The scar is meant to be a deep gouge in his scale from a dark moment in his past (the same moment which ultimately led him to God.) It represents his mistakes and regrets. His imperfections. His sins. A monument to his wretched past. But also his overcoming, forgiveness, and redemption. A new life. Rebirth. Dead is the old, wicked beast but a new, righteous dragon has risen from the ashes.
