I just finished this puppy (no pun intended) a few hours ago, but didn't get it to the mail in time - I keep forgetting that Christmas Eve means something in terms of business hours!
Anyway - this is a 6x9 Bristol smooth portrait, which I must warn takes a heck of a lot of effort to get a decent dark due to the lack of tooth to the paper, but I suppose this has worked well enough. I'll have to keep it in mind is all.
Sydney is an older dog, now the point of affection for a lady after having been adopted but then returned to the pound three times in the past, just due to her physical appearance. She is an extremely sweet and loving dog - why anyone would return their pet because they looked 'unappealing' or even 'frightening' makes me feel rather sad. I am happy to know that she has a loving family now, though. Her underbite gives her charm, and is lovingly nicknamed 'Fang'.
6x9 Bristol, .05 2B mechanical pencil and 8B wood pencil. More than 10 hours.

It make me sad too that someone wouldn't want her because of her apperance, was she born like this? At least she's found a loving home now. This is such a beautiful drawing, The textures are perfect especialy the bumpyness of the nose, I just want to reach out and stroke her!

People judge harshly by looks, genetics plays...too big of a role there. This is a very beautiful Christmas gift, though, and I hope both Sydney and her people are happy together.

Quite the bittersweet portrait, and story behind it. You did well with this!
