Quite interesting how anthro felines are more evolved. Interesting concept. The idea that magic has faded from the world creates the further question of, what would happen if it came back. I'm envisioning Shadowrun type scenarios in my head.

Anyways, I hope Shelby can get to a state of at least some autonomy and respect soon. Must be hell just being sedated all the time.

Evolution can happen quick! Even humans aren't exactly the same as they were a few thousand years ago though the changes probably aren't this drastic lol.

If Magic suddenly came back Shelby would probably be the most powerful creature on the planet, at least for a short time, as she'd be the only one that knew what she was doing with it! You probably would have more Shadowrun type stuff going on for sure!

Another interesting segment in the captivity arc. I'm curious to know who exactly these scientists are and why they want to replicate Shelby's immortality so badly that they'd send armed forces after her and keep her locked up for nearly a year.

Did... did this man actually just suggest that Shelby, ambushed, shot, and abducted before being locked in a room for months on end, cooperate with people who aren't telling her anything? Doctor, I'm going to have to ask what part of your brain told you that she would be willing to do anything beyond rip your throat out given her situation and abilities.

Imagine how much you could sell immortality for! The profits would be astronomical! That and the head doctor wouldn't mind being immortal himself.

Haha, I think the poor doctor is just frustrated, it's so hard to do testing on an unwilling subject!

I must admit, I’m curious about the mechanism for magic and the reason for its decline. Especially since in the later stories they have access to other planets which might have preserved it longer, depending on how/why it all works.
Whatever the details, though, it makes for a fun setting to play in. ^^

Funny you should bring some of this up!

I still RP with one of the people I used to back in the day, and we've touched these subjects to some extent. some of the magic was used up, a finite resource. Some of the magic left but we have yet to get into how or why with our RP. There are absolutely planets that still have magic though and we've been dealing with some of that, and our RP session currently has a huge thing going on where Shelby's trying to get to the bottom of it all.

I really enjoy this setting, and it means Shelby can exist in a high fantasy magical world when I write about her deep past, and a modern or future one when I write more current events.
