The other seven pokemon stare at me and are clearly sizing me up as someone is shouting through a megaphone, going over the rules of the event. Apparently I’m the last participant. But we’re to all do a circuit around a path laid out for us in a casual walk before the actual race. Which I suppose makes sense in that it’s not like the people watching would be able to make out much if it is an actual quick attack race. There is also the restriction that only quick attack may be used and we may not intentionally sabotage another’s pathing. Most are sizing me up before we start going about walking the path, waving at the people alongside it, but a particular racer seems all the more excited about my appearance than the others.

“Sorry, fellas,” the Cinderace speaks up, flexing an arm out and gesturing at themselves. “I was going to go easy on you all, but if she’s racing, I’m going all out. Nothing’s on the line but pride and a tiny bit of metal, but if I didn’t at least try to see how well I could fare against her, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself.”
