With the forming of a strange new pack due to an encounter with Atlas, some eyes have taken notice of their accomplishments. Davy and company will soon find themselves face to face with the most dangerous group of predators in the Megawild, one that seems to be against the all-eating bear as well!

The Matchmakers are actually a rival gang to the Hunter-Killers, sort of the Jets to the H-K's Sharks. They're made of prey species and omnivores (like the possum) that became predators. They're led by Fiona the doe deer, who is every bit the fierce predator any of the Hunter-Killers are.
And they HATE that. As far as they are concerned, prey should stay prey. As far as the Matchmakers are concerned, prey can be predators. But they both have a common enemy, as it turns out....

That's actually Aspen talking about the Matchmakers, who ARE prey creatures (or omnivores, with the possum) that decided to be predators. Aspen's just reflecting the Hunter-Killers's general attitude: Prey should stay prey.

Okay. the comic gives more insight into both rivaling factions or gangs with different ideals the Hunter-Killers wish to preserve the natural order of the food chain while the Matchmakers wish to change it and the group is caught in the crossfire.
Maybe Leopold (the lion), leader of the Hunter-Killer wants to ally with the group because they are all preds & they are against Atlas as well.
The Hunter-Killer is after Atlas because Atlas is known as the "all-eating bear". He sees himself as a keeper of balance, and he ensures that predators and prey do not have too much power over each other, much like Thanos. This makes Atlas a threat to both the Hunter-Killers and Matchmakers.
The last question is does any of the Hunter-Killers know it was because of Davy that others escaped Atlas?

Sometimes, i wonder if there are humans who take a hunter/poacher role (Specifically in this universe). And most animals fear them while some don't know what Humans even are since you don't see em on here on furaffinity or or the fidchellverse in general. This aint a suggestion, it's just a thought i had.
Another thought, what if there are also zoologist and wildlife enthusiasts who are here to watch over wildlife and protect them? Not knowing about their peculiar nature to swallow other creatures whole, predator and prey alike. And if they did, they'd study that heavily. Again this is not a request ir suggestion, just a thought i wanted to share.
