Kthxbai!
Last year, the county established a new park. Bonnet Springs Park is on the site of a former railroad marshaling yard, and back in October I got a letter from the Sheriff (my former boss, I is retired) about it.
The Sheriff's Office operates a nonprofit charity, and the charity organization reached out to the development company building the park with a proposal. The idea was to provide a brick paver for every Sheriff's Office member who served between 25 and 30 or more years, more than 300 in total. The letter concluded by inviting me and other retired members to come out and see our bricks.
Yeah, okay. It took a few months to get around to it, so I went this morning.
Apart from the brick paver, it's actually a very nice park. Lots of walking trails, a nature pathway, and a canopy walkway (elevated; highest point is about thirty feet up); there's a children's museum and lots of play areas. The welcome center includes a display of rail memorabilia.
I'll post a few of the pictures I took of the park a little later.
