“You doing all right?” Maria asks after another half block.
“Little claustrophobic I guess. Not a trait He has and not a trait that I would have thought a vulpix would have either. Kind of strange, really.”
“It’s just an overstimulated fight or flight response,” Benny shrugs. “I’ve read about it. It’s apparently quite common for wild pokemon to go through it when first getting used to city life. Even if you logically know everyone here is safe and not a threat, there is still that instinct to not want to be caught, expecting at any moment someone might throw a ball at you or try and attack you.”
“Either way, I think some quieter settings would be ideal for a little while,” I say as I gesture towards a small alleyway off to the side.
As we walk I half ponder over Benny’s words. They make sense but it is somewhat strange to be hearing them from him. I suppose that that might be what he does as his pastime. I might be tempted to ask Him if he wanted to see about getting some psychology books or something to read during downtime. On the other side of the alley is a much more open bit of road, far less crowded and stressful, with some humans in the distance undergoing a snowball fight. Have half a wonder why no pokemon is participating in the snowball fight, but I imagine it’d be a matter of fairness. No one would expect a fair fight in such a way if pokemon were involved.
