people with open minds *think* about their positions, good or bad. By exposing the average listener to what happens behind the scenes in DC, he broke the model of talk shows as they were dying off.
I didn't agree with a lot of what he said. A lot if it was said to deliberately get you to react and *think*, and I have to respect what he did. I am much more aware of politics today as a result and an American that doesn't take presented opinions or information at face value. I learned how educate myself on topics, if only to prove him wrong, and often finding myself reluctantly agreeing, or at least understanding why he would say what he did.
And for that, I am a better American today.
I still don't like him as a person, but I do respect the man.

Noticed you hounding this entire comment section as if it were your own journal, replying to nearly every freaking comment with "Who will mourn your death" and seeing no one responded to your comment at all... had to change that. So here's a response to the one who responds to all.
That's primarily how I felt about him. He may have been bombastic at times and definitely had his fair share of controversy, but that force of conviction and persona made people think and reconsider their positions. And, I don't think he wanted it any other way. I listened to him by proxy on car rides to school as my father was a devoted listener; I think that experience and being presented with opposing viewpoints gave me a bit of perspective at a young age. Like him or not, that perspective and ability to see through the 'spin' was a valuable lesson for me.
I can't say I've always agreed with nor liked him. But Rush clearly had his supporters and said what many agreed with what he said. He truly left a lasting imprint. I was amazed at just how big his influence he was having a hand in creating much of what is now modern media on both sides of the political spectrum, both supporting or wanting to oppose his view.
Lung cancer is a particularly ugly/nasty way to die. I can only hope that he was comforted by the support and well wishes of his friends towards the end.

Sports, cola flavor, car brands and religion join politics in our cultural social structure. You may hate that horrible neighbor or yours because they voted for THAT local politician, but at least they didn't root for THAT OTHER TEAM in the big game, right? Now hand me a Pepsicoke and we'll complain about trucks.
Her now debunked claims to have been actually threatened personally on January 6th, and seriously suggesting that Trump supporters be sent away to be re-educated and or cancelled outright. Thats outright too close to Stalin's Gulags, and the Holdomor and that ended badly for those recipients.
My dad listened to him a lot when I was a kid, and I really missed hearing him.. I tried tuning in once in a while, but can't get AM inside work.. couldn't find a free way to stream him either. I very much appreciate his insights and arguments.. the one parody he made that I can't get out of my head was for Bill Clinton, to the tune of "I get Knocked Down" with the alternate words of "I whip it out.. I zip it up again"
I first became aquatinted with his broadcasts when he had his TV show. It was my little brother (8 years my junior) who told me about Rush, and I became a fan.
It was not unexpected, since that stage of cancer is really hard to overcome. When he wasn't back on the air a few weeks back, we sort of knew...
Nobody will ever replace Rush.. he was unique! My little brother still has several Rush ties that he had marketed through his first wife.
RIP Rush! Ya done good!
And don't worry... the following of "Ditto-heads" will keep Rio Linda, California in line.

Sadly, this thread has become buried in hateful screeds from leftists who couldn't resist being jackasses about Limbaugh's death. Personally, I'd say any future memorializing pictures of prominent figures, particularly as it pertains to politics, should have all comments disabled since civility clearly can't be maintained under them.
What
Tarin said.
Don't you know Jim? You're not supposed to support some of the same things that Rush might support, such as the free market, gun rights and wanting America to have a strong military. Along with enforcing immigration laws and deporting illegals.
You're supposed to worship communism, gun control and kissing the ass of America's enemies and 3rd world communist shitholes like China, Cuba, North Korea...etc. And allowing illegal immigrants to violate your laws and depress wages for your workers.

Noone is saying you should kiss the ass of America's enemies.
Noone is saying you should worship communist shitholes like China or North Korea. First off, the fact that China is actively participating in genocide of Uighur (or however it's spelt) muslims right now is disgusting. The fact that China has a seat on the Human Rights council is a fucking joke.
Oh, and in regards to North Korea? Trump was the idiot who met with the North Korean leadership, not Obama, or Biden. Sounds like he was kissing up to them too.
Noone is telling people to worship communism.
Also, socialism is NOT communism.
Every progressive thing that has come about has come about as a result of socialism, and whilst Socialism is definitely not a method for the prime method of government, all you have to do is look at the difference between rich and poor in America, and realise that Capitalism is the worse possible way to have a government.
Look at the blatant corruption of the American Republican party with their bribes... sorry, 'Campaign Donations'.
America's governmental system is entirely broken, as is their (lack of) healthcare system.

Blatant corruption of Both parties, both, right to the fucking core. All the senators trade favors and consideration for lavish 'gifts'. Competent IT professionals typically make more than senators for a salary and very few that I know are multi-millionaires within a few years of being hired.
Well the typical school, the D party wants to hand out cash/stipends/welfare and the R party wants to clamp down on welfare programs, instead fostering success small businesses. Now there's a plan on the floor to increase the minimum wage. As a business owner I can certainly say that if that happens, I'll have to let 2 employees go because I have a fixed budget for payroll. so yes, 2 or more employees will be unemployed and that will happen across the land, guaranteed. I may end up closing down entirely as the proposed tax mandates will make my business completely unprofitable. Encouraging small business makes jobs and that helps the poorer classes that want to work, which most do. Some want to live entirely on the public dole and some folks abuse that hugely. We had a governor who proposed a change in welfare, you must come in to one of the offices 2x a year to verify your identity and need. public transportation will be provided for free or if you were house bound, someone could come out. This caused the number of recipients to drop by 48% for six years until the next governor repealed that and there you go, within 2 months of the repeal, the welfare roles doubled with fraudelent claims.
Certainly for very large corporations that can afford to amortize the doubling of wages per employee. My options are either to let go three out of four or to shut my doors entirely, my market won't bear a doubling of wages. Im anticipating being a silent casualty of progress.
Ahh and there's the lack of market understanding right there, If you can buy a house because you know now to lean on a shovel or hand rake dirt, that's the end of the economy. Say it costs you $300 a week to have your 1/4 acre lawn mowed, your $10 cheezeburger meal now costs $24.50 etc, well you know, you will let your lawn mowing service go and you'll stop eating fast food, all those jobs gone. That 'Living wage' will force jobs offshore, guaranteed.
You want us to vote for the democrats?
Tell them to stop giving leniency to illegal immigrants, stop raising taxes in California and Chicago to unbearable levels to the point where people and businesses are leaving those states, stop trying to infringe on the 2nd Amendment, get the woke/sjw dipshits to stop trying to cancel people who disagree with their far-left views. Tell the dipshits in AntiFa/BLM to stop looting and destroying small businesses.
Stop trying to make the lives of those who live in the flyover miserable, by allowing their jobs to disappear, their communities to shrivel up.
If they want the "Nordic Model" where economics is concerned, it involves support for the free market and capitalism despite their social programs.

Put it simply, if the modern far-left isn't improving their product, I'm not voting for them. Not even a conservative, more of an independent anyway. I prefer to do what
Karno does, support the 2nd Amendment and America's free market principles, while acknowledging capitalism's flaws and supporting minority and LGBT rights, long as they don't pick his pocket or break his leg.
And I find it fucking frustrating that they want to bring in more unskilled illegal immigrants, while a college grad legal immigrant like myself has to wait years just to get a greencard.

Let’s at least be fair. Nobody is offering excessive leniency to immigrants, but we do need to give asylum seekers a fair hearing without holding their children hostage. They are coming here because the US screwed with their countries. We as a nation do bear responsibility.
There’s just too much partisan BS. Yes, I opposed Trump but I backed my position with researched facts from .gov and even .mil sites. And I have friends who are still contemporary republicans, we have lively debates but either come to a mutual understanding or just agree to disagree.
I don’t expect a miracle out of Biden, but he has at least done his job.
We also need to consider the actions of the legislative branch...yes, we have Manchin who is upholding his duties to represent his constituents to a fault. Biden is guilty of the same thing. We also have McConnell who is deliberately doing everything he can to obstruct government on partisan lines (and he is explicit on that).
Perhaps the hardest part of politics in the US is simply putting yourself in the shoes of people you don’t agree with simply to be just.

Suppose I say that even before Trump took the White House, I only had a 50/50 view on him. That is, sometimes I resonate with his ideas, sometimes I don't. It's like with this comment I made earlier: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/40.....#cid:153906043
That idea of Trump rolling with Putin's word could indeed be one of those times I don't resonate with his beliefs, and do indeed feel irked. Like I said, it's 50/50 for me when it comes to his rhetoric. There's no law that says I have to resonate 100% all the time, or be deemed a heretic, traitor or whatever terms are used to demonize people who don't share the same beliefs as a certain faction. I am not put on this earth to be someone parrot or serf. And I don't fucking owe you or anyone else my 100% agreement on anything.
I also suppose I should say, that I obviously could not vote for Trump, Biden or anyone else for that matter, on the grounds that I'm not an American citizen. Well...not yet anyway.
--
And as someone who has wanted to emigrate legally to America, It's fucking frustrating that the modern (far)left seems to prefer unskilled poors who sometimes don't even have a highschool diploma, while a guy like me who managed to snag a bachelors, and wants to achieve certain goals like run a business, maybe become a industrialist or magnate, has to wait forever to get a greencard. So yeah, the modern (far)left obviously doesn't speak for me in this regard.
I'll just bring up these comments I made earlier, to lead up to my next paragraph:

You want me to support the current left so bad? Tell them to fix their policies up. Take criticism and admit mistakes. And maybe address some of them yourself. If they won't do that, then I'm not obligated to vote for them. So there. Take your entitlement to someone agreeing with your views and supporting your ideas, and suffocate.

Also, seeing the bile you throw at people here, for having opposing viewpoints is enough proof that nothing but garbage spews out your mouth. Blocked. Fuck off already.
Let me rephrase my earlier statement. You want people to gravitate towards your side? Fix the damn problems your left wing side has like excessive taxes, illegal immigration, infringement on 2nd Amendment rights...etc. Otherwise, no matter how hard you shill, I'm not fucking buying.

The passing of Rush leaves a hole, a big hole that I'm not sure will be filled. Back in the early 80's I'd go to my Uncle's house to work on my car and to get his guidance on repairs. Rush was a genius, a scholar of the constitution, he could take a complex problem, be it a law, a bill or a constitutional disagreement and explain it in a way that anyone could understand it. He would have been an amazing Civics teacher for certain but he latched onto AM radio and ran with it, he ran like hell too, rejuvinating AM and FM talk radio. Call in and disagree and he'd hear your argument and he'd counter with his own. He fought his own demons between pills, and deafness while cancer got the best of him he fought it all with a courage that's truly admirable.
When you have people like
RinjiPantera claiming these two things... his entire viewpoint should be deemed invalid:
"It's just like how every court refused to see the evidence that President Trump was ready to present to prove the election fraud, to which they could continue to claim we're nutters for daring to suggest it."
"Oh, and it was antifa who posed as Trump supporters and instigated the Capitol Hill riots to frame them. You know, just FYI."
These two things are blatantly and proven to be untrue.
What. A. Fucking. Idiot.
I'm done.

I was an occasional listener, he always put on an interesting show. Sometimes he got the facts wrong but he always stood his ground. In a media landscape dominated by liberal care bears and euro-socialist apologists, he made me feel better about being a conservative. He could be an asshole on the air, no doubt. I'm not PC but he could make me blush. That was the point. He was bold and intentionally polarizing in an era where that was just not done in media. In that, he was a pioneer.
Admit it, Rush literally saved AM radio and even expanded it, to go from 200 stations to over 4500 is remarkable. And thats a lot of people listening to all sides discussing.
Still tempted to delete all this and repost the art with comments blocked. I'm frankly disgusted by the Twitter aspect this art page became.

You really want that image to be tainted with all this chaos and back and forth fighting over Limbaugh’s legacy? I really feel rabbi-tom should indeed respost this with comments disabled. Doesn’t mean anyone wins or loses if he did. This thread is just another testament to how deeply divided we all are as a country with no end in sight.
Well, the extremist views demonstrated by those whom only spout what they have been told to say does expose the hypocrisy present.
There is no winning or losing. You can only really present your views or positions and leave it that. Some people will argue to the end because they live to be offended and offend others with their righteous attitude. They must get the last word to feed their egos, while never once considering they might actually be wrong.
So let them rant. People can see them for whom they are. A person climbing a streetlight and shouting into the wind will be perceived quite differently from the calm and patient person offering the same I formation and open to polite debate.
Also, unrelated, HEY, long time no chat. Nerd to hook back up with folks I know like you again. Can't wait for cons that may or may not happen in the future.

I hear what you are saying but I live surrounded by people who took in a huge heap of what this man was selling and we are not better off for it locally and I’ll leave it at that. As for cons I think it’ll be awhile before we get back to getting normal con crud. Online may be all we got for at least another year.
If you do that, let it settle down here for a bit first. Let people get tired and calm down.
For all the rhetoric being thrown around, I learned a few things in the process, so this had some benefits by taking in the views of those I disagree with. Actually kind of like Rush's show actually.
Huh. I have to let that sink in for a bit.

I drew them, Just like I drew Rush, They are despots, Rush wasn't. Rush didn't kill anybody, imprison anybody, torture anybody.
Rush was part of the American fabric for over 30 years, and without Rush, we'd not have talk radio today that anybody can listen to and take part in. Thats why I drew up his memorial. Not even I agreed with everything he said, but he was a staple on the air. Just like Howard Stern, or Casey Casum, Paul Harvey or Art Bell.

I think when you showed support for him in the description that's what drew the ire from many of us. I understand he's certainly no despot. He never killed anyone, at least as far as any of us know, but he helped to further the divide between the left and the right.
He certainly made a big name for himself, I can't argue with that.

i'd compare him and radio with radio being the donut, and him the donut hole: the hole's there, and i'm okay with that. People in this comment section really like to twist him as being some kinda "national hero" or something, when he attacked minorities and people for the worst reasons.
Was never a huge fan of him, though I admittedly didn't listen to him all that often and got much much more exposure to negative opinions of him so not the best to judge. Still cancer is a crappy way to watch someone go and the people uncorking Champaign bottles and smug celebratory lectures over his passing are despicable.
The only reason I even know about Rush Limbaugh is he beat up a bunch of thugs who were mugging Brian on an episode of Family Guy. I also had no clue he was a radio personality, I thought he was a politician just off his name... like how I though Regis Philbin was a politician.
I only blocked HG3300 since he ignored my repeated warnings, shouted at and swore at others, insulted and accused me of supporting Hitler. Asshole literally is half the posts here, treating it like his own Twitter page. AND got upset when I called Twitter a dumpster fire, that and he's a hard core social media junkie , addicted to constantly Tweeting all over the spectrum.
Thank you for this.
I didn't always agree with Rush's opinions. Listening to him could be hurtful at times, his great wit and perspective sometimes paired with great insensitivity and callousness.
That being said, what I did always know was that Rush was going to give his honest and genuine opinion on the day's/week's events, and it would be well-articulated, insightful, provocative, and thought-out. For better or worse, he didn't pull any punches or dumb down the content; you as the listener were going to follow along at the galloping speed of Rush, and just maybe that might drive you to sharpen your own insight and perspective too - either because you wanted to be like him, or you disagreed and wanted to challenge what you heard.
RIP to the "Mayor of Realville". It is unlikely we'll ever have a singular media personality with that level of authenticity and social clout ever again.

I am sorry, but he deserves no respect: https://www.politifact.com/personal.....rush-limbaugh/
Not really, when he started there was roughly 200 AM stations left in the country, his format literally rebooted talk radio of all types to over 4500 AM stations today across the country. And damn near every station has admitted, if it wasn't for him, they wouldn't exist.
