“Anyway, shall we?” I gesture.

“Where to?” she asks.

“Mostly away from here for now. No plans tonight, just you and me.”

She nods slightly and places one paw over where the medal is likely still being kept before we set out. I have to remind myself to slow down at first, that I must remember to pace myself at a comfortable rate for Maria since she’s not nearly as fast as I can be.

“I assume this is some sort of pity party because I lost?”

“Well you won second place, so that’s always something to be proud of.”

“But I had him. I had everything under control and I had the typing. By all rights that gold should have been mine. If I hadn’t choked at the end there I would have had it.”

“Sorry, dear. But on that you’re wrong. The moment I saw how he was moving I knew you would likely lose. He’s been training you only on a very general manner, but that Chan has clearly been training more to overcome his weaknesses. He knew how to fight against a generally trained psychic type. And you have not yet learned how to counter against this kind of strategy. That said, you’re also going to want to learn how to fight against dark and ghost types, yourself.”
